Yes, Folks.  He's still going. . .

Movie: Robert was also apparently too good to pick a movie, however he did write an extremely interesting treatise on the art of filmmaking.  It was either that or the history of early Patagonian cuisine.  I'm not too sure, because I was already in a state of deep slumber after reading through eight pages of his favorite songs.  So, I've assigned Robert a movie which I think fits his personality quite well.  It's 'Cannonball Run', everyone's favorite Burt Renold's movie.  If you're really interested, this is what Robert had to say on the subject:

"I just had a list going here which I was going to split into movie genres, but I just kept adding more and still wasn't really happy with what I was ending up with.  So, instead of actually namimg movies, here are some criteria that I look for when choosing my movie entertainment.

There's not necessarily any consistency to be found in the movies that I enjoy.  I'm like the Hayes Code - I know them when I see them.  And I can't stand Robin Williams comedies.  Not a big fan of Monty Python movies either.  I hate self-congratulatory, back-slapping movies, or movies with spontaneous rounds of applause from groups of people in offices, etc.  (I know Malinda understands that one). I love absurd humor, am a complete sucker for romantic comedies that aren't made with ingredients from the "1001 Cliches for Unnatural Clunky Dialogue in Romantic Filmmaking" recipe book, and I like my dramas dramatic, atmospheric, and moody.  Oh, and I'm really not a big fan of the recent spate of teen movies.

By the way, absolutely all of that should be taken with a grain or 500 of salt.  I fully reserve the right to completely disregard any or all of everything I've just written when the right movie comes along."

Wow, wasn't that just fascating.  If you're awake, you can read about Robert's worst car below.

Worst Car: 1997 Fiat Cinquecento.  Also known as the "Chicken Placenta."  Robert says, "It's about the size of an egg, anyway.
Nickname for Martin: "Mr. Sunday Fun-Day Man".

Robert officially moved to the United States from Ireland in 1998 and settled in Los Angeles, where all the Irish immigrants hang out and plot against the "English pig-dogs."  He got a job at Grey Advertising as an account assistant on the Edison International account, where I met him.  Over the past year and a half, Robert and I have become good friends and movie buddies.  He basically forces me to go to the movies with him so that he won't have to listen to me complain that I never go to the movies.  Robert has also been a great friend to Jody since she's moved down to Southern California, for which I thank him.  Robert's a good listener and has great advice to give when he's asked for it.  He also has every piece of electronic entertainment equipment known to man crammed inside one of the world's smallest apartments (not as small as mine, though).  The list includes: TV, stereo/CD player, receiver, surround sound, DVD Player, TiVo, VCR, Direct TV, and a 200-disc changer.  If you're looking for a great way to pass the time, ask Robert to recite via memory all 1200 titles in his CD library of Canadian female singer-songwriters.  If you ask him to start today, he just might be done by the time Jody and I get back from our honeymoon.
