DAYTONA BEACH
Context: After a semester being annoyed by Jake (aka Jacob, Jay, Hubschman, Great Dane), this tall, cap wearing Danish Boy, I was so ready for a vacation. We lived on the same floor in Main Campbell, about 10 doors away. Ramy on the other hand was a regular MC visitor. Which reminds me, there was a Greek guy in 310, I think by the name of Alex (Alexandros maybe?) who was pretty in search of someone to massage him and who was very oblivious in asking me so....he was fun but too sticky sometimes. I know Jay is laughing at this...stop cracking up, you egg eating Hub.. Anyway, one of these days, around finals period, Ramy and Jake come up with this plan to go to Florida for few days. And in the corridor, after thousands jokes, they ask me to join them...I was sure to fail a class (Object Oriented Programming Stuff, OOPS) but wanted to go so just agreed to go and arranged everything for the trip..well on my side, not the car or anything. Maybe I looked for the hotel, not sure though. The guys took care of that if I rememebr well. They also looked for the 4th person...yeah, they didnt want creepy Alex to join...I wonder why (wink, wink). The trip: So we ended up with a Russian guy who lived in Ramy's ex-room. I really can't remember his name, he was white as albater and had a beard...We drove all night I think to Daytona Beach and we got to the hotel (best Western or Holiday Inn) after looking for it real hard....I must have booked it using Priceline.com or something because we could not figure out where it was. We got in the parking lot at 11am, learned that the room was not ready so just went straight to the beach. The blue sea and sky, a deserted beach, just what I like. And nice waves that hit you real hard and splash your face with fresh salty water..ahhhh great sensation, being lost out there with 3 strangers..no offense guys, I didnt really know you at that time. The Stay: Time stopped and everything held still. Nothing mattered for the first day as we just played frisbee and splashed in the sea or just slept by the pool. A state of bliss that no word can describe. Later that day we foound out about the rooming arrangements. We had a suite of some sort, with a balcony on the ocean. A bedroom with 2 king sized beds, and a living room with a kitchen and a sofa bed. So for the curious out there, I had my own bed and Ramy and Jay shared a bed (some experience I guess, hehehe). As for the Russian ( who majors in Mathematics, typical scary nerd), he was assigned the sofa bed. Each room had a TV so we spent a large amount of time in front of that brain-sucking tube. I know we went to Olive Garden but cannot remember when exactly, so I'll say it was that first evening. The first morning, we slept until real late and i woke up at noon to find out the pool deserted, so Iwent there to soak up some sun. The boys woke up later on and joined me for a tanning session. Pretty soon it was mid-afternoon and we were starving. I guess that's when we decided to look for a mall (or ended up in Olive Garden?). I got a pair of high heel shoes, which are still my fav pair to dance. W got bananas and bread and maybe peanut butter...real food you know! Anyway, we also sang Shania Twain songs like..."Man, I feel like a woman". So the second day came, and we barely saw the morning. We decided to visit the city a bit and discovered the library with the free Internet access. I had to check up my grades and enroll for summer session in order to do OOPS again. |
But Ramy was doing it too so we enrolled in the same class. That was pretty cool. While waiting for a PC, I browsed the library and started reading on Harry Potter...and that's how THAT started! Now I'm a freak fan of the saga. Since I could not check out the book, we went downtown to look for a bookstore. I got the Hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy ("the answer is 47"), Harry Potter 1, while Jay got a special Dragonlance about Raistlin. I cannot remember what Ramy bought but I think he made the most sensible purchase...serious and all. So the next 2 days we were at the pool, reading and tanning and when we finished ou books, Jay and I exchanged books, and I got hooked up with Dragonlance. After that we just browsed and drove around town. The hotel was on the other side of the lagoon and there was a nice white curved bridge from the mainland toward the hotel. Tanning: This was a serious business. Because we stayed so long inthe sun we needed proper protection. I had my usual Vichy lotion, Jay had a coconut smelling brew (yummy) and Ramy had a spray, very fashionable that summer. Needless to sa I enjoyed spreading lotion over Jay...who wouldn't? ...Got distracted by the thought for a minute there...anyway...we were justa bunch of people spreading butter over each other. The Russian? I cannot remember him putting lotion so he was well red as a lobster from the first day. Jay finally asked me to spread lotion on his back after we discovered a large area of burnt skin between his shoulders. I am sure the boys regretted having no hundreds of scantily clad sexy thin women by the pool. I was real fine and did not miss anybody then. Besides, I was reading Harry Potter! Other activities: Apart from shopping we also went out one evening, Jay, Ramy and I. Ended up in a pretty empty pub where I got drunk after my first sip of....long island iced tea I think. Typical of course. The boys decided to play pool but I suspect it was just to make fun at my skills when I'm drunk. No biggie, I suck at pool anyway. We laughed so hard all night but got back to the room fairly early. The sun makes you tired I suppose. We also spent an evening playing mini-golf on a very nice golf course. It was very pretty with all the decorations, windmills, secret passages, etc...Loads of fun. For all skeptical all there, there is more to food, sex and sun. On our last day Jay woke up early to see the sun rise. And we made sure to avoid the Russian on the living room who I think slept naked...his choice really but I am a prude. I saw a bit of sunrise with Jay then got back to our beach routine for one last time. Ohhh and while at the pool one day, about 7 blue beetle cars drove on the beach honking, to celebrate the birth of a baby whale or orque..very cute. Riding back: Our ride back was fairly smooth. We had to stop by University of Georgia because the Russian wanted to see his girlfriend. The poor gu only had like 2 hours to spend with her. It was an awesome vacation and I'm looking forward the next one with those 2...cheers and hope this will bring back good memories.
