As of March 6, 2006, It's the Bryan Show! is on hiatus. I have no idea how long this will last. It could be temporary, it could be forever. Anyway, if you'd like to know of any impending return to the airwaves by yours truly, whether it be in the old time slot, a new one, or just a fill-in, either check this website periodically, join my MySpace for a bulletin message, or send me an e-mail with a subject heading along the lines of "Don't leave me this way!" and I'll let you know of any upcoming DJing. Thanks to all who've listened and enjoyed what I've thrown on over the years.
My programme was a freeform general music show, meaning I had free reign over what gets played under my watch and was of no set genre. View previous playlists here if you'd like to get a feel for what I played in the past, and could possibly play in the future. I'm a DJ. Just like Charles Manson.
* Stuff I liked in 2005. I guess a "Best of" essay if you swing that way.
* Funding Drive 2005 is over. We raised around $105,000. Go to CKCU's website and pledge online through the secure form if you missed out on the fun and would like to donate. Thanks to everyone who donated to me: my mom, Arlene, Ryan, Ron, Andrea, Susan G, Bill, Nigel H, Rupi C, Impress Driving School, Chris I, Bruce W, Shawn S, Christiane T, Ian C, Craig, Susan B and Jeanine B.
* I'm trying to remember the last band I interviewed. I'm thinking it's Bettie Serveert in the spring of 1997. I interviewed the drummer. You know what I've always wanted to do? Have a band come on my show and play records, just to see what they've chosen. I remember Trans AM coming and DJing on someone's show prior to me getting my own show (spring 1996) and I thought that was kinda cool. Someone also told me a DJ had Jonathan Richman come on years ago, and they would alternate tracks, playfully trying to out-do each other. My show usually involves me sitting in a chair while Christian comes in and whines while looking for CDs.
* In an effort to unclog the directory housing the files for this site, I moved all the old Main Pages to their own sub-directory, and gave them their own page to boot. Now you can see all your old favourite introductory pages to ItBS! here.

If you just can't get enough of my playsheets, here's some old ones from the vault:Sept - Dec 1998: About half the shows are from my Thursday at noon timeslot, the rest are from my Monday morning, 10:00 - 13:00 timeslot. There's even a July and an August 1997, 23:00 - 02:00 playlists thrown in for fun.
Jan - May 1999: When I was hosting Monday mornings. The show was reduced (at my pleading) to 10:00 - noon. A few of the January shows may have been three hours, though.
June - Nov 1999: What were to be the end of my DJing for nearly four years.
* I've been listening to the radio today, largely because I can keep it at a low volume after the insanely loud Sharon Jones show last night. I heard "Fight For Your Right (To Party)" on The Bear this afternoon and "W1ck3d" W3nd4 Dan13l5 sounded so pumped to having had played them. How time changes things. I remember back when the Bear was 54 Rock, they had a nightly thing where bands would send info to the station to be read on air, to help find people for bands. One person wrote an influence on the band looking for members was "the Beastie Boys" to which W3nd4 said "Eeeeewww!" after reading. This was probably 1992, 1993, after the B-Boys had redeemed themselves artistically/morally/spiritually, but she probably didn't know that, meaning she was basing her strong dislike on the B-Boys on... "Fight For Your Right (To Party)".
* More fun than should be legally possible: Superman is a dick.
* Here's the most played 2004 releases on my show in 2004. Also, sort of a work in progress (ie, stuff will be added, that Simon Finn write up is a place holder, etc), here's an essay of stuff I like in 2004.
* FUNDING DRIVE 2004: CKCU's annual Funding Drive has come and gone, again. I earned $486 over the course of 2 hour and a half shows. Thanks to all who donated (my mum, Tony H, Zaira A, Pascal Jolicoeur, Shawn Scallen, Dan L, Andrea S-K, Ryan B, Claude H, Derek B, Marius S, Alnoor A and Chris I.), and thanks to those who answered phones. You can still donate to the show if you missed out. Go to CKCU's secure online pledge form. The station itself made over $110,000 surpassing its goal for another year! Thanks to everyone who donated and made it another successful campaign.
* Hokey smokes! I just found out (July 17) I was nominated for "Best Radio Show/Meilleur programme la radio" in March 2004 at the Golden Cherry awards, a local arts awards ceremony! I wish somebody had told me, especially considering how awful I felt at the time (and I would've enjoyed the irony of getting this after having just done a show where a caller chewed me out for "playing Top 40 music" and called me a waste of money that he donated to the station). I'd say something self-deprecating like "I was probably only chosen to fill out the last slot and my name was next to Friday Morning Cartunes/I'd just taken over Whatever's Cool with Me" but I was still on Wednesdays at the time of the nomination. So, um, thanks to whoever nominated me. (Some web surfing tells me All in a Day, a CBC show hosted by Br3nt Bambur4, won. I was up against John Westhaver and Mr. Brave New Waves?!)
* "Theme From Gilligan's Island" done "Stairway to Heaven" style. Speaking of "Stairway", backwards masking fun.* If you've ever wanted to be able to record your favourite radio show and burn it to disc for later listening, Kempa.com shows you how in the February 19th update.
* I made a list of albums/songs I liked in the year 2003. It can be read here. That's the list as of January 2, 2004. I had planned to add any albums I'd missed during that year, and comments to each recording on the list, but, you know, the ghost of good intentions.... The official Top 50 albums (based on airplay) for CKCU can be seen here. I've played one album on the list.
* ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh! I want these Run DMC action figures! (Thanks to my son Pea J, I got the minis)
* Long-time fixture on CKCU's Wednesday afternoon schedule, Leanda, aka DINGO GIRL, is on the radio again! She's co-hosting a show on CIUT 89.5 FM in Toronto called About the Music. It airs Friday afternoons from 3-5 PM. Listen in Real Audio here.
* Finally, my show gets some press.
* FUNDING DRIVE 2003: CKCU's annual Funding Drive has come and gone. I earned a respectable $250 for my hour and a half show. Thanks to all who donated (my mom, Ryan, Ethan, Dan & Fran, Michael, Gwen, and Arthur), and thanks to those who answered phones and came on the air to help me out. The station surpassed the $30,000 mark under my watch! You can still donate to the show if you missed out. Go to CKCU's website, and fill out the trusty online form. The station itself made over $100,000! Thanks to all who donated and made it another successful campaign.
