SLAVE POSITIONS


There are basic slave positions that all kajirae must learn. The most basic slave position is nadu. This is the position all slaves assume in the presence of Free Men. It should be immediate and instinctive. Unless a slave is already under a command, she should instantly assume nadu whenever in the presence of a Free Man without being directed to the position. It should be as automatic as breathing.



The positions described below are the basic slave positions for a kajira to know, and she may be called upon to do any one of these at a moments notice. These are the most common positions used and depending upon the locations they are used in, camp or city for example, can be commanded differently...for example, a Free in one place may simply say to a slave. ."Assume position number 5 . Whereas, in another area, a Free may say...assume the position of branding......although they may mean the same thing ,each location may have subtle differences to the way they are performed, so it is always important to discover the ways used for these positions of the home you belong to at the earliest opportunity. These positions are listed in alphabetical order. After each description there is a quote from the books using that position.

BARA
A common binding position .The girl lays on her belly flat on the floor or ground and crosses her legs at the ankles, and also her arms at the wrists and lays them in the small of her back. Her face is turned to the left.
QUOTE:
"Bara," said Mincon to Tura ."Bara," said I to Feliqa, both slaves went immediately to their bellies, their heads left, their wrists crossed behind their backs, their ankles crossed. It is a common binding position. Mercenaries of Gor,pg 145

BELLY
This position is very similar to bara, but bara is more commonly called upon for binding purposes as belly may have extra commands added to it. For example, a home may have belly as having the hands to the side of the body or the face turned to the right, etc....but the basic is the same...the girl lays on her stomach on the floor or ground, with the stomach always remaining in contact with the surface upon which it is laying until further commands are given.
QUOTE
"On your belly," had said a men. I complied. It is unthinkable on this world that such a command not be obeyed instantly, or, at least, that one such as I not obey it instantly. And so I lay on my belly, on the colorful tiles, in one of the sales rooms in the pens. Too, of course, one does not simply sprawl on one's belly. There are ways, diverse ways, of assuming this position. We are taught them. Other women, women unlike us, one supposes, do not know them. They, too, of course, can be taught. In this house, such a command, unqualified, requires that the head be turned to the left and the arms be placed down, beside the body, the palms up. A slightly different command requires the crossing of the wrists behind the back and the crossing of the ankles, as well. This is sometimes used when one is to be bound. If one receives permission to look up, or is commanded to do so, which is frightening, the hands are normally placed to the sides, at the shoulders, and one then lifts one's upper body. The belly itself, of course, remains in contact with the surface on which one lies, the grass, the dirt, the gravel, the deck, the floor, the tiles, whatever the surface may be. But there are numerous variations in such things, as there are in ways to kneel, ways to hurry, ways to serve, ways to crawl to the furs, and such. There are even ways in which the whip, if called for, is to be brought. Witness of Gor, pg 42.

BLANKET
also known as Coverage
This position is commonly regarded as a discipline position, as a blanket, coat or some such covering is placed over the slave and she may not speak or move from the position she was in when the covering was put on her, until it is removed. For all intents and purposes, it is as if she is "bound", and is unable to move
QUOTE
I threw the second blanket, the top blanket, over her, covering her completely. When a blanket, or a cloak, or covering of any sort, is thrown over a slave like this she may not speak or rise. She must remain as she is, silent, until the master, or some free man, lifts the covering away. Explorers of Gor, pg 94.

BOUND BY THE MASTERS WILL
This position is used to show a Masters power over a slave, as she is "bound" by His will, and may not break position until commanded so. Often the position is stated by the Master as if the slave is actually bound,. For instance, He may say "your wrists are now bound", and the slave crosses her wrists as if they were and keeps them crossed, as if bindings were wrapped around them.
QUOTE
"Your hands are now bound behind your back," he said. "Yes, Master," I said. I must now keep my hands or wrists in contact with one another, and behind my back. I was now "bound by the master's will." I could not separate my hands or wrists from one another now without permission. There are many ways, of course, of "binding by the master's will." The behind-the-back position is one of the simplest and loveliest. This exposes the girl, frames the beauty of her breasts and makes her helpless. That the bond is a "will bond," too, makes clear to her the power of the master over her. Another common bond of this sort is when the girl must kneel, grasping her ankles. Another is when she is forced to sit and reach forward between her legs, passing the right arm from inside the right thigh to outside and beneath the right calf, to grasp the right ankle between her legs, passing the right arm from inside the right ankle from the outside, the left arm from inside the left thigh to outside and beneath the left calf, to grasp the left ankle in the same way. In this position she is helpless and cannot rise. Too, after a time, it becomes apparent to her that she also cannot close her legs. A girl may be kept in such bonds for hours. Too, of course, she may be tied in such a position. There are also, of course, different ways of decreeing such bonds. For example, with the behind-the-back-hands -tied bond in which I had been placed I could have been informed, but had not been, that my shoulders were pulled tightly back, which, of course, forces the breasts forward for the pleasure, or attentions, of the master. BRACELETS
Whether standing or kneeling, when this command is given, a girl immediately places her hands behind herself to the small of her back, awaiting the placement of slave bracelets upon her wrists. She tilts her head to the left and slightly upwards. A leash is often put on at the same time
QUOTE
The girl snapped to position, hands behind the small of her back, head lifted, chin up, turned to the left. In such a posture she may be conveniently put in bracelets and leashed. Tribesmen of Gor, pg 78

BRAND
When given this command, a girl exposes her thigh and hip to the waist to display the brand marked there for inspection ,whether it be the left or the right.

"Brand," he said idly. I knelt up, from my heels, and, still kneeling, turned to my right. I drew up the silk on my left side, with the fingers of both hands, to the waist, as one does, this exposing the tiny, graceful mark there, high on my left thigh, just under the hip. Witness of Gor, pg 56.

CAPTURE
In this position, a girl lies on her back and draws her knees up, with her heels remaining on the surface beneath her.
QUOTE
"On your back," he said, "knees raised, heels on the floor." I then lay before him, in a standard, supine capture position. Kajira of Gor, pg 442.

COFFLE
This is a command given to several girls, rather than just one. When ordered, the girls will stand or kneel behind one another in a line, awaiting further instructions.
QUOTE:
"Kneel to be coffled,' said one of the men. The girls knelt, closely, one behind the other, there were six wrist rings on the chain he carried. He placed the girl who had been whipped by Lady Sabina first in the coffle line. `Left wrist coffle,' he said. They lifted their left wrists, frightened. Interestingly, the man snapping the wrist rings on the girls' left wrists did not put the first girl in the first ring, but the second. When the four maids were coffled there was, thus, an empty wrist ring both at the head and rear of the line. `Stand, Slaves,' said the man. `Lower chain.' The girls stood. Then, ordered, they lowered their wrists. They were then in line, standing, coffled." Slave Girl of Gor, pg 127

COLLAR
This position may be commanded of a slave when a Free wants to observe their collar. A girl moves as close as she can and lifts her head, exposing her neck and showing her collar easily. She holds her hands behind her back.
QUOTE
"Then he looked at me, and snapped his fingers. "Collar," he said. Instantly I, trained, leaped to my feet and stood quite close to him, uncomfortably close, and held my hands a little behind my body. I lifted my chin. He crooked a finger under my collar and pulled me closer to him, holding me in place. I could feel his fingers against my neck on the left side, between the steel of the collar and the flesh. I could also feel the collar drawn tighter against the back of my neck. "It is a state collar," he said. "Your name is 'Janice'." "Yes, Master," I whispered. He released me, and I knelt. CRAWL
Is exactly what it implies...a girl is directed to crawl and does so on her hands and knees, remaining there until told otherwise. QUOTE
I pointed to the stones at my feet. Crawl I said, in Gorean. The girl slipped to her belly, and, as a slave girl, crawled to my feet. She put her lips to my foot; I felt her hair over it. Tribesmen of Gor, pg 78.

DISPLAY
This is another position that varies due to the location and area it is said in. Kassar girls, when told to display, stand very straight and link their fingers together, placing them behind their necks. Their feet are set a shoulder span apart, and with her head turned to the left, and lifted slightly, she turns slowly and sensually ,displaying her body for the perusal of the Free that commanded the position of her. It is a position designed for display her body to the best advantage.
QUOTE
"Have her stand, and turn," said a man. I heard the snapping of fingers. Quickly I rose to my feet, and turned, before them. "Interesting," said a man. "Clasp your hands behind the back of your head," said a fellow from the house. I complied. "Arch your back," said another. My left foot was now slightly advanced. I was bent backwards, my back arched. My hands were clasped behind the back of my head. Witness of Gor, pg 44.

DISROBE
(a display position): The particulars of this position would necessarily change according to the clothing a slave wears. A slave clad kajir would strip in a different manner than a slave clad in a tunic. Whatever clothing a slave wears, when ordered to strip a slave will disrobe as beautifully and sensuously as possible.

FEEDING A MASTER
When given this command, a girl offers food to the Master ,holding the piece of food lightly in her teeth and offering it to Him
QUOTE
One thing of that sort I recall is a trick where the girl feeds the master a grape held between her teeth. She may or may not have her wrists braceleted behind her back for this particular feat. One leg is folded beneath her and the other is extended behind her, toes pointed, and then she lifts the grape delicately to your mouth. Assassin of Gor

GOREAN BOW
also known as Bow
A girl from nadu, bends back until her head touches the ground or floor behind her. It is a difficult position to maintain any longer than a few moments. It is often used in dances as well as for displaying a girl�s body.
QUOTE

GOREAN LOVE BOW
This is a position where a girl is bound over an object, with binding fibers, her back to the object, with her hands secured to her ankles
Over her iron collar she wore a heavy leather Kur collar, high, heavily sewn, with its large ring. He thrust her two wrists before her body, into the ring he had cut from the Kur. He then tied them inside, and to, the ring. He then, from his belt, tool a long length of binding fiber and, doubling it, keeping it, securing it, as its center to the ring, leaving two long ends. He then threw her, on her back, over the body, bead down, of the fallen Kur. He took the two loose ends of the binding fiber and, taking them under the body of the fallen Kur, dragged her wrists, elbows bent, over and above her head; he then, bending her knees, tied one of the loose ends about her left ankle, and the other about her right. HAIR
also known as Leading
A girl bends at the waist and lets her hair fall down before her, by the Frees left hip, and places her hands behind her back. This is a common position to be led by, making the hair a "leash" which the Free can grasp easily and lead by it. It may often be indicated by a hand gesture of the Free, depending on the Home and the Free Person.
QUOTE
I held my left hand open, at my waist. She stiffened, and looked at me, angrily. I opened and closed my left hand once. I saw her training in Gorean customs had been thorough. But she never thought that such a gesture would be used to her. She came beside me, and a bit behind me, and, crouching, put her head down, deeply. I fastened my hand in her hair. She winced. Women are helpless in this position. Beasts of Gor, pg 409.

HEEL
When told to "heel" a girl will most often move to the left, and slightly behind her Master so she does not impede His use of His sword, should the need arise. Depending on where she is with her Master, sometimes she may be almost as close as touching Him as she follows. The left is also a sign of favor.
QUOTE
These things vary, I learned from city to city, and depend, also, on such matters as context and conditions. In a market, in the crowding and jostling for instance, a girl may follow so closely she pressed against the back of his left shoulder. Girls seldom follow behind and on the right. If she is thusly placed it is commonly a sign she is in disfavor. If more than one girl is involved, she who follows most closely on the left is generally taken to be in highest favor; girls compete for this position. In an open area, such a the fields in which we trekked, the girl is placed some five or ten feet behind, and on the left. If he must move suddenly she will not, thusly, constitute an impediment to his action. Slave Girl of Gor pg 30.

HIGH HARNESS
A girl, from the position she is in, when commanded, lifts her head very high, exposing her collar and making it easy for her Master to attach a leash to.
QUOTES

"You need not now keep your head in high-harness position,", he said to the girl. She moved her head. He stepped back a bit. She looked at him, frightened, his. Mercenaries of Gor, pg 309.

KNEE CRAWL
A girl moves on her knees, but remaining upright to accomplish any given task. It is also commonly used in dance
QUOTE
I indicated a flat leather box to one side. "Knee crawl," I said. "Fetch it here." She went to the box on her knees and picked it up, and returned to a place before me. It had been a simple knee crawl. I was briefly reminded, however, of the Turian knee walk, sometimes used by slave dancers. I considered the slave. I did not doubt but what she might be taught to dance. Magicians of Gor, pg 342.

KNEEL TO THE WHIP
When told this, a girl will kneel, and sweep her hair from her shoulders down her front, then place her forehead on the floor or ground before her, and cross her arms over her belly beneath her, exposing her back completely for the touch of the whip.
QUOTE
I went to Targo, trembling, and knelt at his feet... I crossed my wrists beneath me and touched my head to the floor, exposing the bow of my back. It is the submissive posture of a slave girl who is to be punished. It is called Kneeling to the Whip. Captive of Gor, pg 200.

LEADING

LEASHA
A girl, when commanded, her head from whatever position she is currently in, and turns her face to the left. She places her hands behind herself, the small of her back
QUOTE
"Leasha", snapped the second officer to the blond girl. She spun from facing him, and lifted her chin, turning her head to the left, placing her wrists behind her, as though for snapping them into slave bracelets. Explorers of Gor, pg 76.

MODALITY OF THE SHE-QUADRUPED
A girl may not use speech and is commanded to all fours where she performs her chores or is used for entertaining the Free with a number of tricks she has been taught. The only sounds she may be permitted to make are those not involving words, such as moaning, and whimpering. She eats and drinks, indeed, performs everything with all four limbs remaining firmly in contact with the surface beneath her until told otherwise
QUOTE:
In this form of slavery, which is commonly used for disciplinary purposes, or for the amusement of the Master, the woman is not permitted to arise from all fours; similarly she is not permitted human speech, though she may signify needs and desires by such means as cringing, and moaning and whimpering. Not permitted the use of her hands, save as a means of locomotion, she must also eat and drink from pans set on the floor, or, sometimes to satisfy her thirst, she must lap the water permitted to her from puddles or lick pillages from the tiles; too, it is no uncommon to chain her near her master's feet, while he dines, that he may, if he wishes, throw her scraps of food. She will also be taught tricks, through which paces she may be put for the entertainment of her master's guests, such things as begging, lying down, rolling over, and fetching his sandals in her teeth. *NADU
A girl kneels, and rests her behind slightly on her heels, with her back straight and her knees spread wide. Although her head is held high, her gaze, unless told otherwise, is lowered .The hands are placed to rest lightly on the thighs, either palms facing up or down, the placement of the palms up ,is usually an indication that the slave is aware of her state, and has an eagerness to please This is the most common position on Gor and is used, when kneeling before a Free Man.

"Come now, my pretty slaves", said Ginger, "Kneel straight. Back straight, heads up. Back on your heels there! Spread those pretty knees. Yes, that is the way men like it. Put your hands, palms down, on your thighs. Good. Good. Excellent!" The girls now knelt in the coffle as pleasure slaves. Savages of Gor, pg 155.

NON VERBAL COMMAND NADU
�He suddenly snapped his fingers and, in the swift double gesture of the Gorean Master, pointed to a place on the dirt floor before him, almost simultaneously turning his hand, spreading the first and index fingers, pointing downwards. I fled to him and knelt before Him, my knees in the dirt, in the position of the pleasure slave, my head down, trembling."--pg.143, Captive of Gor

NESTLE
When given this command a girl will go close to the Master and curl herself into the crook of His left arm .
QUOTE
"Nestle", I told her. "Yes, Master", she said. She nestled obediently in the crook of my left arm. Explorers of Gor, pg 279.

OBEISANCE
This position always seems to create some confusion but it is generally accepted that there are three main types to this position
1) As nadu but with the head lowered
2 )A girl kneels and places her head ,and palms as close to the floor as she can ,whilst still being able to move forward until her head hovers slightly over the boot or foot of a Free. She then puts her head down and licks and kisses said boot or foot.
3 )A girl goes to her belly ,stretching flat on the floor, and slowly inches forward to lick and kiss the boot or foot of a Free, and then gently places their boot or foot on her head, then back to its original position, where she kisses it once more and remains motionless unless otherwise instructed.

RAPE
also known as slave rape, usage
This position is used as a disciplinary position rather than for pleasure. The girl is told to lie on her back on whatever substance the Free person indicates.
QUOTE:
I went to the side of the room and picked up my sea bag. I threw it to the center of them room. She looked down at it, puzzled. It was of heavy blue material, canvas, and tied with white rope. `Lie down upon it,' I told her, `on your back, your head to the floor.' She did so. `No, please,' she said, `not like this.' It is a common position for disciplinary slave rape. In it the woman feels very vulnerable, very helpless." Explorers of Gor, pg 202

RUN
Upon this command, a girl runs with short steps, keeping her legs straight and barely leaving the surface she is running on. Her arms are kept at her side with her face turned to the left. It is used commonly as a dance motion.
QUOTE
I was amused, for she had run as a slave girl is sometimes taught to run, with rapid short steps, her legs almost straight, her feet scarcely leaving the ground, back straight, head turned to the left, arms at her sides, palms out at a forty-five degree angle, more of a dancer's motion than a true run. Assassin of Gor, pg 45.

SHE-SLEEN
(a slave rape position): Although the term "she-sleen" is not used in the books the "position" associated with the term is described. It is therefore included in this list of positions and commands. When ordered to she-sleen a slave will kneel. She will press her chest and head to the floor, clasping her hands behind her head. The slave will arch her back deeply, lifting her hips as high as possible into the air while spreading her knees as widely as possible.

QUOTE He knelt me there. "Put your head down, to the floor," he said. "Clasp your hands, firmly, behind the back of your neck." "Yes, Master," I moaned. He was then behind me. He put his hands, under my arms, on my breasts, sweetly and firmly. Then he moved his bands back, caressing my flanks. My head was down. My fingers were together, behind the back of my neck. SLAVE LIPS
A girl, when given this command, readies her mouth for kissing, and may not speak, or move her mouth until she has been kissed or commanded otherwise.
QUOTE:
A girl who is commanded to make slave lips, or who receives the command, �Slave lips,' must form her mouth for kissing. She then, commonly, is not permitted to break this lips position until she kisses or is kissed. Needless to say, a girl cannot speak when her lips are in the unbroken, fully pursed slave lips position. The command which commonly follows the `Slave lips' command is, `Please me.'" SLAVER�S CARESS
(a display technique): While the explanation for this technique is not given in great detail, it is rather easy to infer its various components. This technique is most commonly used by slavers and auctioneers to demonstrate to potential buyers a slave's vitality and responsiveness by using the coils of the whip pressed between a slave's thighs and up against her sex. It requires nothing from the slave but response; a response that is forced from her by the technique.

In his right hand, coiled, he held the whip, which he had removed from his belt a moment before. He had administered to her the slaver's caress with the heavy coils. She shook her head, wildly. She tried to draw back, but his left hand, behind the small of her back, held her in place. She threw back her head, shaking it wildly, negatively. Then there was a spasm. Then she sobbed, shuddering, tensing herself. The auctioneer then, holding her, brought the coils near her again. She put her head back, her eyes closed. But he did not touch her then. She opened her eyes, looking up at the ceiling of the warehouse in which she was being sold. She whimpered. Then I saw her legs tense and move, slight muscles in the thighs and calves. She half rose on her toes. Still he did not touch her. Then I saw her, with a sob, thrust herself towards the coils. But still he did not touch her. Then, as she looked at him, tears in her eyes, he, looking at her, deigned to lift the coils against her piteous, arched, pleasing body. She then writhed at the chain, sobbing, her hands clenched behind her neck, her teeth clenched on her own hair. She tried to hold the whip between her thighs. SNAP OF THE FINGERS
This is an unspoken command where having been trained, girl will kneel or rise at the snap of a Masters fingers.
QUOTE

STANDING
When commanded to stand a girl rises and holds her back straight, her stomach pulled in and her held high. Her hip is slightly turned.

'Stand as a slave,' he said. I stood beautifully, back straight, head high, belly sucked in, hip turned. No woman can stand more beautifully than as a Gorean slave girl. 'Excellent', said Ladletender, smacking his lips. Slave Girl of Gor pg 249

SUBMISSION
also known as the Collaring position
A girl approaches the Free Person and assumes the position of nadu and sweeping her hair free of her neck if begging for a collar. She then crosses her wrists and extends her arms out before herself and bows her head between them

SULA
A girl lays on her back, with her hands by her side palms up, with her legs open at least a shoulder�s width apart.
QUOTE
`Sula, Kajira!' said the man. She slid her legs from under her and lay on her back, her hands at her sides, palms up, legs open." Explorers of Gor pg 77

SUPINE

TOWER
The same as nadu with the knees being held together and the hands crossed at the wrists resting lightly before her in her lap It is accepted practice that when kneeling before a Free Woman a girl unless told otherwise will kneel in tower so as not to offend.

Not only is nadu the first and most important position a slave will likely learn. It is also a has been a frequent topic of debate.
Question: nadu, palms up or palms down?
Answer�.palms down
Here is my theory. I call this �The Doggy Theory.�
First, nowhere in the books does it say that in the position called nadu the palms should be up.
Second, it�s an unnatural position for the resting of ones hands.
And last but not least- WHO CARES?? - if a you are kneeling before me, legs splayed wide and I can see alllll of your goodies...I wouldn�t give an urt�s ass what position your hands where in. Seriously, why would any normal man even notice your hands unless they were covering the view? But I digress, because we�re �reading� it IS noticed and therefore goes on to further prove my theory. It�s all a matter of a silent plea.

Here are the quotes to support said theory and my explanations of said quotes.

(Note here he says �BUT, her hands had turned� This to me clearly expresses that she was not in the correct position.)

(Note here he says that her upturned palms are a common signal of need etc. This to me clearly expresses that she commits a purposeful act deviating from the position in order to gain attention and it worked!)

Now with this theory of mine I'm not saying that a slave shouldn�t turn her palms up when in nadu, only that it isn�t correct for the commanded position. Because its been said throughout the novels that a kajira should and would always express her need and desire to please...and in some places it even goes on to say that if she doesn�t she could be beaten. There is just something so sweeeeeeet about a secret silent plea. Mmmm.
