I started writing this story the end of last summer and throughout school. It wasn't going very well. I hadn't written Log8 yet and I really wanted to go in order, but this one was developing so much more quickly. I wrote about 73 pages before New Year's, then once we hit 2003 I got a surge of energy and wrote the next 209 pages in less than 20 days. Log9 is the longest story I've ever written to date (not counting the three separate stories of a trilogy as one long story). I could not believe how fast this thing came out; I went back to school and wrote 20-30 pages a day after school, unfortunately neglecting my homework and any tests I might come across. Oops.
This story is a lot like the Zac and Ginger Trilogy, which is a lot like the earlier Logs (Log and Log4). I was trying to go back to my roots, using the same plotlines and instances. It centers around Ginger. This time she's seventeen when she meets Zac, who is sixteen. They meet at a party and end up spending the night together. He makes up a name for her (which explains where "Ginger" comes from) and doesn't even find out her real name until halfway through the story. This story is about their relationship, which in some ways is like most relationships, and in others, is completely different. If you've read the Zac and Ginger Trilogy, then you'll really understand this story and see a lot of similarities between the two.
