    CELLULITE

Cellulite on the different parts of the body is caused by lack of exercise or poor diet.Tough, regular massage with friction milt is of great help for circulation. Chilled baths help tone the skin and also aid circulation.

    BODY SOFTENING LOTION

It takes time all right. But you will not regret it, for it makes your skin super soft. Youll need two eggs, four tablespoons whipped margarine, half-a-cup plain curd, one cup milk, one teaspoon vinegar, three tablespoons rosewater, two teaspoons glycerine, one cup apple juice, 1/3 cup eau-de-cologne, 1/3 cup groundnut oil and one teaspoon ground cinnamon. Warm the margarine and mix in the peanut oil. When it cools, add the eggs and beat with an eggbeater while adding all the other ingredients (one at a time).

Store in a refrigerator. Smooth this all over your body and let it set for 25 minutes, before taking a warm shower.

MUSCLE REJUVENATOR Oatmeal bath To exfoliate and rejuvenate your skin, try oatmeal bath. Mix 2/3 cup oatmeal, 2/3 cup powdered milk, and two teaspoons lavender oil in a blender. Put the mixture in a muslin fabric and tie off to make a bag, to drain the excess water. Apply this mixture on your body. Wait till it dries and wash it off with lukewarm water.

This concoction will help rejuvenate your tired muscles. Mix 1/3 cup aloe vera gel, one teaspoon corn starch and one tablespoon witch hazel. Heat the mixture in a microwave or thick-bottom tawa until it turns into honey-texture (keep stirring all along to avoid the mixture sticking to the vessel). Wait for it to cool and then add four drops of peppermint essential oil. Refrigerate it. After a long day or hectic shopping just massage this on your feet and legs, and relax.

    BRUSH THAT BODY

If you've never tried body brushing, now's the time to start. It really helps to shift cellulite ! Begin body brushing on the same day as you start your diet. Daily brushing gives your circulation a boost and speeds up the action of your lymphatic system which gets rid of stagnant waste products in your body.

Body brushing can be slightly painful at first--but it's enjoyable once you get used to it ! And don't worry if you see flakes of dead skin falling away---this is quite normal ! The best times to brush are first thing in the morning and early evening. . . any later and it may stop you sleeping---it's very stimulating. Make sure you use a very hard bristle brush---ones with soft bristles are useless for cellulite removel. So, just follow this daily routine of body brushing and you'll soon see those dimples dissappear !

    • Start by brushing your fingers and hand, using a pressure that's firm but comfortable. Then brush your arms, using long strokes from your hands to your shoulders. The method is done by fairly strongly brushing the skin towards the heart, ( always toward the heart and not away, from where ever you are).

    • Move on to your toes and feet, then brush your legs up to the knees, repeating 14 times on each leg.

    • Brush your thighs and buttocks, paying special attention to the cellulite areas.

    • Finally, brush downwards from your neck, front and back. It will stimulate your circulation and give you a clear, glowing skin.

Before you use your body brush for the first time, soak the bristles in water and dry overnight in a warm place. This will make the bristles more flexible.

    THE ART OF AROMATHERAPY

Aromatherapy---one of the most popular alternative medical techniques---has a proven track record in the fight against cellulite. What's more, it smells great as well.

Aromatherapy massage therapy that heals the body, mind and spirit with natural organic essential oils. Negative emotions like anger, jealousy and depression constrict the blood flow. Hence the toxins in the body cannot be eliminated quickly enough. They escape into the tissues, causing disturbances in the body organs. This effects your looks adversely. Apart from re-educating yourself to think positively, a good way of eliminating these poisons the physical way is by increasing the blood flow. This can be achieved with aromatherapy, or the science of 'energy flow massage' with suitable aromatic oils helps release certain hormones in the body which automatically cope with negative feelings and try to return them to the positive state.

Each oil has its own biological character. Some of the oils used are lavender, camphor, cammomile, juniper, sage, fennel, clove, lemon, sandalwood, ginger, benzoin and black peppor------oils .

Suggested relaxing essential ils include chamomile, geranuim, lavender, lemon balm, neroli, petit grain, rose, rosewood, and sage.
Suggested stimulating essential oil include basil, grapefruit, juniper, lemon, peppermint and rosemary.

A good aromatherapist will blend oils, taking into consideration their effect on your bodily or mental condition and also the aroma, which will soothe your nerves.

The oil massage also has the advantage of smoothening out those wrinkles and blemishes, leaving your body silky soft. If you look good, you will feel good.

You can now buy special anti-cellulite aromatherapy oils from most chemists and health food stores. But always follow the instructions carefully, as the oils can be quite strong.

Apply the oil straight after a bath : pour a small amount into the palms of your hands first, then massage vigorously into the cellulite areas. To begin with, use the oil every day. Then, after two weeks, use about three times a week.

    MASSAGE MADE EASY

Another essential part of your anticellulite routine is massage. So try these self-massaging techniques. . .

    • STROKING

Pour a little massage oil into the palm of your hand. Massage in, using long, stroking movements starting at your thighs. Try imagining that you're smoothing the cellulite away from your legs. Use both hands and make sure the movements arefirm but gentle. This helps encourage your circulation and stimulates blood flow.

    • KNEADING

As you work on each problem area pretend you're kneading a loaf of bread ! Work on large areas at a time and apply as much pressure as possible. Cellulite areas-bottom, hips, thighs and upper arms--feel hard and ridgy, and you'll feel a rippling sensation as you apply more pressure. Concentrate on the most lumpy areas for the best results. Areas which feel especially tenden contain lots of cellulite !

    • ROLLING
Using both hands, simply pinch up an inch of flesh on your thighs, then roll it firmly between your fingers to break down the lumpy deposits. At first, when your cellulite is bad, work on the lumpy areas every time you're in the bath and whenever you're sitting in the armchair watching the telly ! Once you start to see results, reduce massage to 2 or 3 times a week .

    GET READY FOR EXERCISE

When your cellulite starts to budge is the time to begin the exercise routine. The first sign that it's disappearing is when you can start some special anti-cellulite excercises to firm and tone up your hips, thighs and bottom into super shape ! You're in the final stages now, so keep going ! The key is to start becoming more energetic. Go for a brisk walk every day to boost your circulation. Swimming and walking upstairs are great exercisers. Also, try these exercises every day---they're brilliant for toning you up ! * Anyone with a back problem should not atempt these exercises.

***Warm up : It's important to warm up your muscles beforehand, so rub or slap your legs. Then stand up straight, feet hip-width apart. Now lift left leg out in front of you, and raise it as high as you can. Return to start position and repeat 6 times with each leg.

*** Leg lengthener : Start off in a 'sprinting' position, supporting yourself with your hands, then slowly straighten your back leg and lower your back heel on to the floor. You will feel a stretch in the back of your leg. If you can't lower it right down at first, don't worry----you'll become more supple as time goes on ! Ensure your front knee is directly over your foot. Repeat 10 times, then do the same exercise again, stretching the other leg.

    ANTI - CELLULITE CREAMS

Sachet of seaweed is also good for tightening and toning the body skin .

To give smoothness to your body add starch to your bath for smooth velvety skin .

If you have got a dry skin, switch to a no-soap body cleanser. You can use besan (gram flour), with a little lemon juice. This can be moistened and rubbed all over the body and then rinsed. It'll perform the dual function of cleansing and softening the skin. Lemon will bleach parts of your skin that have tanned as well as impart a tingling freshness to it. The bath can be quick and taken even on a working day.
