ILLINOIS SPOONPLUGGERS
October, 2000
Our next meeting will be held at the Elk Grove Public
Library, 1001 Wellington Avenue, on Thursday, October 12, 2000 and
will begin at 7:15PM.
The September meeting was attended by 10 members and featured
some informative fishing reports. Wally presented a structure map
of the fishing situation in Michigan that resulted in a great
catch of northerns. He detailed the areas the fish were using, the
depth he found them, the speed necessary to make them take, and
why he thought they were using this particular area.
Harry described his efforts on the cooling lakes and it's
obvious he's applying himself out on the water. Jim D. drew out a
structure situation on one of the lakes and members joined in to
analyze the map. Interpretation is certainly aided when ten
spoonpluggers put their heads together to discuss a particular
fishing problem!
Phil filled us in on his efforts in Wisconsin and
noted several areas that looked promising. Jim P. was back out on
the lake across the border, under good weather conditions, and
reported taking some nice northerns and smallmouth. George was out
to Wisconsin where fishing was tough. He has a trip planned to
northern Wisconsin before heading to Scotland for some
R&R.
Topic of discussion: Fishing reports will again be our focus
but now is a good time to analyze fall conditions and
tactics.
We do not have a meeting scheduled for December but we do plan
on having a holiday get together. There was some discussion about
meeting at a restaurant or bar centrally located to those members
planning on attending. The Home Run Inn was suggested as one
possibility because it's near our north side meeting site. If you
have any ideas please forward them to Jim, Wally, or Phil.
Leonard will be bringing lure orders to the meeting.
If you've placed an order and are unable to attend please contact
him to make other arrangements.
FYI: The fall fishing season is upon us. Look for conditions
to stabilize before the fish start moving again. Shallower lakes
with darker water color will be the first to be productive.
