Heaven-Sent Innocence: Goten
In-Depth So we know that Goten is Goku's second son
and Trunks' best friend. But there's more to this kawaii
saiyajin than just being the son of a hero and all that.
| Punk?
Monster? Goten first
transformed into his super saiyajin form in front
of Chichi, and it drove Chichi wild. In fact, she
called him a punk (American version) and
a demon (Philippine version). Seems like
Chichi has supersaiyano-phobia, ne? Perhaps she
just doesn't want Goten to grow up to be like the
battle-hungry muscled warriors called super
saiyajins. Of course, we all know that Goten is
no punk, and certainly no monster either! Look at
that kawaii kid! Isn't he just adorable? |
 |
I Love Orange Juice! This is
something you might have noticed during the Tenkaichi
Budokai. Goten's love for orange juice! Well since he's a
saiyajin, he must love anything as long as its edible,
but he seems to have some sort of inclination towards
orange juice. At least it's healthy. Goten, softdrinks
are bad for your health.

Mighty
Mask. Because of their desire to compete
in the Senior Division, Goten and Trunks stole
Mighty Mask's costume and took his place instead!
Well... it was Trunks idea, actually. Their
escapade was fun and exciting, until #18 blew
their cover. So how did it all happen? A few
moments after the Battle Royale began, only
Mighty Mask, #18 and Mr. Satan were left.
However, Mighty Mask ignored Mr. Satan and
charged for #18 instead. Even if they're having
problems in terms of balancing, they still gave
#18 a hard time. However, when they got stuck in
a difficult situation, they did not hesitate to
transform into super saiyajin... and #18 noticed
that. When they found out that #18 knew, they
began to panic. She sent a ki-blast towards them,
and in panic, they ran to different directions.
The ki-blast split their costume in two, and
their cover was blown. |
Just Naive, Not Dumb. Goten is NOT dumb. He just
inherited Goku's naiveness. True, he might not have known
what a magician was, but who can blame him? He lived in
the mountains for years! But he can communicate with
animals well. Isn't that smart? And who could forget what
he did in Movie 11? True, Trunks might have known what
bio-senshi were, or what biotechnology was, but it was
Goten who figured out how to stop the bio-fluid!
| What's
With The Hair? Enough with Chibi Goten and let's
talk about Teen Goten, the 17-year-old you see at
the end of DBZ. The first thing you'll notice...
is the hair. Some fans may actually like
it, but the majority don't. Pass on the scissors!
It's haircut time! Teen Goten doesn't live up to
the fans' expectations, unfortunately. In the
Tenkaichi Budokai held at the end of DBZ, he
loses to Pan, his four-year-old niece. |

Friends Forever. The transition
from DBZ to DBGT is a bizarre evolution for the series.
But some things never change. And that includes Goten and
Trunks' friendship. They're still friends. Best of
friends, for that matter. However, some people take this
friendship in a different manner. Some people think that
there's more to Goten and Trunks than just being friends.
Please. They could be considered as brothers, but
definitely NOT lovers.

NOT
A Player. Some people say
that GT Goten is a player. Well I say he's not.
True, he's lazy and he loves girls, but that
doesn't mean he's a player. Goten had only one
girlfriend in the series, and that's Paresu. So
you can't call him a player. Dating girls doesn't
make you a player. Having many girlfriends at the
same time will make you one. |
Where'd Goten Go? You don't see much of Goten in
GT, though. He was supposed to accompany Goku, Trunks and
Pan in the search for the Black Star Dragonballs in outer
space, but Pan pressed the ship's button when Goten still
wasn't on board, making the ship leave without him.
However, part of the blame goes to Paresu, his
girlfriend, who called him up on the time he was supposed
to board the ship for their adventure. Later on, he gets
possessed by Bebi. Poor Goten-sama.

Father, Like Son...? Goten, undeniably, is
Goku's spinning image. He looks so much like his
father, and everybody can attest to that. Because
of that fact, most fans expected Goten to grow up
like Goku and be the star of DBGT, but instead,
the writers turned Goku into a kid so he can
still be the star. Another Goku-Goten issue is
that of Goku not being a good father, and the
fact that he spent much time with Gohan when he
spent next to no time with Goten. Well... you
decide. |
