A simple dwelling on the edge of the Dune Sea, this primitive hut actually hid one of the last of the Jedi Knights; Obi-Wan Kenobi, who had gone into hiding, changing his name and living on an out-of-the-way world in the Outer Rim.
The hut consists of a single large room subdivided into living area, a raised kitchen, and bathroom. A trapdoor leads to a cellar containing water storage and power generator utilities. A moisture vaporator standng outside collected the water for this small repository. However, the most important feature of the hut was a small chest in one corner. Within this chest, Ben kept Anakin Skywalker's old lightsaber, a leather-bound book detailing the process of lightsaber creation, as well as other Jedi artefacts from the days of the Republic.
It was in this hut that Luke Skywalker first learned about the Force. Ben Kenobi passed down Anakin's lightsaber to Luke, after saving him from a Tusken Raider attack. He and Luke later left the hut for Alderaan, though only Luke would return from that adventure; he made the hut his temporary home after Kenobi's death at the hands of Darth Vader, using his Master's dwelling to fashion his own lightsaber. |
