Mindoro is well known as one of the best diving spot in the Philippines. Since I'm not good in Philippine geography, I will just say that Mindoro is the closest diving spot to Manila. It's about 1 1/2 drive to Batangas City Pier, then an hour boat ride to Sabang Beach. No planes to catch or other dialect to muster in order to survive in this island. The island is one of the favorite tourist destination of foreigners who love water sports (mainly scuba diving and snorkelling), they also offer a lot of tours to other islands and other hiking expeditions. As soon as we got there, we stayed at a cottage for 1300.00 Ppesos per night. At that price, a/c and cable were included. It's not such a bad thing considering it was holy weekend that time. There is no immediate swimming area where we were at because of bancas etc. What we did was rent a boat to tour us around the island which was well worth it. Haggling is obviously the best way to do business so the rate could go from 500 - 1000 ppesos. The coral beach we went to was amazing, the reef was right there on your feet!, What can I say?, I had such agreat time there snorkelling and getting a tan. There is only one drawback ..sad to say that the place reminded me of Thailand in regards to sex trade happening in there.
