-----Original Message----- From: Lassey, Jason Sent: Friday, 25 February 2005 2:52 pm To: Team leaders Subject: As you know, I lead a very contented lifestyle and it takes a fair amount of aggravation to raise my ire. Essentially, I'm not one for unnecessary recriminations. However, it is with some concern that I note the ongoing discriminatory behaviour that continues to be perpetrated by those in leadership positions on this very floor. I speak of course of the ongoing pandering to the "fruit lobby" here at Telstra. As previous emails have addressed, I am both saddened and disheartened by the companys decision to further the aims and goals of those who believe in healthy living and a better lifestyle. The forcing of these "enlightened beliefs" upon us is tantamount to a new and disturbing type of ethnic cleansing. The weeding out of the meat eaters from the vegtable eaters. The free hand-outs of fruit and vegetable matter, panders to the dietary nazi regime that many have come to take for granted. What next? Will Telstra allow the distribution of communist literature in the foyer? As we all know, Telstra is an equal opportunity employer, and if one socio-political group is given a platform for its quasi-religious system, than surely other niche groups should be granted the same rights and priveliges. I, for one, refuse to be taken in by this new socio-political force. I find the forcing of fruit down our throats to be an offence against both god and man. (although some gods may be more accepting of the practice, for instance Jesus is very forgiving, while Krishna kills all in his path). This type of practice differs little from the white missionaries who attempted to transform africa both spiritually and culturally in the 15th - 19th centuries. You'll note, that this practice met with limited success, and is not really followed any more. The problem is, the basic premise of fruit distribution is founded on a shaky premise, namely that it will make us healthier, and our lifestyles along with it. Yet the same company hasnt converted to solar power, or cleaner energy types, hasnt banned smokers (of both legitimate and illegitimate materials), and actively promotes the distribution of alcohol through the social club raffles and draws. If the company is going to promote healthy living, then surely they must campaign against ALL vices not just unhealthy dietary functions. There comes a time in every mans life where has to stand up and be counted for his opinions. As the immortal Julius Caeser said when he planted the Eagle standard in Britain: I will not leave, until I have conquered. (the fact that he left Britain before accomplishing this is not relevant to this story - Britain fell to Claudius about 25 years later). We must be rocks against the raging tide of vegetables, fruits and in rare cases, cheeses, if we are to preserve our Australian way of life. Once, we were heroes, now we are persecuted for our ability to weigh anchor aganst the forces of organic diet. Jason M.
