A short escapade to Barcelona

I visited this beautiful city of catalunia twice, once with Sophie and once with my guy of the time. Both times, it was one of those impromptu trips, with little preparation and no hotel bookings.

The first visit was the most thorough. With Sophie, we took the train from Paris, escaping from the hustling city under the siege of football fan. It was 1998 after all and the World Cup took the city by force. Not being a particular football fan, we took it as an excuse to flee the country.

to be continued...

Here is a short slideshow of me in Barcelona.( Get Quicktime)

What is Butifarra con mongetes:

IButifarra is a regional pork sausage very popular in Catalunia. For this dish, you can fry or roas the sausages with the white beans to make a tasty main dish. In Girona, not far from Barcelona, turkey birds are stuffed with butifarras, raisins and pine nuts for Christmas. Another popular dish with butifarra is the fideos a la cazuela, which is a stew with so many ingredients: spare ribs, sausages, ham and bacon as well as sofrito which, as usual, consists of onion, pepper and tomato.

Also of interest is the cavas, a sparkling wine of the region.
