The River of Life

See comments

(This chapter continues the description of chapter 21 about the New World telling us more details about the new way of life and the differences between people who will take part in this more advanced stage of human existence and the ones who will not.)

And the angel also showed me the river of the water of life, shining like crystal
(the water of life symbolizes a loving and caring attitude, where everything a person needs for a happy life will be provided for,)
and coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
(Basic necessities such as food, clothing, housing, education, work, freedom from oppression and threats, are basic human rights given by God. These things are denied to many people these days because of the greed of the leaders who run this world In the New Age this will change fundamentally, see 21:6, 22:17.)

(2) It was flowing in the middle of the great street of the city.
(Providing for everybody's needs will be at the centre of the New World.)
On each side of the river was the tree of life,
(The Tree of Life refers to the Kabala, in traditional Jewish mysticism a system of the spiritual world, which helps people to achieve spiritual development as one of the important aims of this life, see 2:7.)
bearing twelve crops of fruit, one harvest every month.
(The spiritual enlightenment founded on the Kabala will also solve material problems as a by-product.)
And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
(It will also help to create a peaceful world and a fair distribution of wealth.)

(3) No longer will there be anything cursed.
(Disasters like the ones predicted in the Revelation, which have to be understood as a divine punishment and God's way to put pressure on humanity to change their wicked ways will be a thing of the past.)
The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in that city,
(The world will be ruled according to divine morals pronounced by Jesus and other prophets.)
and his servants will serve him.
(Arrogance and selfishness will be gone.)

(4) They will see his face, and they will have his name on their foreheads.
(This is now probably symbolic for the enlightened way of thinking and not to be understood literally as in the case of the Beast, see 9:4, 13:16, 14:1.)

(5) There won't be any darkness.
(Darkness symbolizes false thinking, which leads to human misery and suffering, see 8:12, 16:10.)
They will not need the light of a lamp
(human wisdom, faulty ideologies,)
or sunlight,
(people will also be less dependent on the uncontrolled forces of nature,)
for the Lord God will shine above them.
(Divine wisdom will help people to make many more achievements and enormous progress in science and philosophy.)
And they will have the power for ever and ever.
(This new world order will not be overthrown by another series of revolutions, because it represents a kind of final stage in history.)

(6) And he said to me, "These words are reliable and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants what must soon take place."
(One of the important lessons from the Book of Revelation and from some Old Testament prophecies is that human beings are unable to run their own history without divine interference through prophets. There have been times in the past, when a whole civilization went mad creating one disaster after another. We are living in such an era today, and the Revelation shows us not only where we are in historical development, but also gives us some ideas about what to expect next and what the final outcome will be. This is certainly an important gift from God, see 1:1.)

(7) "Look, I am coming soon!
(As you can see by the accuracy of the Revelation, see 2:25, 22:12, 22:20.)
People who take the words of the prophecy in this book serious will be happy."
(Because they will understand the meaning of what they see on the news and read in the papers every day.)

(8) I, John, am the one who heard and saw all this. And when I had heard and seen it, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who was showing all this to me.

(9) But he said to me, "Look, don't do that! I am a fellow-servant like you and your brothers the prophets and like everyone who takes the words of this book serious. Worship God!"
(Obviously it will be a great temptation for the person who is daring enough to try and fulfil the job description of the Rider on the White Horse and lucky enough to succeed to make himself the object of worshipping rituals. He must refrain from doing so, otherwise he or she might as well put his name or initials on money and on policemen's foreheads, see 19:10.)

(10) And he told me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near.
(Compared to the obscurity of Nostradamus and certain passages in the Book of Daniel,
the Revelation is remarkably easy to understand.)

(11) People who are evil shall continue to do wrong; those who are greedy shall continue to be selfish; people who are good shall continue to do right; and those who are holy shall continue to be holy."
(A leopard does not change his spots; there is very little chance of changing people and we must accept that the vast majority of human beings are lost souls in this age and when the New Age comes, it may already be too late for them, see 3:5, 13:8, 17:8, 20:15.)

(12) Look, I am coming soon! I will have my reward with me, to give to everyone what he deserves.
(See 2:25, 2:23, 22:7, 22:20.)

(13) I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

(14) "People who wash their robes
(change their way of thinking according to what they read here)
will be happy, because they will have the right to the Tree of Life
(They will not be lost souls and will gain a more enlightened consciousness,)
and may go through the gates into the city.
(They will take part in the New Age and new world.)

(15) Outside are arrogant people, those who practice black magic,
(See 2:24, 21:8.)
perverts, murderers, people who worship images
(e.g. wooden crosses, see 9:20, 21:8, Isaiah 44:13, 2:8, Habakkuk 2:18.)
and everyone who loves lies and practices falsehood.
(Which means the vast majority of people living today and in the past.)

(16) "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to disclose all this to you for the churches. I am the base and a descendant of David,
(This underlines the Jewish nature of Jesus and his teachings; one of the important features of the New Age will be the abolition of the antagonism between Jews, Christians, and perhaps also Muslims, see 14:1)
and the bright Morning Star."
(Venus, the symbol of love is the Morning Star.)

(17) The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!"
(This bride will also be an important person in the events to come, see 19:7.)
And whoever hears this shall say, "Come!" And if someone is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the water of life without paying.
(See 21:6, 22:1.)

(18) I warn everyone who hears the predictions of this book: If anyone adds anything to them,
(like the idea that the Beast is the Devil or the idea that the Rider on the White Horse or the Son of the Woman from chapter 12 is Jesus,)
God will add to him the punishment described in this book.
(Even if he calls himself Professor of Theology, Eschatology or Dogmatics.)

(19) And if anyone takes predictions away from this book, God will take away from him his share in the Tree of Life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

(20) He who informs about these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon."
(See 2:25, 16:15, 22:7, 22:12, 3:14.)

Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

(21) The love of the Lord Jesus shall be with everyone.
