31st March Poor little Jolene Bong who survived the car crash in
Muar... her parents and brother died in the car accident, leaving her the only
survivor. It is so dramatic... reminded me of a book called A lost childhood.
It's about this boy whose mother died after being murdered by a
Jack-the-ripper-wannabe serial killer. His childhood is haunted by the event,
he's adopted but the news kept reminding him of the nightmare... how his
relatives or friends never mention about the incident... how nobody else ever
acknowledge that he was in pain.
Kinda bad for me to make a joke out of poor little Jolene... I was inspired by
her story and narrated her life story to make it into a korean drama... she gets
adopted by the uncle and thinks that the uncle is her father. At the same time,
she is interested in her 'brother' but knew that they couldn't fall in love.
Later she realizes that the 'father' is actually her uncle... and her brother is
actually his cousin... but too late... TYPICAL rite, lolx. ok it jus kinda
sparked off in my mind... no offence to her and her family.
Anyway, haven got time to really try tasty food these days, so here's a little
change to topic to some of the places and sights I wanna visit in the future.
Firstly...the Sakura blossom season in March/Apr in Japan.
It'll be so wonder to walk between the two rows of Sakura trees, in a cool
weather where I'll be wearing cotton jacket. The sun shines upon my face but
never scorches the skin. Every breathe of the air rejuvenates my body and
refreshes my mind. Pure indulgence whilst submerged in the romantic environment
allows me to enjoy every second and mumble to myself "How wonderful life
is..."
Next, I'm sure most of you have seen these two hands somewhere... maybe in books
or movies or even on the MRT (I've seen an ad with this). No it does not belong
to the a boy and an E.T. ! LOL. It comes from the Sistine Chapel, the famous
painting my Michelangelo (who created the sculpture of David). This painting is
called the Creation of Adam, the centre piece of the Sistine Chapel ceiling as
shown on bottom right. The Baroque and Renaissance period created so many
beautiful art pieces and music. It's like seeing the Mona-Lisa times ten
thousand ba.
28th March Just came back from the SCO concert, been such a long time
since I watched SCO concert le. The last time was the Dick Lee one last year.
This time it features scottish instruments starting with the bagpipe. I really
like Irish music better (refer to the Riverdance tap dance video) but the
bagpipe is really cool... they march out... sophia say is like funeral march o.0
faintz. ya it's sometimes used in funeral but they were playing auld lang syne.
One of the song had repeating melody, which we claim to be the Scottish
equivalent of Feng Nian Ji, haha! They also played a song very similar to You
raise me up... very nice. The 2nd half was quite terrible... but there was the
violinist and the 'shou feng qin' player... he play like he's rowing the boat,
very funny. We made a lot of jokes la, so bad! So relaxing to watch the concert,
hopefully I can catch another one soon.
28th March March is coming to an end and I'm so glad to have attended
3 sectional practices so far. On Tues I was so depressed after failing the
driving test on Monday, lots of negative thoughts in my head... the NS
depression. NS caused so much of my life to be sacrificed~ Alex used to be so
committed and enthusiastic, so passionate about his work, friends and lifestyle,
so much in control of his own life. Now everything is so out-of-control, there
is nothing to look forward to or aim for... life is dwindling into a less-worthy
form... brain getting rusty. Kelly and Eve talked about some marketing terms
which we learnt before but it was clean-forgotten until they refreshed my
memories again.
Then I went for sectional practice and it was such a stress relief. Nothing
about NS... just music and laughter. Lin lao shi even offered free tickets for
the suona sheng section to watch the SCO concert this friday. And I could book
out in time to watch it, yay~ Now life for me is just... watching Survivor and
TVB shows... go to CO if i can, gather with friends and go out... just awaiting
for the next phrase in life - NTU.
I can hear the primary school beside me practising Long teng again, haha. Oh now
they're practising set piece bah... haha. Anyway, the most beautiful 7th Day
(TVB) is a very nice romantic show. Then the new song that I've been listening
to is 楊宗緯-洋蔥 from Taiwan One million stars. Enjoy.
25th March Failed my driving test... the warm up was pretty okay but
when I sat in the car and did the directional change, something was wrong...
dunno if I turn too late or what, just wrong lah then mount kerb - immediate
failure. After that on parking I strike kerb and a lot of other mistakes, ended
up with 24 demerit points and 1 immediate failure lo. HAIX. When it comes to
test always liddat... my legs were trembling lah. At sydney opera house oso not
so stress lo, this one is haix, dun tok abt it le.
Nice song~ from Xing guang 3 ... she's the forerunner of the competition.
Anyway, Saturday was suppose to go out with lots of CO peeps but one by one,
they fly my aeroplane... angry lo. Say ok ok den on the day itself, after I sms
then say cannot come. Afternoon was actually having lunch with Jeremy, Andrew,
Boyang and Hin Yeung... den wanted to hang out more with them budden had to rush
home and meet up with the CO ppl... then they fly my aeroplane like this. Means
I have to miss something to stick to the original plan, then HAIX. Luckily
weilin and xiao pang did come and we watched Step Up 2. Then xiao pang and I
went to MOF to eat Mame Mitsu~!!! Said to have slimming effects... xiao pang jiu
keep eating only the jelly and red bean, haha. Dessert lo, how to have slimming
effect!?
19th March Went to Sentosa with ZiCheng and Justin to relax at the
beach which wasn't too crowded, i like. There were many Japanese there... the
few times I went Sentosa also always see ni-hon-jin. We played beach volley...
v. v. long time never play volleyball le, wrist all red now, whoaha. The weather
was good manz.
Anyway teckie showed me one of the funniest auditions ever 'Ken Lee'~! A prequel
of Tu-late-tu-a-po-luo-gize.
After that I went for sectionals, time passes SO FAST when it's orchestra time.
We went through HK Love suite briefly, ignoring tuning and other technical
aspects. Just go through the rhythm and get some impression of the songs. Then
we realized Lin lao shi is sooo 'in'~ haha, Me and Shiying watched Rule #1, so
did lao shi... but Taurus did not. Then halfway through the song we had a break,
I asked... why they dun have Japanese Love suite. Then Taurus said where got
nice love song... I defended by saying "Under the same roof" (Tong zai yi ge wu
yan xia) the theme song.
I'm sure most of you would have heard of the song and the tv show title. Poor
taurus didn't~ LOL Dai gou~! Then we talked about Xin Guang Bang 3 where
Sugianto would be representing Singapore... I know, Shi Ying knows, Lao shi
knows but Taurus didn't know who Sugi is. Even lao shi watched all the Superstar
shows... kool~ Then lao shi say he watched '24', 'CSI', Heroes, Prison Break and
sometimes Discovery Channel and his favourite is History Channel. Taurus says
those DSC are so boring... I asked if he watched Meerkat Manor on Animal Planet.
Lao shi agreed that was a great show. Taurus asked what's a meerkat, then I said
its Timou & Pumba from Lion King that timou. I know, Shi Ying knows, Lao shi
knows but Taurus didn't know who Timou & Pumba are, cos he didn't watch Lion
King! AHHH! Dai gou~! Then I talked about Victoria's Secret Fashion show, he
dunno ok nvm. The funniest part came when I said heidi klum hosted for Project
Runway... Taurus say he knows... the show where starting there's an aeroplane
and then people start walking out from the aeroplane. Then lao shi, shi ying and
I burst out laughing~!!! That's apprentice, not project runway... Then lao shi
ask him what he watch, he say he watches those CCTV de show... some China
version of Xi Yuan Lu~ cos her mum forced him to watch, haha. so funny lahx.
Taurus got dai gou~ haha.
17th March

16th March Went to Pitstop cafe with Firewire and we played the
Pirates prison break game, strategy game. Then we also played something similar
to stress and finally one of my favorite game - Imaginiff! There's always this
question about which era would best describe me : 1. Biblical Era 2. Computer
age Era 3. Old West 4. Decadent Rome 5. Stone Age 6. Victorian Era. So far only
KK and Daniel Poh managed to get it right and that is Victorian Era! An era
rules by Queen Victoria where there is political, economical and social
stability... flourish of the arts and entertainment. Men dressed in tuxedoes and
women in those grand gowns, the buildings are like Victoria concert hall, Queen
Victoria Building. romantic and kool. Really had fun at the cafe, I got my
member card~ heehee.
Then we went over to Kevin's birthday party via Maxine's car. Her driving was...
scary, haha. she had such a hard time with parallel parking and at one point,
she was talking on the phone and changing lanes. Had hard time figuring out
directions and thus had to loop around many times, especially when trying to
find parking space. It was such a funny and interesting and scary experience.
Kevin invited all his family and friends over to a party reception at his condo
function room... he was standing at the door welcoming guest, ala Wedding
dinner, haha. So i asked him, where's the bride? LOL The food was good, the cake
was too sweet for me but Maxine loves it. Kevin then invited us to go to his
mum's pub but Eve wanted to sing K, so we went to K-ster at Chinatown. Quite
cheap la, cos we use student cards. They only checked Me and Eve, whoaha den
assume all got the card~ quite cool hor. I jus hun pian using student card
again, whoaha. We sang sooo many English songs which I usually don't do so it
was rather fun. sang until 4am ... whoaha, so fun. Then walked all the way
to Clarke Quay and sat by the river and just chill... then waited until 6.30am
to catch the train, I didn't catch the first one cos it's sooo crowded, took the
2nd one, haha.
More food which I ate recently, the xiao long pao was sooo ex, which li xin
bought. The jiu cai pie was nice, Sophia ate the Qiu dao yu japanese set.
Activate to find that stupid JI guy... so not sure when I'll be back... I
guessing at least 3 weeks away. please SMS me as and when to fill up my boredom.
Haix, hopefully i can update soon, cya.
13th March
Alicia Keys always have that one big song each album and
this one is really cool. Anyway I'm watching Victoria's Secret 07/08 now...
quite surprised that a lot of people dunno about this show. It's one of my
favorite each year, not just the models but also the production, lightings,
stage design, backstage. There's no more Gisele Bunchen and Tyra Banks le... but
Heidi Klums (pronounced Koo-looms, not clums) is still there and there's Adriana
Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio. Heidi's finale costume is sooo stunning!
And this is the S.P.I.C.E Girls on the show. still wondering why they were
sooo popular when we were primary 5... I even played the song Wannabe when I was
in band... LOL. I'm sure you can name at least 5 of their songs. Wannabe, Spice
up your life, 2 become 1, Stop, Holler.
Now watch the 1990s MV of Say you'll be there... now looking back at the MV,
it's so funny and cheesy! Geri's hair ~ LOL. Victoria don't really look THAT
beautiful leh... I can't stop laughing watching this MV now.
11th March
Mei cai kou rou Rice! $3 only.
Saw these 3 outlines of drum set, piano and guitar at
Esplanade for the Mosaic Arts festival. Interesting hor, many people were taking
photos of it. Anyway, I went to do my driving lessons today and it was superb! I
made only minor mistakes like turning abit too late and once I move off in wrong
gear. Well, the first time I did parallel parking I knocked down the poles but
that was because the instructor kept asking me to go backwards... >.< Anyway, I
saw a lot of people taking test and strike kerb, one even knocked down two poles
during parallel parking... scary! It was raining very heavily today bah, haix. I
hope mine will go smoothly.
FINALLY GOT TO TOUCH MY SUONA! I'm so elated and ecstatic... it's after two
months la... and I got the NYP open house dry fit tee, very very nice! Finally
they do something right for open house tees. Learnt Xia Si Qing Cao Di...
there's A diao lahz! faintz, have to memorise a whole new fingering. But I
played quite well la, despite the two months break. So it wasn't so bad, heheee.
Tomorrow suppose to go combine BUT because of someone and something, I have to
go back camp, ARGHZ. Next week bahz~!
10th March
Lately, I have a strange habit of watching and listening to
Western Classical music at like 3am in the middle of the night. The last week
was Canon in D by the Czech Philharmonic which I posted in Feb's page. Earlier
on, I was listening to Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons... I'm sure all of you
have heard of its Spring's First movement. Then I was listening to Tchaikovsky's
Piano Concerto No.1.
What I've featured here is New York's Philharmonic playing 'Arirang' in DPRK
North Korea. This is the first time so many American's enter North Korea as a
group, with about 200 media journalists. As an isolated country, allowing
journalists in is a big concern. This is one of the very few piece of news about
N.Korea which does not involve human rights abuses or nuclear weapon or Kim Jung
Il. Hearing New York Phil playing Arirang makes the world seems so peaceful ...
even the worst enemies may one day become friends. They played it ... so
touchingly. especially the piccolo solo (piccolo is the mini black flute). OMG
it's 3.40am now... I better sleep. Here's the other pieces during the concert.
Prelude to Act III of Richard Wagner's "Lohengrin."
"An American in Paris"
New World Symphony
9th March I'm really enjoying my holiday break, nt to Zi
cheng's house to play mahjong with Long Lao Shi & Justin. Even ZiCheng's mum can
recognize Long as our CO teacher-in-charge. Funny hor, teacher-in-charge play
mahjong with students, haha. This is really how CHSCO bonded~ :P The usual hak-boon
topic came about. Long was really accurate with whatever she says...
fortune-teller. LOL. And guess what, I never 'fang pao' or let anyone win any
game... yet... I didn't win a single game! Today was super bad luck la, and I
was abit blur blur also. Sunlight was directly shinning at me through the
window.
Zi Cheng is working at Merrill Lynch... big US investment company orh. So the 3
of us were giving Justin advise on choosing his university degree. Very ma fan,
we ended up telling him to go see a fortune teller. Talking about the
'interesting' things that still happens at Cat High, especially about someone
la. His stories never seems to die off de. NJC cut-off point is super duper low
this year, all thanks to IP.. I guess it's the same for all the other JCs.
8th March Do you guys know how hard it is to find a decent long
sleeve cotton shirt in Singapore that is of reasonable price?! It took me 3
weekends to search through Orchard, Bugis and I finally found it at Marina
Square's Muji. 50% discount so the shirt only cost $16.50! I was contemplating
to see if I should buy another color. There's a lot more nice clothes over at
Muji, really interesting.
Battled through the crowd of the IT show, where Angeline got a very quality
headphone from Creative for only $49! The usual price which we saw few weeks
ago, where Angeline was almost giving in to the price and almost bought it, was
$79! That's $30 down... woo! And a 1GB thumbdrive cost $10 now, freaking cheap.
I had a glance at the Macbook Air and it was super light and super style!
However, there was no 'holes' except a usb port and a power plug. Minimalist but
the design is so nice. Next year I shall spend some time researching and getting
a good bargain.
I walked pass the Lenovo booth and wanted to see how their laptops are. Then I
saw a female model posing beside a pseudo-sports car... the face is 'mo peng'
de. Then I didn't want to look at their laptops le, seeing how they don't even
have the QC to hire a proper model, it simply says a lot about their company and
their laptops. LOL. *shake head.
I saw soooo many people with the NTU goodie bag... meaning they all went to the
Open House. Intended to go today since we were suppose to celebrate Huiying's
21st birthday but her grandfather passed away, hence it was canceled. Quite
sorry for her, she'll always remember her 21st as the day after her grandfather
pass away. Then again, we can always celebrate it another day to compensate it.
My first time eating Mei Cai Kou Rou rice and it was really cheap and good - at
Quick Bites Marina Square. They offer a lot of hand made dim sum at bargain
prices too. It is opposite Qi-Ji... besides the Subway. Photos will be uploaded
soon. After dinner, Angeline Sophia and I went to the Esplanade's Nokia
Powerhouse (this outdoor performing tent) to watch a free Mosaic concert by an
American jazz singer, female. Not bad la her voice, very typical lounge girl.
But the arrangement of Bridge over troubled waters wasn't very nice. Seems like
the Nokia Powerhouse always have free performances on Saturdays. Quite a cool
place to sit by the river, enjoy the view (Fullerton hotel is really beautiful)
and enjoy the music. I really love the esplanade area...
7th March Had such a weird dream, a nightmare last night. In the
dream I was watching Cat High Chinese Orchestra for their SYF and then the news
on the tv announced that they only got gold. Which made me super duper sad...
Then Justin Kek (my CO junior) called to say that he only had one A for his A
level result. Then he said he got 4 points.
The A level result releases today and WHY am I so anxious for Justin, Alvin,
Derrick and the rest?! LOL. Okay la, equally anxious were Taurus and Zi Cheng.
Anyway, when I woke up, my gut feeling was that the opposite would come true.
That is usually the case for my dreams la, the opposite would come true,
happened a few times le. I immediately SMSed Justin and it made him pretty
panicky. LOL. Then I thought about it... 4 pts would mean 3As and 1 B. Grade A
is one point, B is two point, so 3A1B is 4 pts ma...
Guess what, IT'S TRUE!!! Justin got 3A1B... haha although I never managed to
hear what he had to say about his GP result in my dream. So happy for him and
hopefully he can choose a good degree course and not come telling me "I should
have chosen poly!" while studying A lvls. Congrats to Derrick as well~ As for
Alvin, I believe that you've already done your best, don't give up hope. As long
as you get into a degree that you like, the results don't really matter.
Thankfully I've already decided and accepted NTU mass comm. The university fees
have raised by so much this year! Absolutely crazy. Then I checked that the bank
loans are at an interest rate of 5.88% per annum! SO HIGH! It'll probably take 4
years of work to repay the loan. Hopefully next year I can become a brightspark?!
I heard that last Wed de CO practice only had 10 plus person attend... back to a
similar situation like when I was in year 1. WHY?! Haix... As what
Angeline said, any organization will have its up and downs, just that how long
the up is and how long the down is differ. Every year this time, I would be so
worried for recruitment because it means a lot for the orchestra. It won't be
easy and the road ahead will be even harder given the cut in budget. Hopefully
the new committee can work something out and solve the problem.
1st March Been such a long time since I went shopping... and this
time I did so at Orchard, late night shopping. Really exhausted because Sophia
and Li Xin can REALLY shop until they close shop... which is 11pm! Angeline and
I surrender le. I was hunting for a basic white long sleeve cotton shirt... t
shirt material just long sleeve... or those cotton weaved ones... SO HARD TO
FIND!!! It's either too thick or too expensive~ I wanna use it to layer my
clothes but if it's thick, will die of heat exhaustion. Many times we see in ads
or the mannequins, dressed up with 3 layers! collar shirt inside, then a long
sleeve cotton shirt and then a huge jacket. o.0 WHO WEARS LIKE THAT IN
SINGAPORE?!?!
Went to TAKA and saw all the high end brands cos Sophia was hunting for formal
blazers to wear to work. Then what I saw at the children section was sooo...
exciting. DKNY kids (that's Donna Karen New York if you don't know what it
means), Ralph Lauren kids, Burberry Kids, United Colors of Benetton Kids and the
best one ... ARMANI JUNIOR. It is so stylo milo ~ But it cost 168 for a shirt...
kid size! if there's an adult size I would sooo want to have it but it's gonna
be super ex, but the designs are really really cool! Website
here . I'm so amazed by the price and style these kids can wear. So jealous!
Haha.
After that we went to chill at Starbucks, hehee~ Seems to be our weekly habit
liaoz, to find a good coffee place and chill. Most important factor is the
ambience of the cafe... must be cosy and have a good view. Too bad the one we
went fulfilled this 2 criteria but it was a little noisy.
Here are the pictures of the Korean restaurant which
I ate with sophia xiao pang and meng shan at Liang Seah St. last week. About 38
bucks for the set meal, which mounts up to $10 per person. The side dishes are
great, the ikan bilis were sweet, the kimchi are the best I've tasted so far
(not that I've tried a lot) and the egg was decent. It looks small on the pic
but the BBQ Beef and the steam boat were really HUGE! 4 of us almost couldn't
finish the food. Sophia ordered the Korean Tea, didn't get to taste...ask her
about it. I would definitely love to go back there again.
