Cacao,
French Guiana
(info corrected 5/25/02,
thanks YaNFami)
Cacao is 150 km from Kourou (a nice rally style drive) on the East-Trail.
Some Hmong families (who came from Laos and were refugees in Thailand at
one point) have settled here. The restaurants (local cooking) are usually
open on weekends. |

A view of Cacao from the
peak of the mountain.
Its pretty cool (temperature wise ) up there compared to the rest of French Guiana. |

This is the picturesque local market which displays typical crafts,
embroidery, weaving
and local fruits is open on Sundays. Had lunch there, great food,
try the peppers (ask Ramon). |

Cacao has a very
comprehensive butterfly & bug collection at their museum. |
|

We tried the noodles
at the
open air market,
they were great. |

Check out the mean looking
bugs they have at the Cacao Museum. |
