This is the information you've been waiting for!  Below you'll find all the dirt, family secrets, skeletons in the closet, and nasty gossip about my parents.  If you e-mail me the secret password (found elsewhere on the site) then I'll even send you a picture of my dad doing an Elvis Presley impression.

Harry Albert Thomas (Dad)
Yep, his name's Harry but he's bald as a. . . Hm.  I'm not sure what the analogy is for bald-people.  But, whatever it is, he's that bald.

My dad was named after his uncle Harry Blodgett and got his middle name from his dad, Albert Thomas.  Harry Blodgett's son Jim lives in Denver with his wife Jean.

Dad was born in San Pedro, California (his mom was there on the way to catch a ship to visit her husband who was on business in Saudi Arabia).  He briefly lived in Saudi Arabia with his mom and dad as a baby until World War II got into full-swing and all of the Americans overseas raced to get home.  There's a pretty interesting story about this whole thing, but I'll save it for people who
e-mail me and ask.

Dad went to school all over California (his dad moved around a lot) and graduated from Salinas High School.  He went to a few colleges, including Santa Ana College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (the "real" Cal Poly, he calls it) where he studied technical drawing.

Later on, my dad joined the Navy and served in the early 1960s in the Pacific, traveling to Japan, the Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong, and other parts of Southeast Asia that were involved in some sort of "police action" at the time.  While in the Navy, Dad was introduced to my Mom by an old friend of his from Salinas High School.  When his navy tour ended, he proposed to my mom and they were married on August 15, 1964 in Carmel, California.  They had my sister, Stacy, a little over three years later.

Dad's done quite a bit of different jobs over the years, including: picking lettuce and other produce in the fields in Salinas, doing general maintenance work at the various hotels that his dad owned, being a radarman in the Navy, a gas station attendant, a cab driver in San Francisco, and finally a technical marketing sales representative for Union 76 (where he retired from after more than 32 years with the company).

Dad was also involved in the Order of DeMolay as a young man, and joined the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite later on.  Most recently he was the League Administrator of Citrus DeMolay League until some yay-hoo in charge decided to disband the league system (even though it was working perfectly fine) and get rid of all the League Administrators.  We gave Dad a nice send-off at a special awards ceremony, though, and of course I made some sarcastic remarks about the jerk who "ended an era".

For hobbies, Dad likes to Square Dance with my mom ("the horror". . . ) and also likes photography and playing golf.  He has a bunch of really cool photography equipment and golf stuff that just sits in his closet and collects dust, because his real hobbies lately are sitting in front of the computer and yelling about how slow his connection speeds are, and working on a plane that he bought from a "make your own plane in the comfort of your backyard" kit.

Yep, Dad has a pilot's license.  Fly with him at your own risk.  'Nuff said.
