Comments: Memorable
day! Fished with Jim Shell and it was just one of those days
where everything seemed to go right. Previous days winds had
been very strong but they backed off for us today; fish were
still active even though the front had passed on Thursday;
structures that we fished were unattended by other fishermen;
fishing pressure was light due to the weather with no problem
launching or picking up the boat. Started out on the natural
shoreline ridge where Jim got the first fish; a 17" walleye
followed a little later by a 26" walleye on the eastern edge of
ridge and then a smaller walleye, 15+", going west. Ed, who had
launched just before me, checked out an area close to the
launch rip-rap that produced a number of walleye in the 18"
range. It's in front of the white light post about 15' feet out
from the rip-rap. Going over it with the flasher shows an area
of some sort of break in the 8-9' range with no corresponding
feel on the lures; so I don't really know what it is; just have
to check it out! Moved to the wind gauge area and hit a 16"
walleye on the road that appears to be an extension of the
access road into the water. On to the north pool where we hit a
22" walleye as I was showing Jim the sightline for the hump!
Stopped to cast but no more action. From there we went to the
rock pile on the ridge where, despite the wind, Jim got 2
walleyes on the cast using a gidzit. Checked out the "bottle
opener" on the troll but nothing. Moved back to the ridge in
the south pool and we took our last walleye, 17", about 1:15PM.
We called it a day!
