Carmelite Monastery of the Holy Family - 1966

Carmel of the Holy Family is a silent witness to heavenly realities. In imitation of and intimacy with Mary, we seek God's face through undivided attention to the WORD. In silence and in joyful praise, we strive daily to make our gift of self to God a reality by fidelity to the one love, revealed and confirmed by the humility of a hidden life. The primacy of prayer in our life mysteriously enriches Holy Mother Church with immense apostolic fruitfulness.

Eight nuns from the Carmelite Monastery of Sta. Ana in Sevilla, Spain, invited by His Excellency Msgr. Manuel P. del Rosario, first bishop of the Diocese of Malolos, started the purely contemplative life in the Diocese on December 11,1966, with the inauguration of the temporal house and Papal enclosure in Zamora, Meycauayan, Bulacan. The Parish Priest of St. Francis, Poblacion, Meycauayan, then, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Felix Sicat, was delegated by Bishop Manuel del Rosario to look after the needs of the group - a task he undertook with a truly paternal zeal.

The community transferred to the definitive monastery in Guiguinto, Bulacan on October 3, 1971, then the Feast of St. Therese of the Child Jesus.

The first fruit of the Carmel of the Holy Family in Guiguinto was the foundation of the Carmel of Our Lady of Nazareth in Cabanatuan City, Diocese of Nueva Ecija on April 8, 1983. After
ten years, on May 1, 1993, a second group of sisters was sent from Guiguinto to Burgos, Pangasinan for another monastery in the Diocese of Alaminos.

These monasteries gave life to flourishing groups of tertiaries: Lay, Priests and Seminarians who live the Carmelite spirituality in the framework of their priestly or secular vocation.
