The rainshower on the beach...:(
So filled up with our sandwich, we sailed to the island of Fano and put everything in the car. I was happy there was a car, I was getting tired of carrying the bags. In the car Lenette told me Jay’s Mom made a huge cake for his birthday and there were plenty left. I was eager to see the cake. Well, I did not have to wait for long. As soon as we arrived from the ferry station, after the nice view of the surroundings, we got to the nice little house where they spent their summer days. It was very pretty, with hills and high grasses around, and no fences to the beach.
Jay’s mom welcomed us very warmly and got everything ready for tea. It was 4pm after all, even if we just got our official lunch. But we got ready for tea. So from 4pm till about 5:30pm, we ate home made scones and the famous chocolate and cherry birthday cake. I had never eaten that much, and I was ready to lie on a bed and snore away, but we were expecting dinner to be served as soon as 8pm or so. After thanking Jay’s Mom for her fantastic welcome, we decided to go see the ocean, not far away, actually about 5 minutes by foot. We played in the sand dunes and finally got a view of the beach. Like in Daytona Beach, cars could travel on the beach; it was a huge sand motorway. And the ocean was low and far away. We were playing nicely like 10 year olds when a cold shower hit us. We ran back home and go totally wet. As soon as we saw the house, the rain stopped…
When we got back home, we dried ourselves and got cozy in the living room. Lenette was cooking and forbid us to help her. After a while we played cards and we actually played until dinnertime. We played the team thing first, very easy, but Jay kept guessing our secret code. Lenette and I had a big laugh trying to figure out a sign that would be unseen from Jay. We lost that game because I kept laughing and Lenette kept smiling…arghhh
Then we played something like whist I think, but I ended up too tired or not focused enough, so I could not understand the game at all. Besides, the dinner was ready, and wine was served too. I was so drunk by the end of dinner; I could not play anything anymore. So we watched TV and ate some more ice cream later in the evening. We were so tired and by 10pm, we were drowsy and ready for bed. They said the clean air was knocking us out.
