Second Quarter 1997 Meeting -- Lair No. 1


This Mass Challenge meeting was held at Max's Allegheny Tavern on June 7, 1997 (though the initial invitation stated June 8, which was a Sunday). The challenge was to create a musical instrument and to play "My Last Cigar" on it. Mark Miller won the J. Z. Landgraf Prize with his trash can bass. Other competitors included Lee Wolfson with his wrench-a-phone, Greg Scheer with his tapsichord, Dan Morrison with his bass kalimba, Jeff Campbell playing his wedding china via videotape, Bob Edmunds playing his Rascal harp, Don Pickerine playing his snorklephone, Vic Norman playing his last cigar tuba. Runner-up was Lee Wolfson, who earned the McGeoy Bitter Cup with that effort.
