So apparently this font and color is still the best. Thanks for all the feedback... Apparently many people cannot accept the fact that I'm out this week on leave! Clear leave clear leave! Actually suppose to have only 3 days left, but since they give, I won't complain and I am more than willing to accept it anytime. Hence this week I was only in camp on Tuesday and Wednesday... if only NS is like this every week. I'm day dreaming...

We had to run at East Coast Park in the huge rain today! 6km in 40 minutes lo, crazy... but I really enjoy running at ECP. Once, I was running there in VJC pe-tshirt... now I'm running in infantry pt-kit! Last time when we had PE in my VJ first 3 months, we always run ECP for the 4.8km x-country practice. There'll be swee kuan, danielpoh, timou all running in the crowd. Then I saw VJC... been so long since I've seen VJC~ more than 2 years. Nostalgic about the fun 3 months that I spent there. Today I was running with Sgt Glenn and we made it in like 39 minutes and 50 seconds. Amazing!!! I'm so amazed by myself also, haha.

Wow! First time I have so many tags this week with regards to the same issue... my fonts! Go-men, go-men. I'm using a new program called Microsoft Expressions Web and trying out new features and I guess what displayed on my screen and your screens are different. Shall just stick back to the usual for now until I have time. First time I realize that my blog is so popular with such high-readership, heehee! Thanks!

This weekend I spent very little time on the computer. Friday I only knew that I can book out on the day itself, 6pm. How preposterous is that?! My philosophy is to NOT talk about NS outside the camp so I shall not elaborate. We ended up booking out at 7.30pm and I tried to rush over for practice. But Mike ended early and practice had ended before I reached. So I went to meet Xiao Pang and Sophia for dinner at Jurong East. I was so suay that I spilled the entire tray of Buddy Meal set and everything just smashed onto the floor. I put the tray on the chili station and the area was smaller than the tray, so I accidentally knock it over. BAD design la!

Taiwan Blues I've solved most of the problems when I went for sectional practice on Monday so it should not be that bad. I'm very very stressed about Rasa Sayang. Saturday morning, when we went through the song, I was not familiar with the fingering, don't even talk about double-tongue. Moreover, the Namdo solo was totally 100% out of tune because I never practiced at all and Harry never comes on Saturday. It was really a pain to hear myself playing it knowing that I had de-proved that much.

This weekend I am so busy and really meaningful. After practice we went to eat Subway and met some of the RJCO people. Saw so many of them carrying instruments, like so many CO people flooding the restaurant, haha. Met the suona guy who came to help during the concert, forgot his name though. I really like eating Subway because it is something healthy and tasty. Huge subway supporter! After that we went to watch Enchanted which was so humorous that I was laughing throughout the whole show and accidentally stepped onto Lixin's foot when I laughed too hard and jumped on the seat. It was the first time I hear the crowd clapped for a really funny scene where the chipmunk acted as the princess eating the poison apple. Enchanted is the best movie I've watched this year... much much better than Shrek 3 I must say. Amy Adams really did a great deed and personifies the stereotypical Disney princess really well. The soundtracks were good also, especially the "That's how you know" where the African guy pops out of nowhere to sing it as well...freaking funny. Ever Ever After is sang by Carrie Underwood and it is good I must say. Please go watch it, HIGHLY recommended.

Ever Ever After - Carrie Underwood

After watching the movie we went to eat dinner at Siam Kitchen. It was disappointing I must say. The tom yum was not spicy, the hor fun tasted blend and the green curry was too watery. The only decent one was the beef noodle which Sophia ordered. Price-wise it was pretty expensive but I must say I was very impressed with the waitress who served us. Lerk-Thai is so much better and cheaper in terms of quality and price. Do try their tom yum soup!

Oh we went to play arcade and had some fun moments at the air-hockey game. There was a guy, maybe 17 or so, who challenged anyone whom he deemed fit to play with him. I played with him and I lost quite badly because he was really aggressive and rather...cunning. The issue was not about me losing but he was just standing there in the arcade, waiting to challenge people on air-hockey! Quite a sad guy... and there I was as if I was 'Wei xiao bao' as someone said, with a whole bunch of girls. Haha, the philosophy - Monday to Friday I'm stuck in camp with guys. Weekends I'm out with the girls... hence maintaining balance and the ying-yang in my life. After dinner we went to play mahjong overnight. My dad taught sophia how to play and she became a 'lan du gui' overnight by dragging Angeline and Joyce to play with her until 6am in the morning! It's been so long since I've played Mahjong soooo late into the night. And guess what, the next day after we had our lunch at Long John and coffee-dose at Starbucks, we resumed Mahjong.

Long John has this new 3-piece fiery chicken set for $4.50 which tasted decent with an okay-price. Nothing out of my expectations from Long John so you can go try it if you like Long John all these while. To me it is fine to eat it once in a while. As for Starbucks, the woodlands one is really so small that we had to wait as if we're in a food court for a table! Cafe Galilee in the library was totally filled as well... but we finally got seats in Starbucks. Joyce explained why the steamed milk in Starbucks is better than that of Coffee Bean - because the foam is thick enough for the straw to stand on its own. The coffee bean one, it would just drop to the side of the cup, haha! I ordered my usual caramel frappe. I've been drinking in cafes since secondary two, with Swee Kuan, Andrew and gang at Coffee Bean J8. Those were the times we opted a cup of ice-blended coffee over McDonalds for lunch. Now I enjoy the atmosphere and chill-outz feel in Starbucks better... it's really cool to sit down and chit-chat with friends in Starbucks. Best if there are more sofas for the customers to sit. Chill, chat and enjoy life - that's Starbucks for me.

Guess who's back! Meng Shan finished her exam and she's back in Singapore for a month holiday. We all went to AMK to eat Stingray (her favorite for BBQs) and Sotongs, Kang Kong, Fried Oysters (although it cannot compare to the fresh oysters and white wine in Aussie). We ate sooo much and catch up with each other, sharing with us the stories of her university and the neighbors in the hostel. Haha, it is VERY interesting. Eventually I still dunno how the girls talk about bra-size... ya~ Damien sent the email about bra size...

Tomorrow I'm going to learn driving after a long hiatus. No time to upload the pictures of the food that I took yet... next week perhaps. I don't even have time to watch Survivor, Amazing Race and Gong Zhu Xiao Mei~! Please forgive me... but I gave you guys a very long blog post right?! heehee, hope the font is legible. Here's 2 new Chinese songs for this week...Enjoy!

This weekend is just so... scattered. Booked out only on Saturday morning and rushed home to drop my clothes in the washing machine. I didn't even had more than 20 minutes on my bed before I walked out the door and went for CO practice. Then at CO, my 'shao zi' keeps giving me problem and everything was pretty much out of tune, arghz! Worse, I had to stand in for Harry who just doesn't come on Saturdays. The solo now is ghastly and terrible sounding... ouch! Fortunately overall our Capriccio of Sea improved by a notch and the others were pretty much okay, except for Taiwan Blues. After that I went to book my driving lesson, finally able to do so after 5 months hiatus. Jiayi, HQ, Jamie, Ying Cong, Weiling and I went to AMK Hub food court where some of us ate Shabu-Shabu (Japanese Hot Pot steamboat). It cost $6.80 and consists of many mushrooms, fungus, vegetables and pork (beef hot pot is $7.80). Pretty decent for a cold rainy weather.

ENCHANTED

Maxine acting as the princess again, Syazwan is the seishii (guard). Me as the sidekick, LOL! The movie teaser seems very funny, it's about the fairytale princess coming into the real world. There was one part where she starts singing and the guy told her "Stop, don't do that!" Coming out in the theatres on Nov 22nd, I'm gonna catch it the next weekend!

Anyway, I also read the book entitled "A boy called 'it'" which depicts the life of a child being abused by his mother. He was made to do house chores, eat faeces, drink chlorox and ammonia, beaten up etc etc. Thing is, the author never really stated why the mother was so negative and angry towards him. The story was pretty short, only 87 pages but the author wrote another 2 books, hence it became a trilogy. I was on the 2nd book but it eventually got more boring because the social services saved him and put him up in a foster home where he turned rebellious.

Now for the weekly restaurant recommendation! Yes I know last weekend I spent $100 on food and another $100 on the wireless modem. Still, Joyce and I were exhilarated when we saw the Marina Square branch. We ordered various pastries, main course and the infamous 'yuan yang' - a blend of coffee and tea. Interestingly enough, it is served in a metal mess cup to keep the drink cold I guess. I could taste the milk tea more with a subtle hint of the coffee. Although it was mainly our first time drinking it, we thought it was rather blend, the taste could have been more concentrated and nicer if they use better coffee and tea quality.

Lixin ordered a fish congee, Joyce ordered the bo luo bao (shown in the picture) and egg tarts. Angeline ordered a pork chop bao while I ordered a pork chop baked rice.

The bo luo bao is pretty crispy and a nicely toasted. The best of the lot that we ordered. As for the egg tart and congee, it was pretty normal like what you eat outside. The pork chop bao which doesn't look like bao, more like sandwich. As you can see, it doesn't look appetizing and it really wasn't, it was just meat cheese and bread. The taste did not blend together at all, Angeline rather ate it in pieces. For me it was the same case. The rice is just ... rice. A later of cheese, then the pork then the baked rice. Not even garnished or mixed with beans or corn or pineapple or what. The baked rice cost $9.90 and the yuan yang was $3. Hence my bill with 17% GST & service charge was a whooping $15! Not very worth the money and the food were major disappointment. The rest shared the same sentiment. The waiter took a good photo of us though, with some sound skill...haha.

The actual cheese meltz is really different from what it looks like. The fillings were pathetically little, just some chicken bits and very little cheese and pineapple. Basically you just have your pop corn chicken and the other ingredients folded into your poh-piah and that is your cheese meltz. The cheese was not really hot or cheesy in any case. I won't try it again.

Went to Esplanade to watch Beautiful Sunday by Bukit Batok CC band, conducted by a Major (as in SAF rank Major). The theme was movie blockbusters and I'm so glad they never played Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings theme because they massacred every piece they played. Starting with the Star Wars trilogy, then some oldies, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Grease and Pirates. The conductor was practically non-existant because there was no interaction, his timing was either too fast or too slow, he doesn't give any dynamics or expressions with the left hand, he cannot conduct 3/4 timing and he has no elasticity... making it very rigid and hard for soloists to express themselves. Maybe he is more used to conducting the military band? The songs had very small spectrum of dynamics, poor balance of brass and woodwinds, no proper sentencing in the melodies... everything just fell flat right from the beginning. Not to mention a 'spoilt' tambourine which gives out metal sound, high notes by french horns and trumpets had poor end to it, poor tonguing. Most of the time I was just shaking my head, are my expectations too high? They seemed to go through the pieces without much practice and just play the notes. Only a few players were good but on the whole, the orchestra is just average.

I then went to buy a wireless modem cum router, now it's giving me some problem in MSN because I always get kicked out from group conversations. Arghx! Okay, I went to Cosafe Maid Cafe at CHIJMES just now. It was really pricey since it's located at CHIJMES and besides the waitresses dressing up as maids, there wasn't really anything unique to it. In fact, there was a huge screen showing soccer outside... not anime. The food were mainly western and the alcohol drinks ... haha, CT really hated them because they defied every expection of hers. She said that it was her first time seeing Sex on the beach being yellow. The green tea martini is white, not green! LOL! But the ambience at CHIJMES and in the cafe was good I must say... to just relax and chill. We were treated to a Chocolate Fondue in the end by Lixin's friend who works there. Joyce was so high drinking the alcohol, haha. I'm still waiting for photos to come in.

王力宏 & Selina 你是我心内的一首歌

AIT phrase finally ended and I'm out of the Bravo company. Received my green beret at Kranji War Memorial site and realised that it is a very scenic place. Marching up the hill with the other battalion soldiers at the side cheering and clapping felt like... The Amazing Race o.0! Instead of Phil we had our CO at the end point instead. hahaX!

Went to watch the Bee Movie on Thursday and it was pretty lame. If you think Ratatouille controlling the Linguinie's movement using the hair was illogical, Bee Movie is much much worst...falling in love with a human and sueing the entire human race. The plot was chopping and things just happened without any reason. He could just decide to stop working and fly out of the hive, break the rule of "Don't speak to Humans" without any punishment. Suddenly he sees honey, goes into a rampant and anger that honey is stolen, decides to sue the humans. Pretty much everything was brainless and huh!?! feeling. Overall it was just so-so, not very comical either. Waiting for Enchanted to come out next.

Plaza Singapura has this Taiwan 冰馆 named Ice Monster that sells Mango sorbet & milk ice. VERY delicious and only $6.50 for a big bowl which can be shared with 2 or 3 persons. Thursday I went to try it, today I eat it again! It's that good...especially when the weather is sometimes so hot. They offer gyoza (guo tie) and hong shao niu rou la mian. The ramen is $9, a little pricey but delicious nonetheless.

Ichiban Sushi

This restaurant is infamous for the long queues and full reservation lists during weekends. There are 8 outlets available islandwide now and I had been craving for months to try the Sukiyaki set. Unfortunately, they said the set is not available today!!! arghz! My friend actually tried to reserve seats for dinner yesterday but the list was full. Then later he tried again and managed to get a reservation. Then guess what, at 7pm, the group had to wait 45 minutes queueing outside to get seats. What's the point of reserving if you have to queue again? Worse, the food was ordered when the group was queueing outside, about 30minutes before entering the restaurant. Yet we had to wait another 30 minutes before the food came. That's a total of 1 hour 15 minutes! The service is really terrible I must say, but that applies only to the Plaza Singapura one which I went today, shall not generalize and assume that all the outlets are equally bad.

Nevertheless, the sushi is really great tasting. The value meal is really worth the money, my dinner only cost $13, there's chawamushi, miso soup, raw salmon (freshness is ok la, better than sakae), tempura (egg plant, prawn, ladies finger), teriyaki chicken and rice. The ebi tempura was NOT fresh. Still, one of the most reasonable priced and value-for-money Jap restaurant.

Apparently Sodagreen's new album won't be released in Singapore due to a dispute with the local distributors/labels the last time round. Too bad.
