Walk Away Dreams:  Chapter 2

--------later that evening---------

Zei fumbled with the keys as she pried the door open of our apartment as I followed with suitcases and bags in hand.  Amazing how much stuff you end up with when your coming back from somewhere.  Who knows what all these bags contain....fruitcakes...socks...probably my lost drivers license and....perhaps the missing half of my golden, glazed donut that was left unattended in the kitchen.

I set the bags down by the door, which my arms burned from the weight.  Note to self...work out more.
I flopped down on the couch, causing dust to rise-- which I then had a sneeze attack...about 8 sneezes in a row.

"Goodness, bless you child," Zei responded as I continued to sneeze.

"Your like a friggin sneeze factory."

I breathed in finally.

"I know it," I said while I snuggled into a little ball on the couch.  I glanced over at the clock, it was about 6:20 P.M.

I wonder if hes actually going to come?  Im still confused if that was real or not.  I am perhaps psychotic.

"Well, what are you waiting for?  Aren't you going to get ready for Jon?" Zei asked impatiently.

"I really doubt hes going to come, I dont even think that scene even happened."

Zei groaned.  "For heavens sake, be happy!  Hes going to come- and call I bet you."

"Yeah, yeah." I waved her off while I snuggled more on the couch and began to make a cocoon of pillows.

Zei went into her room to put away her bags.  I just laid there staring into space.  I finally got up (while breaking warmth of the cocoon of pillows) to drag my stuff to my room.  Just then the phone rang.  I sort of just stared at it.  Zei came running in motioning me to answer.

I ran over to the phone and slowly picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Hello, is Chrystal there?"

"This is she."

"Hey, Its Jon"

"Hey, whats up?" I swallowed nervously while looking at Zei.

"Just making sure we are still on at 8:00 tonight?"

"Yes em"

"Great, Im going to have our little date plans a surprise, so just wear something dressy like"

I laughed.  "Dressy like?  Thats a new word."

"I dont know your terms of fashion," he teased.  "But you get what I mean."

"Of course, anyways, Ill see you soon then?"

"Yes, I will be there."

"Great, later then" I beamed.

"Later."

I hanged up the phone.

"Coolness in a box!" I stated.

Zei laughed and snorted.  "See, I told you he would call.  Now, lets find you something dressy to wear hum?"

"Yes lets!"  I skipped down to my room as she followed.

I began to flip through my clothes, never had I noticed I had exactly 17 pairs of blue jeans...and god knows how many t-shirts.  I am the stereotype of a college kid.

"I think I need to cut down on the t-shit blue jean ratio."

Zei glanced though.

"If that isnt true."

"I think I want something that has a skirt, but all I have is this black and red flowerily one that Ive worn to a funeral and birthday parties to....even graduation I think."

"Eek, your not wearing that.  Come, come my dear, to my closet you need help," Zei laughed.

"I think I have the perfect outfit for you to borrow...and you better not spill anything on it!"

"Dont worry...Ill be extra careful."

Zei pulled out a gorgeous, sleek, maroon skirt, which about was a inch and a half above the knee.  It also had a sheer fabric on the outside, that gave it a flowly effect.  Along with the skirt there was a blouse with a deep V neck line that was sleeveless that complimented the color of the skirt.    Simple, but very sexy.

"Your the greatest," I said as I hugged her.

"I know, you do realize your now going to be my slave."

"Yes mistress..."  I bowed.

I went back into my room to shower and primp.  I couldnt wait.

------7:54 P.M. that night-----

I clutched the edge of the couch that I was sitting on so tightly my hands were turning white.  A lump in my throat began to form.  I was so nervous I wanted to die.  I really did.  I couldnt believe how panicked I was feeling.  I looked over to the clock.  7:57 P.M.

Zei looked at the train wreak before her.

"Dont be so edgy!  Everything is going to be fine!"

"I know...I just cant help it.  Im just so flustered."

"Just take a deep breath.  Nothing can go wrong if your just being yourself."

I looked at her.  "But...but...I may say something stupid...or...fall,"  I laughed.  Laughing made me feel a bit better.  I was still nervous though.

Knock Knock.

I gulped.  Zei grabbed me.

"Breathe!"

I blinked.

"Im fine...really!"

"Uh-huh"

"Im...cool and collected now," I said while shaking like a newborn kitten.

"Well, I think its best I go wait aside and you go answer it hum?"

"Alright....I can do it..."

My mind wandered.  I can do it...I can do it...I cant do it...I think I left the oven on.

I began to step back but Zei pushed me in the direction of the door.

I finally gripped the amber stained doorknob and opened it where a smile greeted me on the other side.  I was relieved.  I returned the smile.

I stepped into the doorway and greeted Jon.  He looked quite handsome.  He wore a white collared button shirt with a dark coat that fit his form with pants and a crosshatched tie to match.

"You look beautiful," he said as he handed me a single red rose.

I blushed as I held the rose shakily.

"Thank you,  let me put this in some water and we shall be on our way.  I will be right back."

I made my way to the kitchen halfway when Zei grabbed it and shooed me away.

"Good luck," Zei whispered.  I smiled.

I made my way back to the door.  He then grabbed my hand and escorted me down the pathway.  I couldnt believe the night that was still yet to come.
