UPDATE: July 12, 2001: Red December Songs Now Available via Internet

HBI has posted the rough mixes of their new songs from the "Red December" album on this website. These songs are available in Real Audio format. Please note that certain parts of these songs may be re-mixed or re-recorded before they are considered final.

HBI Continues Work on Their New Album, Red December

Eight years have past since HBI released their second album, Itch in 1993. In that time, the members of HBI have followed individual family, education, and career pursuits. Separated by hundreds of miles, HBI found it difficult to continue their musical collaboration, recording only two songs in seven years.

However, those two songs, "Lovesong" and "Glue", became the inspiration and motivator for HBI's third album, Red December. In May of 2001, HBI recorded seven more new songs to be included on Red December.

HBI is now finalizing the music writing and arrangements for the remaining three songs. Any new information about the upcoming album will be posted on this website, so please visit us again for news updates!

Here is a list of songs intended for the album, and a brief description of what we have for each:

  1. Grind--Recorded. This one should surprise a few people. HBI dabbles with Industrial. "Help me get out of this...grind!" Hear It!
  2. Lovesong--Recorded. A "Lovesong" reminiscent of the Goo Goo Dolls. Hear It!
  3. Hormones Bursting Inward--Concept stage. Instrumental. Best kept a secret (ie: don't know yet), but look for interesting blends of musical styles.
  4. Glue--Recorded. Alternative pop flair with a humorous undertone. "My life's in pieces, and you're the glue." Hear It!
  5. A Ship Comes--Recorded. Sequel in content and style to 'On Island' (from Graven Images). Hear It!
  6. Truth: Part III--Recorded. Conclusion of the Truth Trilogy. "The journey is the end in itself..." Hear It!
  7. Modern Day Messiah Blues--Recorded. Was supposed to be a blues song, but it ended up FUNKY! We like it! Hear It!
  8. Roofdeck--Recorded. A mellow yet upbeat song. Features violin solo and "musical texturing" by Mary Malefyt. "It's my dream...that you will be by my side." Hear It!
  9. I Don't Hate You Anymore--Recorded. Humorous dabble in punk. An intentional Green Day tribute. Hear It!
  10. Fright--Recorded. True-to-HBI dark alternative style. Hear It!
  11. Fly--Concept/Partially written. TBD.
  12. Red December--Concept/Partially written. No info yet.

This summary is based on information as we know it today, but may not accurately reflect what we get when the project is finished. Time will tell!
