One thing I can say about The Big Party is there was no shortage of food. Yum. It was pot luck, so there were tons of homemade meals and desserts.

It was amazing to see the Legion Hall filled - all with the descendants of two people, my great-grandparents. There were plenty of people I didn't even know!

The party itself was alright. They had karaoke, but no one really got into it. That was kind of surprising, given the number of performers in the family. Peter and Kerry saved the night eventually by setting up a keyboard and accordian duo and singing Newife tunes.

People didn't really start dancing until very late. Mom and Scott were out there for practically every song after that. We had to drag Mom away after midnight, when the rest of us were ready to go.

I guess I ate too much, so my stomach wasn't feeling well, and I wasn't much for dancing. Between Mom and Scott, I did get out there for a bit.

Peter had everyone sing "Happy Birthday" to me, which was really nice of him. Half the people there probably didn't know who they were singing Happy Birthday to!

We finally left after midnight and collapsed at home.

There were so many people I didn't know! I feel inspired to try to figure out who they all are. There were just so many people! You could imagine Great-Grandmother and Grandfather Noel looking down on the crowd in amazement at what they'd created.

Today I spoke with Steve for a while. He would have loved last night's party! I would have had a blast too, if he was there. Karaoke would have been far more successful.

We're going over to Uncle Davis and Aunt Bette's for dinner tonight. Valerie and Paul are staying there, and they are easy to get along with, so it will be really nice. We have to go to church at 7:00 - I'll be wearing that same black skirt again - then there's the birthday party for me. Hopefully there won't be a bunch of people I don't know. I'm hoping it will mostly be just the Dwyer bunch. I'm hoping I can stay awake!
