Put 1 teaspoon of dried calendula petals into a cup. Pour boiling water over it. Cover for 5 minutes. Add honey to taste and drink it down. The pain should subside within half an hour.

    WHITE TEA

    White Tea is grown in the high mountains of Fujian province. Like Green tea, White tea is also an unfermented tea. White tea leaves are completely allowed to dry in the sun without any pan frying or steaming resulting in a purer, more "natural" state. This freshness is what researchers from Oregon State University report may cause White tea to have a greater concentration of polyphenols than Green tea and therefore may have the strongest anti-cancer potential of all teas. White tea has the sweet aroma of fresh tea leaves and is unique in quality.

    YARROW TEA Helps reduce fevers. To make use one teaspoon leaves and flowers to 1 cup water, steep 5 mins.

    CATNIP TEA Tea made of 1 tsp dried catnip to 1 cup water makes a relaxing tea, mild enough that it is suitable for children too.

    TULSI BEVERAGE

    Pour a cup of boiling water into a tea pot and soak half a dozen tulsi leaves, a couple of blades of lemon grass and about half a dozen mint leaves. After 15 minutes, strain the water into a cup, add the juice of a lemon and honey to taste. Have this daily on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning. This cleanses the digestive system, purifies the blood and is refreshing as well. The use of honey helps in slimming and lemon in curing biliousness. A dash of ginger can be added.

    PAAN (piper betel leaf) DRINK
    Heat a cup of water and boil two leaves of paan, a few of tulsi and a teaspoon of ajwain (a kind of aniseed caraway) for a few minutes. Remove from heat and grind the softened ingredients to a fine paste using the same water. Strain, add honey to taste and dilute with remaining water, if any. Take an ounce of this drink once a day for a couple of days. This is good for digestive and catarrhal conditions. For children reduce the dosage to about two teaspoon.

    Fruit is full of vitamins and minerals essential to keep skin and hair in top condition. They can help clear away impurities from our bodies which lead to skin problems like spots. Some fruits have specific uses.
    Bananas are full of potassium which can help us get rid of excess water. Lemons are high in Vitamin C and apricots provide us with Vitamin A. Both of these vitamins are essential to healthy skin repair.
    Strawberries are natural inner cleansers, while the enzymes in exotic fruits like pineapple, papaya and kiwi can help digestion.

    TO IMPROVE COMPLEXION

    • Tomato juice
    • celery juice
    • horseradish juice
    Take equal quantities of tomato and celery juice. Add a dash of horseradish juice. Drink one cupful three times a day. Raw fruit and vegetables juices are a concentrated form of food and should always be sipped slowly to avoid indigestion.

    • 2 peeled kiwi fruit ripe and soft
    • 1 papaya(paw-paw)
    • 1 cup pineapple juice
    Blend peeled kiwi fruit with a peeled papaya. Add a cupful of pineapple juice, stir and serve. If you can't get a papaya blend several slices of soft ripe pineapple instead and leave out the pineapple juice.



    MELON COOLER

    • 1 melon
    • third of a pint of pineapple juice
    • honey

    Simply cut th melon in half, discard the seeds, scoop out the flesh and liquidise. Blend with a third of pineapple juice. Sweeten, if you like, with a little melted honey and sprinkle with a tiny pinch of ground ginger.

    STRAWBERRY REVIVER

    • 4 oz strawberries
    • 1 kiwi fruit
    • 1cup pear or pineapple juice
    Wash and hull the strawberries. Liquidise with a peeled kiwi fruit, adding a cupful of pear or pineapple juice.

    APRICOT SKIN DRINK

    Apricots are packed with natural Vitamin A for younger and softer skin. Almonds are full of the essential fatty acids so vital for moisture retention and smooth skin. Prunes help get rid of toxins, saving skin from spots and pastiness

    • 4 oz fresh apricots,
    • 2 oz almonds
    • 4 prunes
    • cup water in which prunes were soaked overnight.
    • honey or molasses (black treacle).
    Pulp the fresh apricots in a liquidiser, grind the almonds in a cooffee grinder, and blend both with prunes and a cupful of water in which you've soaked the prunes overnight. Add honey or a little molasses (black treacle) which is packed with Vitamin B.

    The perfect drink for refuelling when you're exercising hard and need instant energy. It's light, easy to digest, and it rebuilds those blood sugar levels for energy and stamina.
    • 5 oz. plain yogurt,
    • 1 banana
    • 1dsp ground almond or wheatgerm
    • dash vanilla
    Put the yogurt into a liquidiser, add a chopped banana and blend . Add a dessertspoonful of ground almonds or wheatgerm. and a dash of vanilla essence.

    LEMON REFRESHER

    There's nothing more thirst-quenching than a good homemade lemonade packed with Vitamin C.

    • 1/2 lemon
    • 1 tsp. honey
    • glass of chilled water and ice
    Squeezze the juice of lemon into a tumbler, add honey to sweeten and just enough hot water to melt the honey. Top up the glass with chilled water, ice and a twist of lemon peel and stir.

    FOR WEAK NERVES

    • Orange juice
    • celery juice
    • carrot juice
    • lemon juice
    Mix six parts of orange juice and two parts of celery juice and one part carrot juice with lemon juice. Drink half a cup twice a day.

    FOR EXTRA BOUNCE AND ENERGY

    • Spinach juice
    • carrot juice
    • celery juice
    Combine equal quantities of spinach, carrot, and celery juice. Drink half a cup three times a day. A tasty and nutritious soup can also be made with this combination.
