Saturday December 27, 2003  --  3:00pm

Tonight is The Big Party.  Mom is downstairs frantically putting together a lasagna.  She doesn't relax when she's here, and it's hard not to get underfoot.  I'm trying to stay out of the way.

I napped for about an hour, but I don't think it did much good.

--  4:00pm

Uncle Joe is here talking about the slaughter of turkeys.  Gah!

He also asked about our preparations for the party.  Dad Noel must have said something about how many would be there because Uncle Joe said, "'Tis no trouble to get up a crowd for a party!  Ya knows dat!"

--  5:00pm

Two hours now until the party.  Excitement (mine at least) builds!  Dad Noel is making his suppositions:  "Ay suppose Ay won't stay very late,"  "Jim 'n' Lil will be d'ere tonight, Ay suppose..."

There's supposed (heh) to be 100 or more people coming tonight.  I hope I remember most of them!

I really hope people bring instruments.  Usually at a family party, someone has brought music along.  Uncle Pat has his guitar, and Mom's cousin Kerry has his accordian.  Everyone sings.

-- only 5:40pm, but we're ready to go.

I'm suddenly feeling a bit sad.  Maybe because I truly
can't fit into my dress pants and have to wear the same skirt I wore Christmas Day.

Tonight's the night I'll most miss Steve.  It would be
so much fun to have him at a party like this one!
