| Walk Away Dreams: Chapter Five ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jon looked up to what was around him...except...there wasnt anything. He could hear voices around him...chatting softly, only to be able to make out a few words here and there. He tried to lift his hand...which, it seemed like he did...but didnt feel anything. He couldnt see...or touch...nor could he utter any words. Whats going on? his mind screamed. Frantically thinking about the last thing he could remember. He remembered...being in a cab, which was late at night...rain...and...he was with someone...a young woman. "I dont think we will know what else we can do for him," said a voice. "There has to be something..." "All we can do is to hope he makes it through tonight." "What am I going to tell the girl, Chrystal? She just woke up a few moments ago and is wondering what happened to him. I told her friends not to say anything just yet...poor girl has gone through enough." "I know, but she has to learn about his condition...he could very well not be alive tomorrow or...stay in his coma." Jon let those last words sink in...he was in coma. He couldnt believe it. Never did he imagine that he would be this close to death. At least...so it seems, Chrystal is alright he thought. I would rather it be me than her... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Well?" I said slightly agitated that no one had answered me yet. Mallie finally broke the awkward silence. "We can't tell you anything because...we don't know." "Right," Gina said softly. "But...yall should know something! A-a-ask the nurse, doctor, anyone! Someone!" I stammered. "They just don't have anything to tell us right now, I'm sorry," Mallie said as she rose up from the stool. Tears began to form as I turned away from them. `Why are they lying to me? They have to know something...Why aren't' they telling me?' The sunlight from between the blinds awoke Zei from her slumber and looked on what was happening. "What's wrong?" "What's wrong? What's wrong??" I said between my breathes from crying. "Something seriously bad has happened to Jon...and none of yall will tell me." The room stayed quite. "Get out...leave me be," I finally said. "I'm sorry," Zei stated as she looked to the others. "Just go please..." They all reluctantly left. I felt bad for what I did...I didn't really want to be alone here. I sniffed and wiped my eyes. I just had to find out. I rolled over to my side and pushed the nurse call button. I then set back waiting for the nurse to come. "You need something Ma'am?" the short and stout woman asked in a friendly voice. "Yes, I want to know the current condition of Jon Stewart. Just please tell me, then you can leave, alright?" "Alright...well as for minor injuries, he was lucky in what he suffered physically as you were, no broken legs but was pierced in the accident by the metal. He does have broken arm in two places. For the major part of what he suffered, the way he was hit created serious concussion...he's currently in a coma. He's been relocated at a nearby hospital that offers more than we can for him." "Thank you. You can leave now," I said in a calm voice. The door was closed quietly as she left. I just started blankly at the window at the setting sun. Tears beginning to stream down my face. `It's like the world hates me' I thought to myself. All I could do was just cry. |
