| Walk Away Dreams: Chapter Seven I plopped down on the kitchen stool as everyone settled in the apartment. Everything was still the same...even the large amount of dishes that settled in the sink. "Thanks guys," I said "No problem," Mallie said with a smile. "We planned on possibly going out to eat in celebration that you're back," Gina said. "I'm really tired...can we save it until tomorrow?" "Of course," replied Gina. Gina and Mallie said goodbye and went to their apartment. "Well, I'm going down to Jon's hospital," I said while getting the keys. "Wait, wait," Zei said while taking the keys from me. "Let me drive you there okay?" "Okay," I sighed. We both made our way down the car and left. The car made me a little nervous. I grasped the seatbelt a little tighter when we entered into traffic. Zei glanced at me holding the seatbelt. "You all right?" "Yeah...just can't help it." Finally we arrived. She found a parking spot and squeezed the car in the space. We got out and entered the massive hospital. People were everywhere. After getting the information where Jon was at, we took the elevator to the floor. We stepped off the elevator. "Do you want me to wait for you?" "Yeah, just a bit," "I'll be over here," Zei said while pointing to a nearby chair. I made my way to his room, which the door was slightly open. I held my breath and pushed my way through. I walked slowly to the center of the room and turned. There he was. Inching closer I finally was right beside him. He looked peaceful. I began to tear a little again as I studied his face. I held his warm hand into mine. "I'm so sorry this happened...I feel like in some way it's my fault. I don't know why...I just do. Everything I seem to touch disappears from me..." I couldn't finish my sentence as more tears trickled down my nose. "I'm going to come see you everyday," I finally said. "I care about you a lot...more than you'll ever know." I began to lift my hand from his, but stopped. I felt a squeeze... "You mean that?" Jon whispered lightly. I smiled. "Of course." -----several months later---- I stared at the television screen and laughed. My favorite show in the whole wide world was on. I was glad to see it again, it had been so long it seemed since I last saw a new episode of The Daily Show. Jon was back to his old self again. Leaning back into the plush, cream colored couch I stretched. Only to have my hands grabbed and eyes covered. "Guess who?" the voice said. "Um...." "Guess!!" "Is it...George? No no...Jahn? Wait- Let me try again....Jason?" "What? George, Jahn, and Jason??" the voiced stated defensively. "You better try again..." "I need a clue!....Just like in Blues Clues..." I opened my mouth prepared to sing the signature song from Blues Clues, but was replaced by lips. "There's your clue." "I need two more clues...." I smirked. "Fine by me," said Jon freeing my arms. "Good!" I smiled. |
