HAVE LAUGHTER IN YOUR LIFE
LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE
Since the thirteenth century, when French Surgeon Henri de Mondeville proposed that laughter be used to help speed recovery after an operation, humour has been prescribed by some cutting-edge surgeons and rehabili-
-lators.
But more recently, scientists have discovered another health-helping aspect of laughter : More energy. No joke !!! Laughter can do other things associated with increased energy - relieve stress, boost immunity, improve creative thinking and problem solving, and help people recover faster from diseases. Besides, laughing makes you feel better about yourself. And when you feel better about yourself, you tend to be more energetic.
Laughter is aerobic. In fact, when you laugh for 20 seconds - the average length of a good, hearty laugh - your body gets the same aerobic workout as it would from funning or doing any other aerobic exercise for
the same time.
We recommend that you absolutely litter your daily path with with silly props - anything and everything that encourages amusement, if not outright laughter. This includes items like putting a humourous calendar on your desk or hanging funny items on bulletin boards to even wearing or carrying funny things - even if it's secretly or switch on tv. "The Comedy Channel is a great source, humour books and movies on videos.

SOME QUICK FIXES FOR HALITOSIS
Bad breath turns off people and will distance your friends. Americans spend more than $200 million a year on breath-freshener products, although there are some simple foods that work just as welland cost almost nothing.
For example, a spoonful of sugar may not make the medicine go down, but it sure does put a damper on bad breath. Here's why : The bacteria that produce halitosis feed on proteins in your food and and saliva. The sugar helps balance out the bacteria.
Buttermilk or yogurt with active cultures contain substances called lactobacilli that will also counterbalance the odor-causing germs. Fennel or anise seeds contain natural oils that sweeten your breath and aid digestion
Mint, myrrh and clove also fight bacteria that produce bad breath.
However, chronic halitosis may also be a symptom of something serious such as diabetes, kidney failure, cirrhosis( cancer of the liver ) or even a type of hernia which creates digestive disorders. So if you can't get rid of your bad breath, check with your doctor.
A natural toothbrush-cum-toothpaste. This multi-purpose stick cleans the mouth, whitens the teeth and sweetens the breath, and is widely used throughout the Arab world.
it contains a total of 19 natural substances which are beneficial to dental health. Its natural antiseptics have a bactericidal action, killing harmful micro-organisms in the mouth, the tannic acid it contains has astringent qualities which protect the gums from disease, and its aromatic oils increase salivation. Because of its built-in antiseptics, the miswak needs no cleaning, and because its bristles are parallel to the handle rather than perpendicular, it can reach more easily between the teeth, where a conventional toothbrush often misses.

TOP 10 SECRETS FOR MAKING MARRIAGE LAST
COMPROMISE : SOMEIMES YOU NEED TO GIVE A LITTLE TO GET A LOT OF HAPPINESS
You'vesen these couples around: They're the ones who always seem to be sharing a private joke, who can be found gazing into each other's eyes even after 15 years of marriage, who just seem so in synch. Here are the top tried-and-true bliss-makers.
- COMMUNICATE
Happy couples are emphatic about the importance of frank exchanges with their spouses. But they're all quick to admit that keeping the lines open is hard work. "When my husband was working long hours," recalls Anne Marie, a mother of three, "it felt like we lost touch and were acting strangers. To avoid that, we always recap our activities dinner, or late at night."
Communication's not all talk either, you've also got to listen. Cindy, a business woman, explains: "After 13 years, communication was becoming increasingly difficult. We finlly began martial counselling. Almost immediately, I discovered that I hadn't been allowing my husband to express himself verbally to me without stopping him in the middle and picking apart everything he said. Once we began to hear each other out, communication improved, and so did our marriage."
- BE HONEST
Want the truth ? Happy couples think being genuine keeps their marriage solid. Susan and Linda, whose husbands are good buddies, were candid enough to say that women do "sprinkle the truth with little white lies." They note that for those times when they may be hard to hear, honesty works best, especially when it's accompanied by lots of touching or followed up with a hug.
- HAVE TRUST
In marriage, you trust because, as Lorna, a marketing executive, so perfectly put it: "I'm too busy to worry about petty secrets and lies. I know that if my husband tells me he is going to be somewhere, he is. If he's running late, I know he's stuck at a meeting."
- LAUGH
No joke, happy couples say keeping their sense of humour is the key to joyful matrimony. They use humor in many ways - to laugh off upsetting situations and to shake off embarrassing moments. Cristina, a writer married to a bank executive, uses it just to have fun with her husband. "We do funny voices or make funny faces to make each other laugh. If music is on, we'll dance in a weird way to crack each other up. A marriage doesn't look healthy to me when the couple doesn't goof around together.
- BE FRIENDS
Olive, a boutique owner, tells why chumminess equals happiness: "Let's face it, love is an emotion most people feel at one time or another. But the combination of being in love with someone and really liking him is far more rare. After my first marriage failed, my few years of dating taught me that without this combination, you are settling for less than you truly deserve".
- RESPECT EACH OTHER
To do this, you must respect yourself first, you must respect yourself first. "This helps you maintain your identity as your marriage changes and grows," says Geraldine, a social worker. "My husband and I havevastly different views on a lot of things. We have learned to express them and to respect each other for standing up for what we believe in."
- LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY
For many happy couples, the L-word - spoken loudly and often is strongly associated with commitment to each other. Even on those days when it's obvious that he's driving you crazy, Liza, a surgical nurse, suggests you "make sure he knows you still love him."
- COMPROMISE
Sometimes you need to give a little to get a lot of happiness. Sally, a flight attendant, says compromising helps you feel like you're on the same team. "When we have our little disagreements, we are willing to openly admit where we're wrong, and can then compromise on situations together," she says. "When our work schedules conflict, we compromise about caring for the children and doing household chores."
- FORGIVE
Happy couples are not grudge-holders. Millie, an interior designer, says, "Forgiveness means letting go of the small, petty annoyances. For the larger wrongs, it must be total forgiveness. You can't harbour anger or throw it back in his face."
- PRAY
You gotta have faith, and most happy couples have learned this lesson from their parents. Praying with your mate helps you respect and appreciate him, which helps you brag about him !

10 WAYS TO GET TO SLEEP
The person who thinks of gaining time by depriving himself sleep is making a great mistake-----for sleep is as essential to man as air, water and food. It is only during sleep the entire body relaxes. Sleeping also gives the brain a chance to mull over problems. The answer are often there when you wake up.
Any health professional and glamorous actress will tell you, regular, uninterrupted sleep is not only essential for a healthy mind and body but it will keep you looking young and gorgeous because it is while sleeping that your growth and repair hormones get to work that is between 2am and 3am for 60 minutes is the rush hour for growth hormones and other substance that build collagen and repair DNA damage that ooccur through exposure to the sun;s UV rays.
Not enough sleep and our eyes become baggy because the blood doesn't have time to wash away the toxins which naturally accumulate there. The skin----tired and hungry from its day's work ---is more porous during sleep, which means that a use of lot of moisturiser or other skincare products can be used for this is the time when they are likely to reach the lower levels of the skin as during sleep the dehydrated skin sucks in any moisture it can get. If it doesn't find any, the skin is more likely to wrinkle.
An adulthood needs 8---10 hours of sleep and 6---8 hours in old age . Difference in the sleep period is due to individual physilgical need, depending on higher physical and mental strength. Generally an average person can live happily and healthily with eight hours of sleep.
- Allow yourself plenty of time to unwind. Relax with a good book or listen to a soothing record or tape.
- Take a long, warm bath----add a few drops of your favourite oil to the bath water to make it extra relaxing.
- Massage is a wonderful way to soothe tense muscles. You can do it yurself but it's much nicer if someone else does it foor you. Concentrate particularly on neck and shoulders where tensioon tends to build up.
- Sip a warm, milky drink or camomile tea before gooing to bed. Avoid drinking coffee, ordinary tea and hot chocolate, which all act as stimulants.
- Never eat a bit meal befoore bedtime as digestion can delay sleep. But hunger can keep you awake, too, soo dieters shouldn't go to bed on a totally empty stomach.
- Try sleeping on a second pillow. Floral versions are the nicest------though some people swear by hop pillows for beating insomnia.
- Keep a window slightly open to let fresh oxygen circulate. Deprived of oxygen, our skin can't breathe and a build-up of carbon dioxide in a closed room will result in dull , tired-loooking skin.
- Relaxation exercises work well. Close your eyes and imagine a tranquil scene----perhaps a long, empty beach or breath-taking landscape. Put yourself into this fantasy situation ---- and imagine how easy it would be to go to sleep.
- Press the tips of your fingers together to form a steeple and hold until your eyes feel heavy. The concentration will help relax you.
- If you still can't sleep---don't just lie there. Get up and do something useful, like ironing. But don't worry about losing sleep, you'll probably catch up the next night.

WHAT IS OSTEOPOROSIS ?4>
Literally "porous bones," osteoporosis sets in later life when bones began to lose density. As bones weaken, the chance of fractures increases. Hips, wrists, and vertebra in the spine are especially vulnerable. While hips, wrists and other fractures occur due to a fall or other impact and vertebra commonly break during routine activities such as bending or lifting.
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF INSUFFICIENTT CALCIUM IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF OSTEOPOROSIS ?
Our body must maintain a constant level of calcium to function. Unfortunately, we excrete calcium normally every day. When we don't replace it daily , our body steals calcium from our bones, weakening them over time------a process that can contribute to the developement of osteoporosis.
Today, Osteoporosis is a major health threat, half of all women has an osteoporosis ---related fracture in their lifetimes and during menpause it is also a potential problem especially during the first years, when bone loss speeds up. Although Osteoporosis usually affects middle - aged and older people you should be aware of it's risk factors and prevention at every age.
OSTEOPOROSIS RISK FACTORS
- FEMALE

- MENOPAUSE OR ESTROGEN LOSS IN WOMEN
- SMALL FRAME,THIN BUILD
- CAUCASSIAN AND ASIAN RACES
- CALCIUM-POOR DIET
- HIGH FIBER INTAKE

Osteoporosis often sneaks up on people. Symptoms may not appear until it is well advanced. Then effective treatment becomes more difficult.

BUILD A RETIREMENT FUND FOR YOUR BONES
Calcium ----- a mineral found in dairy foods products are the richest source. Many people avoid cheese and milk because it is fattening. Adding to the problem, of inadequate amount of calcium. Diet consisting of high amounts of sodium and animal protein, both of which can increase calcium excretion. Some other good food sources include green vegetables----holds key to both building bone and limiting bone loss, are broccoli, kale, turnip greens, chinese cabbage, calcium-set tofu, canned fish, seeds, and nuts. Breads and cereals, while relatively low in calcium, contribute significantly to intake of this mineral because they are eaten so frequently. Calcium- fortified foods, such as orange juice and with added calcium, so can calcium supplements-----including over the counter antacids containing calcium carbonate or other forms of calcium which provide a reliable inexpensive source of calcium.
Daily allowance is 800 milligrams. For people who can't or won't get their calcium in foods, calcium supplements may be the best way to ward off osteoporosis.
