| Walk Away Dreams: Chapter Six ~~~~~~~~~~~~ The nurse came in with a sad look on her face. "I'd just thought I would let you know...he's gone," she stated bluntly. "Wha- what?" "I'm sorry hun, it's just how things played out." "That can't be..." "It is, and it's your fault." ~~~~~~~~~~~~ I jumped up from my bed and took in a deep, short breathes. Sweat mixed in with my past dried tears as I came to realize that it was a dream. At least, I hoped it was. I tore off all the attachments that clung to my skin and began to step from the bed on to the cold tile floor, gritting my teeth from the pain shooting from my leg. I took a few steps then began to fall, but held the wall that guided me to the window. I made my way to the chair and looked out at the full moon. I pressed my hand against the window, which left an imprint from the warmth of it. Drowsiness entered my body again and I began to slump into the chair. "I have to see him," I told myself. I attempted to lift myself from the chair but only took a few steps till I blacked out again. I laid on the floor till dawn till a passing doctor went by my room and saw me. ----3 weeks later---- I pulled on my gray sweatpants, quickly tying the string into a bow and rolled the top of the pants over once so I could walk without worrying to trip over the pant legs. Then I slipped on my favorite dark blue T-shirt that said Tomcats 38 on the back. Completing my outfit with my gray and white sneakers from Journeys. I opened the bathroom door and looked around the room to see if I was missing anything. "Got everything?" Zei asked. "Yeah, I think so," I said still scanning. I finally was released from this place. Zei, Gina, and Mallie came to pick me up. Previously in the past weeks they visited regularly, even after that little fiasco, which I later apologized for acting the way I did. They told me they didn't blame me at all. I grabbed the bags of things that I had gotten such as cards and stuffed animals from family and friends. Most of which were from random people. The television news broadcasts were mostly responsible for that my friends told me. We exited the room and made our way to the lobby. "Just a sec," I said to them making my way towards the counter. The nurse that cared for me looked up at me and smiled. "I'm so glad you're all better now." "Thanks....um...any news?" "He's still the same, I'm sorry." "It's all right, thanks," I said and turned back towards my friends. As soon as I get home I'm going to see him I told myself. |
