Born to Love
 為愛而生

29th Feb
Wee!!! It's February 29th, once every 4 years. But no girl propose to me la, haha. I can wait another 4 years de. I manage to book out, luckily! I was already at the gate when I got called back to attend a briefing, really gave me a SHOCK! Luckily it was just some short briefly and I book out to bid farewell to Meng Shan. She's flying back to Melbourne for studies~ We all ate at Lerk Thai (forgot to take pictures!) ayz. Why is everyone going overseas to study?

This song suddenly came into my mind today... so peaceful and soo... romantic for Feb 29th. I've been listing to Gold 90.5 FM to sleep each night, and sometimes I listen to Symphony 92.4 and International 96.3.  Upgrade myself le, haha listen to Symphony. Now very late le, shall blog more tomorrow.

28th Feb
As most of you would know by now, a JI guy is one the loose and that HUGELY affects me because of my full-time occupation now. Really really unlucky, I must go temple to pray and change my luck... not much time to blog cos need to go back to camp le, hopefully tomorrow can book out.

22nd Feb
Youth Olympic Games 2010 will be hosted in Singapore! I was so elated to hear the news over the radio that Singapore has won Moscow... So there's the Circle Line, Singapore Flyer, F1 race, Fina, Integrated Resorts and now the YOG~ Woo! Singapore is getting better and better. I wanna go volunteer and be part of the event organizing if possible... build up my resume also, haha. Will be so cool, international event leh... When Singapore hosted the IOC meeting, one of my dream was to part take something of this size, mega event. I'm sure the bidding committee put in a great deal of effort to put up a good pitch. Way to GO! I'm so happy for the committee and for Singapore.

My driving is getting bad to worse. Today I stalled engine like more than 10 times o.o! I really hate this instructor, when he walked towards me I was praying that he doesn't come in. Haiz, he always give so much stress and he SLEEPS during the lesson. ARGH. If I fail my driving test I'm gonna write a complain letter to SSDC. Please pray that I will pass next month.

"
It is better to have loved and lost it than to never love before" - The Leap Years
Adapted from Catherine Lim's Leap of Love (February 29th)

A saint once decreed, that if a women proposed on the 29th of February, the man cannot disagree. This is based on an true  Irish tradition - It is believed this tradition was started in 5th century Ireland when St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about women having to wait for so long for a man to propose. (In the past, only the man can propose to a woman for marriage) According to legend, St. Patrick said the yearning females could propose on this one day in February during the leap year. (The man would face a fine if he disagrees)

I can't really give this movie a review because it's a very simple love story and yet, it's so touching beyond descriptions and I'm in such a poetic mood ... lovey dovey sort, after watching the movie. It's officially dethroned Moulin Rouge to be my #1 Favorite Movie of all time. Ha! And it's a local production, surprise surprise. A lot of people were crying while watching the show and some even applauded when the credits rolled. Of course, there were a lot of funny jokes, especially by Vanetta Lopez. The poems and quotes are soo nice too!

A saint once decreed,
That a man must agree,
To a women's proposal Today.
Give me a sign,
whether to meet at eight
at the same place you sit
to fulfill the tradition of February 29.

"It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves" - William Shakespeare
"Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous." - Albert Einstein
"A person often meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it." Jean de La Fontaine
"In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: it goes on. " Robert Frost

Like in the movie, isn't it sad that people find a partner just to defeat loneliness or have to settle down by an age when they haven found the Right One? Maybe one day I'll find someone who'll propose to me on Feb 29th... how wonderful life will be, haha.  Please go watch, it's HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Very touched & sincerely want to thank the CO people, CHS 2-7 and the smses for a very memorable and exciting 21st! I feel very fortunate and blessed to have so many people celebrate for me. Took me about a month of brainstorm and then proper discussion with Chu Jun... followed by a lot of coordinating and calling and designing the Entrance Pass. I cut the pass until 4am last night! o.0' But it's all worth it lahz. We played a game that requires you to make animal sound and remember everyone's animal... pretty good ice breaker. Chu Jun kept losing because she's the owl that goes ' Gu guuuu' everytime, so funny! Then we played something like 默契大考验, always kena Weilin. It really kept everyone entertained and learn more about each other... For me, haha, if I wake up to find my house burning, what would i take and run out. It wasn't cash... many chose self-portrait... cos I ai mei~ Hahaha... Another question... Imagine if Chu Jun finds a hair in the food, what would she do? Most chose that she will continue eating... but Raymond and I insist that she would just say she's full and stop eating. Haha... As for Raymond, What kind of communication device would he be and everyone chose telephone because he talks on the phone too much, haha! With all the food and drinks, it's only about $9 per person. Angeline Sophia went to hunt for cake... xin ku le!

And really, I never expect Angeline Lixin Joyce Weilin Jac Sophia James Xiao Pang & Peggy to buy such an expensive present... and I really wanted it for pretty long. Thank you girls sooo much! Chu Jun and Raymond bought me a tie... Daniel and Joel bought a shirt, haha can wear both le~ Yes... Chinese New Year been hunting for clothes but failed, haha... long sleeve shirt also what I need. Daniel de instinct really not bad. Mok Mok bought a mug with my surname and its origin... it's now already on my desk with liang cha in it le. I don't receive many presents throughout this past 21 years... a bunny named Rogerfrom richie rich, the Leo pencil case which I use since sec 2, Zi Cheng's hand made immunity necklace, tekko brandon daniel and 4-4 peeps who burnt a Kelly Clarkson disc for me. CO peeps celebrated with a cake in CO room during year 1. Firewire bought me the egoatstake tshirt and Maxine's book on Pick-up Artiste. Heck, I even remember in primary school my dad bought me triple wheels toy car, and in Primary 5 I was sensible enough to simply ask for an alarm clock. HA!

Actually, few days ago in camp during lecture, I made a very very long birthday wish list... so that today when I close my eyes and pray, I just wished that everything on the list will come true, haha! So xin ji zhong rite~ heheez! Here's a glimpse at the list (in no order of preference):
1) Everyone will be healthy, happy, successful at work, excel in studies!
2) Time pass faster!!! So that I can ORD asap~!
3) Everyone will stay together, friends and family... have time for each other
4) I will pass my driving test on first attempt!
5) My brother can excel in his studies and get into an institution of his dream
6) NYPCO will prosper, have more members, better skills, find a good president & committee, go Hong Kong, alumni will all come back and help!
7) Save up for my university fees!
8) My Chinese and English can improve or maintain, try to learn Jap!
9) Can continue watching Survivor, my tv shows, read newspapers and listen to 933
10) Watch Angela & Mayday concert~!

I know I'm very greedy, haha... but I've never really made any wish for the past 21 years ... except like do well for exams etc etc. generic ones. whoaha, then 2-7 ppl gathered at AMK S11... everyone except Junkiat was late~ HA! Dennis will be flying to Japan soon... we catch up and talked a lot of crap, racist jokes LOL! ate stingray, sotong, yong tau foo, kway chap, carrot cake, fried oyster, indian rojak etc. Woo! This is one of the biggest 2-7 gathering since everyone went NS... and it's so impromptu. Then SK they all went to hunt for cake at almost 10pm... came back with a ice cream tub, haha! So kool~ Received the first sms from Tekko... the someone whom will always remember my bday without reminding or anything.

Even during Valentine's Day... most of the NS guys went out to watch movie as a group... or those who have gf will stress over the celebration~ Joyce Lixin Sophia and I went to eat cafe cartel... I'm not spending vday with just other guys and I don't have to be so stressed over celebrating it... haha I'm the most fortuante de liaoz~ i ate the St Louis Pork Ribs and it was good! Although towards the end, very full and 'ni' of it abit. Then we sat down further for cheesecake and we chat and ate soooo much!!! Woo~!

Tomorrow I will be going to sing ktv with my family o.0~ first time ever ahaha! Should be fun... hehee. Once again, im really glad that you guys and girls took time and money to help celebrate, very touched! 真心朋友... How many can you find in a lifetime? I found really many in these 21 years. Will upload photos tmr~

12th Feb
I totally had trouble driving yesterday, forgot how to do parallel parking le. Next month will be my driving test le, I am so not confident at all. Here are more photos taken during this long break. Maxine with her 'massager' and me receiving my birthday gift. We all went to MOF and the kind waiter took a picture for us. The 4th pic was after waiting a few hours for teckie to finish her work and we ate cheesecake at Cartel. I look totally 'playful' la! HA!

Yesterday Xiao Pang came to my house to play Mahjong with me sophia and my dad! LOL. We started with playing blackjack first and then played mahjong at midnight~ o.0 We played until 3am la and it was only one feng... because sophia had more drama than playing. LOL. I ended up as the biggest winner yay! hah.

Planning to go board games cafe this coming Saturday and then meet up with Daniel Poh they all in the night. There needs to be so much effort and SMSes to organize, call and arrange with people... it's so hard sometimes and the reply is "I'll confirm with you again" which probably means they will never call back. Hopefully all the effort is worth it. Maybe it's because of the exam period and people having to visit, the past few days going out had been quite difficult to get people... Hopefully when CO starts, people would be free on Saturdays to go out.

10th Feb
HUAT AH! Spent my first day of CNY trying to fix another computer in my parents' room... the wireless is SO unstable! The connection very slow also, keep having trouble watching Yi Nan Wang or the new Ah Cheng show. 野蛮奶奶大战戈师奶 also come out lo! 通天干探 I also haven watch, 溏心风暴 I never get to finish! haix~ Don't even start on Coffee Prince and the other Korean dramas. The only show that I'm faithful to is Survivor and Amazing Race. Yes I have been watching this two shows and Survivor Micronesia just premiered yesterday! Fans Vs. Favorites, meaning new players against old players. Quite cool, it's always been one of my dream to join... haha. I've built a bamboo shelter with banana leaf before, during survival training. Amazing Race Asia also can, haha.

Yi Jun asked me to play Mahjong last night, out of the blue... 3 que 1. It's been a long time since I touch mahjong... I think the last time was before Christmas period bahx. Ya... At first I was losing to Joseph Chua and Yi Jun then on the Bei Feng, I won two rounds with 4-tai really lucky ones, haha. Ended up I became the biggest winner... but won only $8 cos we played 20 cents/tai. They all quite pro lo, play defensive and lock my tiles. Still glad that I won, haha.

Time for food review~ Look at the orange-rich 地瓜! There's a new franchise from taiwan known as the Sweet Potato Place... a new discovery! They have sweet potato fries, spring rolls, milkshake!!! yes sweet potato milkshake... very healthy with no sugar. Angeline says it taste funny but I think is quite ok but VERY filling. The fries and spring rolls are superb~ The spring rolls very good for dessert, fries are very nice. So far they only have 2 outlets, one at Suntec beside Carrefour where they have Shilin and Donut Factory. One at Lau Pa Sat... I predict that they will blossom all around Singapore and become the next shilin. 雨后春笋。
Chen Yu lesson! 雨后春笋 describes how the bamboo all appear after the spring rain. Means that something spreads very fast (manifest!) and usually means good things, work pieces etc. One very good example would be Bubble Tea and Donut shops.

Next, I went to Fin Seafood Cafe which serves beer, NZ live mussels and oysters. I ate the seafood baked rice and Angeline ate prawn linguine with creamy sauce. Mine is $9.95 for the baked rice while the Linguine is is $11.95. The ambience is really good, I think would be better in the night for ang-mohs to drink beer and eat seafood. The baked rice is the best one I've eaten so far, beating Swensen's and Pastamania hands down! Don't even remind me of the horror that Xin Wang HK Cafe gave me with their baked rice. The mussels, prawns and oysters are pretty fresh, still got the salty seawater taste. Woo!!!

华艺节
begins today and we went to watch the Drum Fiesta and it was sooo low class when they played the music CD as background, totally cover the drum and it was as though they were lip-sync-ing. Then we watched a dizi performance, the guy is pretty much a pro but the piano accompaniment was terrible! She played every note with angst and it was so heavily that it spoilt the kang ding qing ge and cai yun zui yue... omg, Angeline and I were speculating why is she so emotionally angry... is it because she isn't paid well, or she quarrel with bf (the dizi player?), maybe she hasn't eaten dinner yet... or because she's a western music person now have to play cai yun zui yue. LOL!

We went to River Angbao as well... saw the mini er-hu that they sell for $68. Interesting things like bumper boats, so cute! From very far I can smell the chou tou fu. Walking across the padang, I realize that Singapore night view is getting nicer and nicer, especially with the ferris wheel now. I remembered flying back from Thailand, I could see the ferris wheel from the airplane! Nice.

Went Kbox today with Peggy and James... haha the old gang, and we really enjoyed ourselves, singing k lunch for only $16 for 4 hours in town, heeheeZ! Then went to hunt for Daniel's birthday present, woo~ I really feel like having the present for myself, it took quite a lot of pain to research and get the present. It's a good gift, ha!

6th Feb
HUAT AH! Finally get a break from the hectic NS schedule. I'm so elated to celebrate this Chinese New Year but so far, I haven't had any chance to go Kbox yet! I've been craving for kbox since... Thailand. Who wanna go kbox please jio!

Visited the Laselle Open House with KK and Chris. The advertising designs were really good I must say. The film productions were just 'huh?!'... too artsy for me, cannot understand at all.

Went to army market with angeline where we had the Belgian chocolate waffle. Really nice but quite ex la, $6 for two waffle, a choco dip and a scoop of gelato. Then we went Kallang Leisure Park where we sat at the coffee bean for almost 3 hours, just chilling out. The coffee bean atmosphere was really good and pretty quiet as the place is new. The Starbucks next to it is not open yet. I wonder why they put a Starbucks next to a Coffee Bean... that place doesn't really have heavy human traffic.

Bugis on the other hand, is over-crowded! I overheard a guy saying "They should install human ERP at Bugis" and I totally agree. Ended up only buying a tie because there was no mood to buy any clothes anymore, too hot and too squeezy. Yi Ting also did not manage to get much. Firewire had a birthday gathering where we bought presents for each other. I gave Kelly a very nicely packaged in-house evergreen CD of many retro songs that I believed she'll love. Songs like raindrops keep fallin' on my head. The gift is so nice that I couldn't resist it even though it's twice the budget~! Overspent but it was worth it. Happy 21st Firewire!

Maxine got me this book called THE GAME - HOW TO BE A PICK-UP ARTISTE... haha very interesting book if you know what I mean. Luv the present~ KK gave Maxine a vibrator~ whoahaha. Eve gave CT a spoilt locker piggy-bank~ lolx. Yi Ting gave KK a puma shirt. Now is left with Syaz and Kelly who did not turn up >.< We went to Ministry of Food and the cold ramen is really good~!

张韶涵 - 亲爱的,那不是爱情

张韶涵  is having concert in Sg on 29th March~! this is composed by Jay chou and written by Fang Wen Shan! Enjoy.

1st Feb
The day before I left for this Thailand trip, I went back to NYPCO for the combine practice... a very normal practice for the annual concert, he was just sitting beside me as what had been for the past 2 years... we played the suona together for Ultraman Tiga, Long Teng, Feng Shou, Do Ray Mi. The practice ended as usual and everyone made noise at the MRT station and waved goodbyes at Yishun.

All the tough training ended and I was on the coach to the floating market... the first stop of our Relax & Recreation phrase. That's when I received the call from Angeline that a good friend just passed away. Annual concert was just over and there could be many other performances or overseas trips that we can do together. The news hit hard and I felt worst when I knew that he would be cremated on the day itself. Knowing that the rest of the orchestra would be there to send him off but I'm stuck in Thailand, felt so helpless and guilty. I tried to enjoy myself for the 2 days of R&R but held back, ended up not buying anything much except a cotton blanket that my Dad wants me to buy. I just wanted to come back Singapore and know that the rest of my friends are all staying strong despite this sad news... and be with my family.

The entire month in Thailand had its high and lows. Had helicopter rides, tom yum goong, talked with my Thai friends... tough trainings in the blistering hot weather. Seen the poorer side of Thailand and learnt much more thai words... talked to the people, the Char mee lady. Now is just prepare for Chinese New Year and my birthday... life goes on~ The suona section will never be the same again without David. Shall go back CO room next week if got time~
