| Due to the generosity of the Suruga Grant Program, I was able to participate in many great educational programs this year. Not only was I able to engage in multiple volunteering opportunities, but I was also able to teach about my experiences at over 45 schools to thousands of children. Pictures of my Habitat for Humanity building project are a staple in my self introduction and I always get many questions about it from the students. "Iii, ne! Watashi mo ikitai yo!" Their eyes light up and they look at each other with excitement when I tell them, "YOU can do it too." I hope they will. Actually, I am sure many of them will volunteer in the future. I want to thank the Suruga Grant Program for helping me to start them on their way to making the future a better place. |
