Isaiah, Chapter 44:
Worshipping Idols

(In this part of chapter 44 the prophet Isaiah predicted the worship of wooden crosses by the Christians 2600 years ago with a great sense of humour and amazing accuracy. This is not against Jesus. It is worshipping his image and him through this image which fundamentally contradicts the Second Commandment and other Old Testament tradition which was the basis of Jesus' teachings.)
(13) The carpenter measures the wood and marks a figure with a pencil; he carves it out with his tools and shapes it in the form of a man, a handsome human figure (e.g. a wood-carver making a cross with a Jesus figure on it)
that it may stay in a house. (church, etc.)
(14) He cut down cedars, or perhaps took a cypress or oak. He let it grow among the trees of the forest, or planted a pine, and the rain made it grow. (15) It is man's fuel for burning; some of it he takes and warms himself, he lights a fire and bakes bread. But he also makes it into a god

(a wooden Jesus image)
and worships it; he makes an idol and bows down to it. (Catholic priests bow down in front of a cross.)
(16) Half of the wood he burns in the fire; over it he prepares his meal, he roasts his meat and eats his fill. (think about a barbecue)
He also warms himself and says, "Ha! I am warm; I see the fire." (17) From the rest he makes a god, his idol; he bows down to it and worships. He prays to it and says,"Save me; you are my god."
(18) "They know nothing, they understand nothing; (the Pope and his faithful, see Isaiah
42:17, Revelation
2:2.)
their eyes are plastered over so that they cannot see, and their minds closed so that they cannot understand. (19) nobody stops to think, nobody has the knowledge or understanding to say, "Half of it I used for fuel; I even baked bread over its coals, I roasted meat and I ate. Shall I make a detestable thing (a cross represents the most cruel way of killing, it is worse than a gun, a knife or gallows)
from what is left? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?" (20) He feeds on ashes, a deluded heart misleads him; he cannot save himself and say, "This thing in my right hand ...
... is not a god at all!"
VICARIVS FILII DEI = "Deputy Son of God" used to be a title of the Pope. Letters are Roman numbers. Adding them up leads to:

(21) Remember these things, O Jacob, for you are my servant, O Israel. (Jesus was one of the greatest Jewish teachers, which means his followers are also proper Jews, even though they call themselves "Christians".)
I have made you, you are my servant; O Israel, I will not forget you ..."
