Chapter Forty-Eight

Ginger got home a week later feeling great, but still had to take it easy because of the delicate nature of her head. She was in remission. Jenny spent most of her time with her mother now that Ginger was home from the hospital. Kris, on the other hand, was hard to find because she was trying to get organized so she could move her things from this house to the one four doors down with Taylor. Taylor was actually allowed over now and for the first time Zac didn't mind if he picked up Jenny.

Ginger was alone with Zac in the living room, lying together on the couch. It was Kris's first day over at Taylor's house and Jenny missed her being around so Ginger insisted that Jenny have dinner with her Auntie Kristina. It also allowed her and Zac to have some alone time that they hadn't had in a very long time.

"Zac?" Ginger asked, her head lying on his chest.

"Hmm?"

"I want another baby." She could feel him tense a moment before he thought about it.

"All right."

"Are you okay with that?" she asked, looking up at him.

"Yeah, that's fine," he said. "I want another kid too, but it's just you just went into remission" She gave him a look.

"Zac," she said, "I'll be fine."

"Okay. If you think so, we can have another kid." She smiled.

"Can we start trying right now?" she asked, pulling herself on top of him. She kissed him.

"You just want to do it, that's the only reason you're even bringing it up," Zac said, smiling. She shrugged.

"Maybe. But think about it. When was the last time we've had sex?" He stopped and thought about it. "We never did it while I was on treatmentactually I think we haven't done it the entire time we've been married."

"That is crazy," Zac said. "We've been married three months and we haven't even had sex as a married couple."

"I think the last time we did it was that time at my apartment," she said.

"It hasn't been that long," he said, giving her a questioning look. "That means we've only done it once since we've gotten back together. We've done it more than once." She shook her head. "We haven't? Then what are we waiting for?" She smiled and kissed him again, but unfortunately, the door opened and Kris came in with Jenny.

"Hello?" she said.

"Am I never going to get laid?" Zac asked.

"I'll take care of it," Ginger said. She got off the couch and ran over to the front door. "Hi Kris."

"Hi."

"Umcan you keep Jenny for a little bit longer?" Kris eyed her sister suspiciously.

"Why?"

"Well" Ginger said, glancing down at Jenny. She put her hands over her daughter's ears. "Zac and I want to have another baby and while talking about it we realized we haven't had sex since we got back together. We would most definitely like to do that."

"Right now?" Kris asked.

"Right now."

"All right. Good luck," Kris said, smiling. "Come on, Jenny, I forgot dessert." Kris turned around and took Jenny back to Taylor's house. Ginger went back to the living room.

"Okay, she's gone."

"What'd you say?"

"I told her we were horny and we wanted to have sex," Ginger said, smiling. Zac looked appalled. "What? She's my sister!"

"I don't tell Taylor stuff like that!" "You don't tell Taylor anything, Zac. Don't worry, we're girls. We chat about this sort of thing. So anyway" She sat down on his lap and kissed him again. She pulled off his shirt and was working on his pants when he stopped.

"Wait, we need a condom."

"Zac, we're trying to have a baby."

"Oh, yeah, I forgot. Maybe you should go back on the pill. That seemed to work last time."

"You're ruining the mood, Zac," she said, and kissed him again.

A good ten minutes later Ginger was on her back with her legs up in the air. "What are you doing?" Zac asked, putting his shirt back over his head.

"I heard it's a good thing to do," she said. "Helps your guys find their way."

"You don't even know if you're ovulating or not. That was just for the sake of having sex," Zac said. Ginger shrugged.

"Hey, you never know. I could be ovulating." He rolled his eyes. "Tomorrow we can go down to Walgreen's and get an ovulation kit." He sat back down next to her. "When do you go back to work?"

"Tomorrow."

"Ugh. You were off all this time, weren't you?" He nodded. "That's it. I'm mad now."

"I was with you all that time at the hospital, wasn't I?"

"Yeah, but that wasn't here when we could actually take advantage of being alone, if you know what I mean." She elbowed him in the leg, since she was still lying on her back.

"No, Ging, I have no idea what you mean."

"I mean we could have fucked like crazy."

"You're so dirty, Ging." She smiled.

"That's me." She paused. "What am I going to do if I'm ovulating and you're at work? I won't be able to get there in time."

"Well," he said, stopping to think about it, "I guess the days when that happens you can just come with work to me. We'll keep you on the couch in the back room and we can clear everybody out and do it really quickly."

"Do you think that's a good idea? Are they going to understand? If you say you've got to stop everything and have sex with your wife, they're going to want to start bringing people to have sex with as well."

"I'll just explain that we're trying to have a baby. They'll understand."

"I can just imagine walking into the studio and going 'Hey Zac, I'm ovulating, we need to have sex right now.' " She giggled. "That'd actually be kind of fun. We should do that even when I'm not ovulating." There was a knock at the front door. "Come in!" Ginger yelled.

"I just wanted to make sure I wasn't interrupting anything," Kris said, walking in with Jenny again. "Are you through?"

"Yeah, pretty much," Ginger said. She looked at her daughter who was a bit messy. "Hey baby, how was dinner at Auntie's house?"

"It was yummy," Jenny said.

"What are you doing, Rose?" Kris asked.

"I'm using the effects of gravity to help myself get pregnant."

"Why do you give her the better explanation?" Zac asked. " 'Helps your guys find their way' is not exactly the best explanation in the world."

"Ahh!" Kris said, putting her hands over her eyes. "I don't want to think about your guys! Ew!" Zac rolled his eyes. "I'm going home!"

"Bye," Zac said.

"Oh my God!" she said, walking to the door. "Get out! Get out!"

"Oh come on, Kris," Zac said, a smile on his face. "They're just like Taylor's!" Kris screamed in disgust. "We come from the same gene pool!" Zac laughed as she left the house and began going home, about as disgusted as she'll ever get. "She won't sleep with Taylor for quite a while now."

"Thanks," Ginger said. "Now we'll never hear the end of it." He shrugged. "You had to go and gross her out."

"There's nothing wrong with my guys!"

"Zac, just shut up right now and things will be okay." He huffed and left the room.

Zac and Ginger picked up an ovulation kit from the drug store and found out, surprisingly enough, that Ginger was indeed ovulating. She shot a look at Zac who had made fun of her for laying on her back for twenty minutes the previous night. They dropped Jenny off at Kris's and Ginger went back to work with Zac.

"Everyone, this is my wife Ginger," Zac introduced to the band. Ginger waved and said a small hello. "She's just going to be hanging out in the back room not bothering us."

"Then why is she here?" one of the band members asked.

"It's slightly complicated," Zac said.

"No it's not," Ginger said immediately. "We're trying to have a baby."

"WellI guess it wasn't that complicated," Zac said, slightly embarrassed. "Anyway, she won't really be bothering us"

"Unless I'm ovulating," Ginger interjected.

"Just go in the back room," Zac said and pushed Ginger away. She made a face and went to the back room. It was a little room with a window, with blinds in case she didn't want anybody to see what was going on (which would be helpful when she needed to have sex), and a speaker so she could hear what was going on. There was a couch in the back and she took the liberty to sit down. She reached in her purse and pulled out the informative booklet that came with the ovulation kit and a cell phone. She called up Kris, knowing that she was going to get very bored very quickly.

"Hello?" Kris answered.

"Hey it's me," Ginger said. "I'm here."

"Good. Where are you?"

"I'm in a little room. I can see the recording area and I can hear what's going on, but that's about all there is to this place. I don't even see the point of this room," Ginger said.

"Did you get the kit?"

"Yeah. I'm reading the booklet right now."

"Oh. Okay. So when are you ovulating?"

"Actually," Ginger said, "right now. I'm not at my peak right now. It'll tell me when I am, though." She flipped through the booklet. "This says that there's about five days in which I can get pregnant, not including my peak day. I think I'm at day one right now."

"So what does that mean?" Kris asked.

"I should be having sex as much as possible."

"Hmmthat could be fun." Ginger smiled.

"I know. This room is pretty dark and you can shut the blinds to the window if you want to."

"Hey, it's perfect!"

"Yeah. Hey, they're starting." Ginger glanced up at the window and there was a guy in there singing. "He's pretty good."

"I want to hear!" Ginger stood up and walked over to the speaker so Kris could hear as well as she could. "Hey, he is pretty good! What's his name?"

"UmI think the lead singer is Tom. I don't really remember. Zac's produced for these guys before and one of these songs he wrote with them. I don't really pay attention much when Zac talks about work."

"You should! Zac has the coolest job in the world."

"Yeah, but when he talks he goes into all this technical mumbo jumbo and I'm just like 'Zac, only you could make music boring,' " Ginger said, a smile on her face. "But sometimes he brings home stuff to work on and I get to listen to it."

"That's cool," Kris said. "Wait, if you're not at your peak for another couple of days, why are you there?"

"Because we're supposed to have sex as much as possible," Ginger said. "When he goes on a break he'll come over here, we'll have a quickie, then he'll go back and work some more."

"Hey, can't say no to that."

"Nope." Ginger looked out the window at who, she believed, was Tom singing. She'd heard a lot from this band and what he was singing was one of the more mellow songs on the album. They were actually pretty good. Usually Zac and her tastes in music differed but this band she liked. Zac promised her a signed copy of the CD when it came out.

"Do you want a boy or a girl?" Kris asked.

"A boy," Ginger said. "I really don't care, but I'd like to have a boy. Get me a little variety."

"Do you have any idea what you're going to name him?"

"Christopher Joshua."

"Whoa, what was fast," Kris said.

"Well when I was pregnant with Jenny I didn't know the sex and had already thought of names for both a boy and a girl, and I came up with Jennifer Kristina and Christopher Joshua."

"Like those Kris's, don't you?" she asked.

"Shut up. They're not going to both be named after you," Ginger said. "Christopher is with a C-H."

"Aw, man," Kris said. "That would have made me feel really special."

"Well you're not that special, Kris," Ginger said. She went back to the couch and sat down, still looking out the window at Tom.

An hour and a half later Zac opened the door. "Hey," he said. He went immediately to the window and lowered the blinds. "Get off the phone."

"Kris, I'll call you back. I have to have sex."

"Ginger!" Zac said. She smiled.

"All right," Kris said. "Have fun!"

"I will!" Ginger hung up the phone. "What was I going to tell her?"

"Shut up, I don't have a lot of time." She rolled her eyes and he kissed her.
