Munchen, home of the FC Bayern Munchen...Well, we arrived in Munich quite after 8pm, and the tourist info center was closed. Fortunately I got some info about the youth hostels. I only had their street address though, not even their phone number. The first thing we did though was to take some cash, just in case. Then we asked around how o get to the youth hostel. Well, there were about 3 of them. And the one I had on my notebook seemed to be the farthest. Caro seemed to remember the city from her last Christmas she spent there, so we started walking following the U-Bahn line. The sun was getting down and the city was really nice, and our back started to hurt. We got lost a while, actually corrected our direction because we were not following the right metro line at first. Then as we asked if we were getting close to the place, someone actually said it took an hour to get there. They even offered to accompany us to the main train station to take the metro.
But we were determined to walk to the hostel. We passed by some strange industrial zone and even walked near the Lowenbrau brewery. It smelled odd also, kind of sweet, and sour.

Anyway, we checked our direction by checking the metro station. It took us hours to get to the hostel. Actually, 10 minutes before the hostels, we tried to get into a hotel and it was really expensive. So we dragged ourselves to the hostel. It was a big old building and quite organized apparently because it was open 24/7.
Fortunately because it was 10pm and all we asked for was a bed. We were given sheets and pillowcases, and even a breakfast with the price. Caro was complaining it was expensive for a dorm price and bunk beds, which was true, but we could not afford anything else and we were pretty tired. We got into our room; found our beds after some confusion. The beds had numbers on them but sometimes the numbers were duplicated on different beds.
We finally settled down and went for the shower. That felt good, as we basically were totally dirty from 2 days at least sleeping in trains. Then we talked about the following day, the dos and don’ts. And as we fell asleep, our roommates came in, young Spanish girls, chatting like chicken. I was too tired to be bothered but I guess Caro could not close her eyes and was cursing big time. The worst thing was the cell phone in the room, which rang once they were out. I mean what’s the use of it if you don’t actually take it with you?
