14/07/04 Aw the summer holidays, bliss! Much time has been spent relaxing around the house, watching dvds and working on hightownyp.co.uk ready for a September launch. Spent some time hanging out with the young people too and on Saturday 6 of us hit Grassrootz Christian Music Festival which rocked big! Best day of the year so far? Very possibly!
26/07/04 Off to America we go! Mum celebrated a milestone borthday yday (shhh) and today we are off to the States on tour. (Not a band tour just family holiday!) Spent a lot of time in Milton Keynes and Coventry last couple of weeks. Highlight of course was Gareth and Jenny's wedding. Although exhausting it was great fun and they were very happy with their day.
Luke 18:10-14 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men --robbers, evildoers, adulterers-- or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.' "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.' "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Divine Design by Steve (lyrics from steverock.com) Divine design my genes are new (resonate the truth) My former story's sold because of you Now my eyes see a prize That is greater than (greater than the world) It's the way, with the truth, In a life, that's everything. I know, cos I glow And it's all because, all because of you My light, my life It's all because of you I confess the best is still to come (we're waiting for the Son) There's a meet the maker time for everyone Are there signs in the times And do they show? (show it to the world) There's a way, there's a truth, There's a life that flows 2001 Starstruck Music (ASCAP)/Engage (Admin. By EMI CMP)

Deuteronomy 8:10-18 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. He led you through the vast and dreadful desert, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. He gave you manna to eat in the desert, something your fathers had never known, to humble and to test you so that in the end it might go well with you. You may say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me." But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.
May Your Wonders Never Cease words by Mac Powell/music by Third Day Father in Heaven Lord, may Your name be glorified Above all others Above all this world Above everything else in our lives For nothing else in all of this world matters But to live our lives for You and You alone May Your wonders never cease May Your Spirit never leave May we ever long to see Your face When weve turned from You again Oh how quickly we forget May we be reminded of Your grace May wonders never cease Beautiful Savior Truly You proved Your love for us While we were sinners in all our weakness Still You gave Your life upon the cross You saved us, Lord, from all of our transgressions And delivered us into Your loving arms Copyright 2003 Consuming Fire Music/ASCAP
14/08/04 Our travels through the USofA are at an end. We visited six states in total; Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and finally California. Not bad for 18 days work! The Grand Canyon was quite amazing and we had good fun hiking a couple of other canyons. Me and Jon enjoyed the hike down and up Bryce Canyon in particular. Vegas was crazy and Hollywood fascinating so all in all a rather nice little trip!
31/08/04 Needless to say the Athens 2004 Olympic Games somewhat dominated the next fortnight. A combination of recovering from the holiday and having BBCi coverage saw to that and it's only a fortnight every 4 years! The month finished with a lot of good laughs around the Willis' household over 2 days painting Liz and Bek's bedroom (and Becky) in some strange seefoody colours.

14/09/04 Fortunately the bruising has now gone down but if there is one thing I will have learnt from September 2004 it is that paintballing can hurt! Still it was a good day on Ian's stag do before he marries Becky in 4 days time. The weather this month had been glorious until the day we went to see England play in the ICC Champions Trophy at Edgbaston and then it rained. Oh well! We did get to see England bat though which was cool.
30/09/04 Back at uni now and over halfway through the first week. It's been a pretty good re-introduction to the student life and this term should be a lot of fun. But before all that started it was the story of the 2 Beckys. First B looked stunning as she married Mr Ian Gibbs and then the following day Bek was baptised alongside their close family friend Jane. Was great to play guitar and sing at both events and good fun!
| King or Cripple (delirious? taken from King of Fools) King or cripple what have I become? Beneath these kingly robes there lies a fragile man What made me a king can sometimes cripple All that you give can sometimes rob my innocence Why do you let us walk upon a cliff so steep When deep below the sea there lies a bed of gold And if this should be our battle place Don't let me fall, don't let us fall Keep me, keep me, keep me, keep me I love to hold the hand of one who healed the blind And saw the leper run into your arms of love King or cripple, they were the same to you You took the broken man and you treat him like a king Written by Martin Smith 1997 Curious? | Philippians 3: 7-14 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. |
