Third Quarter 2002 Meeting

On September 14, 2002, Lair No. 1 met at Max's Allegheny Tavern to hear Timons Esaias speak on "The Challenge of the Whiskey Rebellion; or, The Perils of Presbyterianism."

Tim provided samples of the material in question, and, as a result, no reliable memory of the presentation remains – except that at an early stage Tim showed a piece of Yunan tea money, the same kind of pressed tea blocks that were thrown into the harbor at the Boston Tea Party.

It is clearly remembered, however, that Woody Cunningham wrote and sang a marvelous version of The Big Rock-Candy Mountain as a high point of the talk.

Among those present at this meeting were:

  • Woody Cunningham
  • Ron DiOrio
  • Bob Edmunds
  • Tim Esaias
  • Charlei George
  • Dennis Looney
  • J. G. McGeoy
  • Mark Miller
  • Dan Parker
  • Phil Reiche
  • James Walton
  • Lee Wolfson
