My South East Asian Holidays consists of places such as Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. In this page, I will focus on Singapore and our interesting experience in this island. If you want to skip this go to: THAILAND and find out the best places I've been to in this beautiful country. Or, you can go straight to MALAYSIA.

. But if you'd rather go on its neighboring countries, check out PHILIPPINES and KOREA

As a starting point of our journey, we took the 17 hours flight from Canada. Stinking tired, pissed off, and hungry, we found out that the airline lost our baggage (It could only happen to me: Chris!). Therefore, for the next 36 anxiety filled hours... we were all worked up and irritable. We had to buy new outfit (after all, it was winter where we came from!), new sandals, toiletries, name it. And this was the start of our supposedly fun filled holiday.

SINGAPORE is such a small island but so economically stable that you wouldnt think youre in Asia. Everything is so expensive (compare to its nearby asian countries) that shopping isnt' something you would take great pleasure of. It's just like north american prices. The only area I would recommend visiting for shopping purposes are places such as "Little India" and "Chinatown".

Since there isn't much to see in this country (ie. beaches). One of the best place to go in Singapore is the Sentosa Island (that is unless you want to go shopping), but unfortunately we werent able to go there due to lack of time (and the weather). The only significant place we bothered checking out is the "infamous" filipino hang out (and very well known among the sailors from around the world) called the Lucky Plaza. It gets packed on weekends, particularly on Sundays. The most Filipino/nas I've seen in one area, you just cannot imagine!!the workers that meets there on their day off and does nothing all day but chill out. In fact, it made me wonder how could they actually hang out there for hours and do nothing!. It was quite amazing. They even play Filipino music at the park nearby for everybody to hear now, how about that!. For the locals, it was a nuisance. The area has a bad rep due to prostitution.. a pick up place. And no matter how hard I try to blend in with the crowd, I just can't seem to meet any kababayans...weird isn't it?. This time, it bothered me because I did try communicating with them (unlike when I was in Hongkong)... and it was a shame because they weren't a welcoming bunches of people. BUT, does it bother me??? .. NOT!!

Boat Quay is a place where you can find fellow tourists, a popular hang out. Alcohol is quite expensive: for cocktails, it's $12.00 cdn, and for beer, it's $10.00 cdn. There are some bars that offers an early bird special , from $20-$25.00 all you can drink until specified time... but don't be fooled, their drinks are all "watered down". We didn't stay here long. As soon as we got our baggages, we took the train to the border called JOHOR BAHRU heading towards Penang island . Their trains are suprisingly very comfortable, and it was the main transportations the tourists takes to go about the South East. From here, we went to Kuala Lumpur then Penang island, Malaysia. Click here:Malaysia.... then our not so final destination...Thailand.
