Game # 531 – Cleveland (Kyle) vs. San Francisco (Derek) –

A big Season 6 game was tightly contested and in a recent Tecmo Trend Kyle has been an insane maniac when it comes to play calls ever since around game #505 (Cleveland vs. Indy). Like bionics left and right, endless 2 out of 3, and lots of demoralizing 1st down play calls. Since SF is so damn powerful they still managed to scare Cleveland a little bit in regulation. 0-0 after regulation the game goes to OT, where the immutable laws of Tecmo provide Cleveland with the ball. Cleveland drives the field and sets up shop for a 30-35 yard FG. Bahr JUST gets enough of it to scrape the back of the uprights in a tense moment and gets Cleveland the 3-0 win.

Game # 535 – Dallas (Kyle) vs. Denver (Cam) –

Another Seaon 6 game that saw Kyle get his first win with Dallas thanks to finally learning how to run the shot-gun play (just in time mind you) and keeping up his insane play calling on defense. Dallas managed to throw an endzone INT late in the first half giving Denver some hope but Dallas' kept picking their play. Final score: 10-3. In a classic sidenote, with 2 seconds left in the game Kyle throws a jew route and therefore is forced to throw an INT on the next play. Mecklenburg does the catching and proceeds to RUN 65 YARDS FOR THE MAJOR. TAKE THAT Dallas. This was not counted for some reason. Possibly a conspiracy to keep Denver out of the play-offs. But they'll make it. Oh, they'll make it. By hook or by crook.

Game # 537-539 – Various Season 6 Games –

Week 5 of Season 6 started out with 3 huge play-off impacting games. Seattle (Kyle) vs. Denver (Cam), San Francisco (Derek) vs. New York (Kyle), and Miami (Derek) vs. Cleveland (Kyle). Thanks to endless play calling (prompting a new Kyle-play calling defeating strategy that will be discussed later) and some tough play Kyle manages to WIN ALL 3 GAMES. Sadly it offically looks like the party days of getting to pound on Kyle have disappeared and been replaced by sad days of playcalls of doom.

Game # 544 – Cleveland (Kyle) vs. Chicago (Cam) –

To off-set all of this insane playcalling going on teams opposing Kyle offically go to The DICE That's right roll a dice to see what offensive play to call. This worked remarkably well in this contest, giving Chicago a couple of big key drives to win the game 6-3. As an added bonus:

The Only Hope vs. Kyle since he decided to be a maniac.

Whatever it takes. Dallas goes up early 3-0 which really should be the game when you play Washington but a determined Washington O managed to get into range and tie it up. And a little later they actually managed to TAKE THE LEAD, 6-3 thanks to a lack of playcalls. With WSH up 6-3, with the ball, and less then a minute to go just a first down would do it. Washinton proceeds to be ROBBED on a clear first down call where the ball has obviously passed the line but blue decided to do whatever it takes. Dallas' unstoppable O managed to get into range and send the game to OT. After several do-nothing drives for both teams, Washington set-up for a 41 yard FG that didn't have the distance (their 2nd missed FG of the game, standard whatever it takes) giving Dallas awesome field position and the 9-6 win. The game also featured a monster past mid-field kick return and a big punt return by Lavette demoralizing Washington even further and really showing that it was whatever it takes.

Game #552 - Denver (Cam) vs. Indianapolis (Derek) - The Taped Game Era

A nothing game notible for the fact that is the 1st game to be put down on videotape, something that was long overdue. Denver won 7-6 on a last second TD (standard John Elway comeback) and going to the videotape provided some nice stats (Indy 2 1st downs, Denver 8. Both teams getting 6 play-calls etc.) and some good watching.

Game #559 - New York (Cam) vs. Indianapolis (Derek) -

A tough game, as Indy can hang with the New York Giants like only a few teams in Tecmo Bowl can. With the game still scoreless Simms threw an INT and Indy managed to run it back to the Giant 8. Instead of risking getting pushed back out of FG range, Indy goes for the FG right away and gets it to go up 3-0. With less then a minute to go the Giants stay cool and drive the field, with a lot of Pass 1. With 1 second left Simms got out of bounds at the 25 or so yard line and New York tied the game. From there it was all over, everyone knew the Giants would win in OT, which they did.

Game #561 - San Francisco (Cam) vs. New York (Derek) -

Maybe the best match-up in Tecmo Bowl, as it is always an exciting game. The Giants go up 3 early but make a critical mistake of going for a QB sack with Jerry Rice wide open down field, Montana gets it away and suddenly: SF 7, NYG 3. The score stays the same the rest of the game. This marks Derek's 4th loss with the NYG, 2nd to SF. Probably the last time you'll see a game on the legendary page just because Derek lost with the NYG. On the road anyway.

Game #566 - New York (Kyle) vs. Chicago (Cam) -

A huge inter-divison Season 6 game that would likely determine the overall #1 seed saw Kyle manage to TWICE get inside FG range but throw ill-advised INTs allowing Chicago to keep the game scoreless with their offense doing squat. The game entered OT and again saw the Giants driving. Just 2 yards out of FG range the Giants get stimied, and even worse, Simms gets sacked on 4th down at the 50 yard line. Chicago finally has some cause for excitement on offense and manage to drive all the way to the Giant 1 before taking the field goal and the 3-0 win. Chicago really got outplayed badly but a failure on Kyle's part to follow the immutable law of TAKE YOUR DAMN POINTS really cost the Giants on this day.

Game #604 - Cleveland (Derek) vs. Seattle (Cam) -

December 27th, 2003 10:41 pm. The first game of Tecmo Bowl since June 14th, 2003. Close game, with lots of rust, saw Seattle miss a FG, and CLE win on a last second FG. Tecmo Fucking Bowl, baby.

Game #639 to #647 -

First offical big day of Tecmo in a long time. 9 games played, 6 for each of us. Cam went 4-2, Derek 3-3, Kyle 2-4. The Tecmo Gods picking up on the huge break between Tecmo playing thought it'd be funny to have the home teams go 1-8 on the day. Cam offically declares ready to play Season 6 after a strong showing.

Season 6 - Game #650 - Seattle (Kyle) vs. Washington (Derek) -

Season 6 back underway after literally months and months of not getting played. Not really a notable game otherwise, Washington battled hard, and thanks to Kreig being an idiot won 10-7.

Game #653 - Minnesota (Cam) vs. San Francisco (Derek) -

Season 6 game saw some strange goings-ons. Jerry Rice was stopped on the 1 yard line after a long bomb from Montana, then Montana made a big mistake of throwing an INT that Minnesota managed to return into field goal range, allowing them to tie it up 3-3. Then in a never-before-seen Tecmo play, that is hard to describe saw Minnesota's Gay Hidden Blocker of Doom (TM) pop the human defender and spring Nelson loose for the huge gain, and allowed Minnesota to kick the game winning field goal near the end of the game. It was all very strange. Luckily for San Fran it ended up having no play-off implications.

Game #654 - Denver (Cam) vs. New York (Kyle) -

Season 6 game. Denver needed this one to keep their play-offs hopes alive, so Elway got the defense extra motivated. The Giants' Pass 2 looked as terrible as its ever has, and a rattled Kyle couldn't regroup. Rulon Jones rang up INT after INT on Pass 2 in route to the game of his life. Final Score: Denver 7, New York 0.

Game #654 - Cleveland (Kyle) vs. Miami (Derek) -

Gerald McNeil captures the title of Kick Return Champion of the World, surpassing the long time champ Mike Gentry. Miami executed a planned short kick-off in order to get the ball back quicker but McNeil decided to run it to the house for his 17th career KR TD. This passed Gentry's 16 and gave McNeil the better kick return touchdown per game ratio then Gentry.

Game #660 - Los Angeles (Derek) vs. Cleveland (Kyle) -

A huge game for Season 6 with monster play-off implications. If LA won they'd make the play-offs, lose and they don't. If Cleveland won they'd get home field vs. Indy in the 1st round of the play-offs, if they lost they'd be out of the picture. The game came down to the final play. LA with the ball on Cleveland's 9 down 7-3 on 4th down with very little time left on the clock. LA goes with Run 2 catching Clevleand's mysterious defensive plan off guard. Cleveland called Bo's Run 1 and then chooses to control Minnifield (who would be blocked on any Run 2 attempt). Some bad D-coordinating there to say the least. Marcus Allen cut down, Minnifield rushes up but is grabbed by a rogue blocker, leaving Allen with just the computer to beat. Luckily for Cleveland their run defense converged quickly on Allen giving him no cutting room and allowed a Clevelad defender to dive and stop Allen about 2 yards short of the goal line and the play-offs.

Game #661 - Washington (Derek) vs. New York (Kyle) -

The last regular season game of Season 6. A defensive battle that went into OT 0-0, saw the Giants get impatient and throw an INT on 4th down on the Washington 40-45 yard line. Not terrible since you're the Giants, not terrible that is until the Washington guy RUNS IT TO THE HOUSE. Oops. Very reministant of Game #472, only this time it was a no-name defender. It was a very impressive defensive showing from a determined Washington team. The Giants occasionally strayed from the tried and true game plan of calling Pass 2 everytime and being Banks, likely angering the Tecmo Gods.

Game #662 - New York (Kyle) vs. Denver (Cam) -

A Season 6 play-off game notable for Tecmo setting new standards in the how much you can miss a field goal by and still get three points catergory.

Game #666 - Tecmo Bowl VI - Chicago (Cam) vs. San Francisco (Derek) -

Mike Gentry returned the game's opening kick-off for a TD giving Chicago the early lead. San Fran marched down field but were forced to settle for a FG. Gentry quickly made that mute with a big KR run into 49er territory, giving Chicago the FG and an insurmountable 10-3 lead. The Penguin Kings finished the job and capture the 6th ever Tecmo Bowl trophy, with a final score of 20-3. Chicago went 10-2 including play-off games, and firmly established themselves as the #2 mega power in Tecmo Bowl. Notabley Mike Gentry regained his kick return touchdown championship with his KR TD in this game. It marked his 18th KR major, surpassing McNeil, who held the title as as Tecmo's most prolfic kick returner for a measly 11 games.

Game #677 - Los Angeles (Cam) vs. Miami (Derek) -

Cam declares LA shit, and the 3rd worst team in the game after watching Miami and their 1 rated top outside linebacker totally shutdown LA's formerly high octane offense. Needless to say, nobody is happy about this.

Game #687 - Los Angeles (Kyle) vs. Seattle (Cam) -

Not a season game, or a big game in general but it featured one of the best goal-line stands in Tecmo history. On 4th and goal from about the 3, LA hands off to Marcus Allen but Seattle's safety Easily is able to steer Allen out of bounds at the 1 inch line, saving the game for Seattle.

Game #688 - Washington (Kyle) vs. Denver (Cam) -

The first game of Tecmo Season 7. Denver won 3-0.

Game #690 - New York (Derek) vs. Cleveland (Kyle) -

This Season 7 Week 1 game maybe the most shocking game of Tecmo ever. The Giants couldn't get their offense going against Cleveland's strong playcalling all day, giving Cleveland plenty of opportunity. Late in the game Cleveland finally put together a strong drive, avoiding playcalls well, and had Mack brake off a big 20 yard run. Kosar completed a deep Pass 2 throw and Mack capped it off with a big TD run. The Giants didn't have enough time to respond and Cleveland won the game 7-0. This derailed the New York Football Giants dream of a perfect 10-0 season, and marked Kyle's first career win over the Giants. Most are blaming the TI cover jinx.

Game #698 - Washington (Kyle) vs. Seattle (Derek) -

In maybe the longest game of Tecmo ever played Washington and Seattle entered OT tied at 0. Washington stuck to using Run 1 for minimal gains and relied on crazy defensive playcalling to win the field position battle for almost the entire game. Eventually a worn down Dave Krieg made a mistake while trying to go deep to The Congressman but instead hit a covered man over the middle for the interception. Washington took advantage and kicked the game winning field goal. This marked Kyle's first career win with Washington.

New Era of Tecmo Kick Returns

Game #700 - Cleveland (Cam) vs. New York (Kyle) -

Game #700, impressive stuff. McNeil stunned everyone by returning the opening kick-off for a touchdown, something that just doesn't happen to the New York Football Giants. This really goes to show how profound the new era of Tecmo kick returns is. Everyone is hoping for an evolution soon. New York's D held all game, and gave their O lots of chances. Instead of sticking to the immutable laws of Tecmo, the Giants decided to go for the glory of a TD, but instead ended up costing themselves a game they could have won by just taking their points when they had the chances. A pretty eventful 700th game.

Game #711 - Chicago (Kyle) vs. Miami (Cam) -

Dan Marino goes off and just stomps all over Chicago's defense after having recently scared the holy crap out of the Giants. Miami allows 17 and WINS. Stunning stuff. Miami's Pass 1 and Pass 2 aerial show has never looked stronger.

Game #714 & #715 - Los Angeles vs. Washington, Cleveland vs. Washington -

Ladies and gentleman the Doom Combo has had enough and are looking to bring Washington out of the basement with the help of their good buddy Doug Williams. Basically Washington has the desire and the defense to win games vs. virtually anyone, especially if the QB means business. People are putting the women and children to bed because things could get ugly.

Game #717 - Cleveland (Cam) vs. Chicago (Derek) -

The power of home continues to grow as now it appears kickers love home kicking and like to honk long kicks on the road. Butler misses two long FGs that are within his standard range for some reason, although it should be said one was a risky not full power kick. Costs Chicago the game, despite Mongo hauling in 3 INTs.

CAN SOMEONE STOP KICK RETURNS PLEASE?

Snipers letting us down since, well for a while now.

A classic Tecmo Goal-Line stand from Cleveland here, stopping Warner on the half inch line to prevent a game-winning touchdown with seconds left. If anyone ever asks you who can make a play, the answer is Hanford Dixon. One safety and scary ass kick return later Cleveland won 9-5.

Game #724 - Minnesota (Cam) vs. Indianapolis (Derek) -

Jack Trudeau shows why he doen't get paid any money at all. Down 10-3 and inside the 5, Trudeau crosses the line of scrimmage twice, then puts up an incredible air ball that is easily intercepted by Minnesota. Seeing Jack Trudeau try to throw for a TD is fun.

Down by 3 with 2 seconds left, and facing 3rd and goal, LA goes for the glory of a TD, only to have their play selected. But thanks to some homefield clock keeping there is still 1 second on the clock, allowing them to take a FG, send the game to OT and win it there. A very convenient turn of events for LA.

Game #735 - Seattle (Derek) vs. Chicago (Kyle) -

Seattle blocks a 42 yard field goal attempt, the latest of a surprising number of blocks lately. Could this be the new era of long field goals getting inexplicably blocked? Hopefully not.

Game #739 - Cleveland (Kyle) vs. New York (Derek) -

An epicly long game (possibly Tecmo's longest) saw Cleveland's defense play insanely all game, especially in the department of playcalls. After entering OT 0-0 Cleveland had two chances inside the NYG 20. The first resulted in LT blocking a 15 yard field goal attempt, and the 2nd saw Cleveland forgo a chance at a 13 yard field goal attempt, only to see their efforts get stuffed on 4th down. After that it was just a matter of time before New York evaded Cleveland playcalls and get their damn points.

Game #748 - Seattle (Derek) vs. Denver (Cam) -

This was a big Season 7 game for both teams, that saw Denver inexplicably blocks a 28 yard chip shot field goal attempt by Seattle, giving them opportunity to take advantage and win the game 6-3. Blocked kicks have been running about as wild as they can be lately.

A Season 7 game with no real implications saw San Fran control the game both offensively and defensively with big drives and lots of playpicks. Montana overthrew a potential TD pass early but made amends late in the game with a huge touchdown pass after launching a deep bomb to Jerry Rice. New York's 2nd lost of the season, something no expert could have predicted at the start of the year.

Game #766 - New York (Cam) vs. San Francisco (Derek) -

The classic Tecmo match-up saw San Fran jump to a pretty early 7-0 lead thanks to a huge Montana-to-Ass connection. New York showed no quit however and used a steady diet of Pass 1 to procure the game-tying touchdown. San Fran mounted a late drive down to the NYG 7 yard line but LT was having none of it. San Fran won the OT toss but couldn't take advantage, allowing New York to drive into field goal range and win the hard fought game 10-7.

Game #777 - Dallas (Derek) vs. Los Angeles (Cam) -

A Season 7 Week 10 game not really notible other then poor defenseless Dallas finishing off a miserable 0-10 season.

Game #780 - Seattle (Derek) vs. Washington (Kyle) -

The very last regular season of game with major play-off implications, thanks to Denver's earlier win over Chicago. If Seattle won they were headed to the play-offs, if Washington won it was Chicago. Washington obtained strong field position early and went for a extremely close pass, that might have been intercepted. Certainlty a toss up at best. Washington took advantage and scored the games only points, allowing them to win 3-0. Seattle didn't take it lightly and Tecmo went airborne, and while shaken it is still in working order. Seattle certainly has just cause to be outraged.

Game #783 - Los Angeles (Cam) vs. Indianapolis (Derek) -

The "LA is a good team." controversy. Season 7 2nd round play-off match-up.

Game #785 - Tecmo Bowl VII - Los Angeles (Cam) vs. New York (Derek) -

The 7th Tecmo Bowl, saw New York go to LA in what is one of Tecmo's biggest match-up advantages. LA battled hard and forced the game into OT, allowing Tim Brown to scare the Giants with a big return to their 30. But the Giants and Carl Banks don't allow first downs against LA so it was not to be. The Giants finished the job and captured the coveted Tecmo Bowl trophy.

Game #786 - Cleveland (Kyle) vs. Seattle (Cam) -

Season 8 kicks-off with Cleveland defeating Seattle 10-3.

The San Fran Media's hopes are high since Season 8.

Game #789 - Indianapolis (Kyle) vs. Denver (Kyle) -

Kyle's 1st career win with powerful Indy in 5 career Indy games. Now only Miami is stopping Kyle from having a W with all 12 Tecmo teams.

Game #799 - Minnesota (Derek) vs. New York (Kyle) -

Another season of Kyle with the New York Giants, another season of Minnesota laying the smack down on them. Only this time New York powers down the field with time running out, scoring a game-tying TD with only 2 seconds left from 2 yards out. Once in OT the Giants finished the job. But they were scared.

Game #800 - Denver (Derek) vs. San Francisco (Cam) -

The 800th game of Tecmo Bowl was a pretty good one. Denver went up with close TD pass but SF battled back with 2 field goals to make it 7-6. With time dwindling SF approaches field goal range but hits a bevy of playcalls forcing them out of range and to turn the ball over. A disappointing loss for San Fran.

Game #803 - Cleveland (Kyle) vs. Miami (Cam) -

Final score 28-17. Twenty-Eight to Seventeen.

Game #812 - Miami (Cam) vs. New York (Kyle) -

Miami puts together some big drives only to see Fuad miss one attempt from 14, and have LT blocked another from 9 out. Despite the sudden new era of Cam field goal blocking, New York manages to get one and win the game 3-0.

Game #826 - San Francisco (Cam) vs. Chicago (Derek) -

Chicago shows it means serious business this season with a 24-0 drubbing of the 49ers. Chicago's D-line stepped up to contain the San Fran air attack and the 49ers defense weren't prepared for the Chicago passing game.

Game #839 - New York (Kyle) vs. Miami (Cam) -

A big Season 8 Week 9 game saw the undefeated Giants face a determined Miami team. The Miami D came to play and allowed the offense to put together several big drives on a frustrated Giants defense, getting inside the Giant 5 on 3 seperate occasions. The Giants defense bent but didn't break until late with Miami driving with time running out. A fake blitz was picked up on a shotgun play in a strange turn of events and Marino found his target in the endzone for the major. LT blocked the PAT, giving Miami the 6-3 win and ruining the Giants win streak at 8.

Game #843 - Clevleand (Kyle) vs. Chicago (Derek) -

A good game but who cares since the big news is that the go-to main Player 1 controller stops working properly, thanks to all parties involved in this game. Something needs to be done.

Game #849 - San Francisco (Cam) vs. Indianapolis (Kyle) -

Last game of the Season 8 regular season saw San Fran and Indy square off for the divison title. A back and forth game, with Dickerson playing very strong, it came down to the final drive. A questionable completion allowed San Fran to march down the field and eventually hit Wilson on a deep pass to the end zone. The win gave San Fran the divison title and the 2nd overall seed going into the play-offs.

Game #850 - Chicago (Derek) vs. Cleveland (Kyle) -

The 1st game of the Season 8 play-offs saw Cleveland go into Chicago and play a strong game. Except Bernie Kosar who must have hung out with Dave Kreig before the big game, as Kosar blew several key plays, including stepping out of bounds with 4 receivvers open and throwing a couple of costly interceptions. Cleveland's defense played admirabley but they couldn't dig themselves out of Kosar's hole. Chicago took the 6-3 win.

Game #851 - Indianapolis (Kyle) vs. Denver (Derek) -

A first round Season 8 play-off game with a lot of pre-game trash talk. Denver made the first strike on a risky 4th down play from inside the 5 as Elway found an open man for the 6-0 lead. On the PAT Bickett made a strong effort and a mental error allowed Indy to make the block and keep the score 6-0. Inexcusable error from Denver here. A rejuvinated Indy team stepped up and played strong defense the rest of the way. Indy tied the score late on a 2nd FG forcing the game to OT. Denver won the toss but couldn't get it going. Dickerson stepped his play up and allowed Indy to capture the hard fought 9-6 win.

Game #853 - San Francisco (Cam) vs. Indy (Kyle) -

The East Finals in Season 8. Indy tried a long 45 yard FG attempt early but it was blocked, allowing San Fran to take advantage and get on the board. Later in the game Indy got in position for another long FG attempt and went for it. With the away wind in his face Biasucci came up short and San Fran put the game away with another FG, advancing to the Tecmo Bowl Finals.

Game #854 - Tecmo Bowl VIII - New York (Kyle) vs. San Francisco (Cam) -

The Season 8 Final saw San Fran go into Giant Stadium and play a textbook game. Ronnie Lott mystifying the Giant offense, and Joe Cool doing what he does best...throwing TD passes to Jerry Rice. LT did manage a PAT block on the game's opening TD but the Giants just couldn't get it going against Spider-Man Ronnie Lott, and Man of the People Pete Kugler. Basically a shameful giving up from the Giants. Final score 13-0. And with that San Fran wins their 1st ever championship and think about giving Ronnie Lott an extension on his deal.

Season 9 kicks off with San Fran manhandling a poorly prepared Indy squad.

Game #856 - Chicago (Kyle) vs. New York (Cam) ---

Kyle and Chicago play the game of their lives and really have the Giants baffled all game. The Giants never threatened to score all day and Chicago's offense had LT and company totally off-balance. A throughly remarkable performance. The Giants' dreams of a perfect season shatter in Week 1.

Game #861 - Seattle (Kyle) vs. Dallas (Cam) ---

The 100th over-time game in Tecmo history. Dallas won the toss and the game. It marked the 53rd time that the team winning the toss won the game. Cam's 74th OT, Kyle's 38th, Derek has 86.

Game #869 - New York (Cam) vs. Chicago (Kyle) ---

Gentry returns a kick to the Giant 10 giving Chicago a Season 9 sweep of the Giants. A shocking turn of events.

Game #873 - Indianapolis (Cam) vs. Miami (Derek) ---

The first game of Tecmo in over 2 months (May 29th to July 30th) so it might as well get legendary status. Indy won this Season 9 contest 6-3 on a last second field goal by Dean Biasucci.

Game #880 - Miami (Derek) vs. Chicago (Kyle) ---

After suffering through a large string of playcalls on offense, enough playcalls for hats to start to get thrown about, Miami mounted a late comeback in impressive fashion, tying the game up at 10-10 to force over-time. Miami won the toss, avoiding Gentry, and got into field goal range to win 13-10. This was a big game for Miami as they desperately needed the win to stay in the Season 9 play-off hunt. It was an impressive performance from a determined Derek.

Game #887 - San Francisco (Cam) vs. Los Angeles (Derek) ---

Well waiting for Season 9 to get finished, it's time for something to fill the gaps. That something is the Tecmo Cup. This was the first game of the thing. San Fran won 6-3 despite a strong defensive effort from LA and Tim Brown putting on a scary kick return at the end of the game, before finally being tackled at the San Fran 40 with no time remaining.

Game #900 - Denver (Kyle) vs. Los Angeles (Cam) ---

Yes, 900 games. Denver beats up on poor LA 13-0.

Game #905 - Miami (Derek) vs. Denver (Kyle) ---

A back and forth season 9 game saw Denver down 9-7 with time running out when John Elway completes a miracle long bomb deep into field goal range with only seconds left. A controversial completion, as Miami swears they had a man back on coverage. Denver kicks the field goal as time expires to win 10-9 and essentially end Miami's slim play-off hopes.

Game #911 - Indianapolis (Derek) vs. Seattle (Cam) ---

A Tecmo Cup game which saw Albert Bentley return his very first kick to the house ever in 144 games played. Now only Phil McConkney of the Giants, and James Pruitt of Miami have yet to take one all the way. Bentley was kind of overdue for this as he's not as bad as some of the other returners and occasionally gets a big return. That doesn't mean it didn't hurt Seattle any less however.

Game #919 - New York (Derek) vs. Seattle (Cam) ---

The heavily favoured Giants took on Seattle in the first round of the play-offs of the first ever Tecmo Cup expecting to cruise into the second round, but Steve Largent and Fredd Young had other ideas. Young led a Seattle defense that came to play, throwing all their tricks at the Giant offense, and had great success early. Phil Simms couldn't get the offense out of Giant territory, and Dave Kreig and Steve Largent were able to take advantage and land a couple of long bomb passes just out of the reach of Carl Banks. Seattle jumped to a 13-0 lead after an ill-advised 4th down attempt by the Giants in Giant territory. Largent caught both TDs, with LT blocking Seattle's first PAT. The Giants made a game of it with a FG before the end of the first half and a rally late, but Young's endzone interception with time winding down iced things and Seattle completed thier stunning upset. Final score: 13-3.

Game #921 - Denver (Derek) vs. Chicago (Cam) ---

Another 1st round Tecmo Cup play-off game saw John Elway do what he does best. This was a close contest, with Denver really playing some strong team defense against a struggling Penguin Kings offense. Denver got on the board first with a field goal, but Mike "The Original Killer" Gentry decided to do some killing and dropped a quick 7 on the Broncos. Elway rallied the troops and got a field goal to respond. Chicago managed to retake the lead late in the game with a field goal for the 10-6 lead. With time running down John Elway took over the game, racing the offense downfield, while Chicago couldn't come up with any answers to stop them. With only seconds to play Elway completed a pass over the middle to Dorsett at about the 10, Mike Singletary had his eye on the clock and allowed Dorsett to advance to the 1-yard line where he had to make the tackle. Everyone looked to the clock: 0:01 remaining. Chicago's bench erupts at the blantent home field clock management, screaming at the officals that time expired but their protests went unanswered. So with 1 second left from the 1-yard line Denver need the major for the win. Denver comes out of the huddle in running formation, flustering a Chicago defense ready for a shotgun passing attack. Elway handed off to Dorsett who managed to out run Richard Dent to the corner onf the endzone for the TD and the win, sending Mile High Stadium into a frenzy.

Game #924 - Denver (Derek) vs. San Francisco (Cam) ---

The Tecmo Cup I Finals. Despite being off a last second touchdown win over Chicago, and a last second field goal win over Seattle in the play-offs of the Tecmo Cup things didn't start well for the Broncos. John Elway stepped out of bounds in the endzone on a shotgun passing play, giving San Francsico a very early 2-0 lead. That was the end of 49ers offense on this day. Denver played a tight defensive game, and with the Mile High fans making a lot of noise Joe Montana never got on his game. Denver's offense played a very solid game controlling the clock, and taking shots when they had to. The Bronco's special teams also had a great game. San Francisco just couldn't compete with the determined Broncos on this day, dropping the game 17-2. Denver captures the Tecmo Cup, their first big win as a team. This win also marks the 400th of Derek's Tecmo Bowl career.

Game #934 - Minnesota (Cam) vs. Dallas (Derek) ---

The start of the 2nd Tecmo Cup, saw these mega-powers square-off. Both sides were rusty, and Minnesota manged to grab a 3-0 lead. Dallas was driving down field late looking for the game-tying field goal, but Joey Browner got a pick on an errant Pass 1 attempt by Danny White.

Game #936 - San Francisco (Cam) vs. New York (Derek) ---

Another Tecmo Cup 2 game, featuring actual mega-powers. A highly defensive battle for the first 3 quarters, with neither team doing much of anything on offense. Late in the 4th the Giants attempted a long field goal (40-41 yards) with time running out but it was blocked! San Fran used the momentum to march downfield, including a deep completetion on Pass 3 to get inside the NYG 10. The Giants defense backed the 49ers up a couple of yards with a playpick, but Werschin had enough leg to get the ball over LT's reach and recorded the game winning field goal as time expired.

Game #955 - Denver (Derek) vs. San Francisco (Cam) ---

Tecmo Cup 2 quarter-finals. Denver jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and held on with tough defense through 3 quarters. In the 4th quarter SF finally got a little something going and then Montana made a bad mistake throwing to a covered receiver on Pass 3, giving Denver the ball in great field position. Denver manged to quickly get into FG range and kicked the FG to go ahead 6-0. After the kickoff was returned to about the 20 there was 59 seconds left and 80 yards to go for Joe Cool and Co. Montana circles the wagons and leads the 49ers all the way down the field with a Pass 2 and 3 heavy attack. With 3 seconds left from the 3 yard line Montana calls for Pass 3. Denver's defense went with Pass 1 coverage. Montana quickly recognizes the defense and puts a head fake on Rulon Jones to clear room for the game winning touchdown pass to Jerry Rice. SF 7, DEN 6. One of the all-time legendary drives in Tecmo history.

Game #959 - New York (Derek) vs. San Francisco (Cam) ---

Tecmo Cup 2 Semi-finals and the longest game ever played. On the opening drive NYG's offense looks strong as BoMo rips a couple of 10 yard runs and the Giants easily make it into field goal territory and make it 3-0. SF answers back quickly on their opening possession with a sustained drvie all the way down to the NYG 8. Wersching makes the tough kick against LT, and it's tied up 3-3. After 2 opening drive scores the defenses really step it up and regulation ends still 3-3.
NYG wins the coin toss and the defensive battle continues, as NYG slowly but surely start winning the field position battle. SF finally puts together a little drive to nullify that. The teams trade at least 7-8 punts, as SF's defense really starts playing out of it's mind with playpicks and opposite side runs. Phil Simms finally makes a mistake throwing an INT in Giant territory. SF moves it to the NYG 5 and plays it weak-tight from there with a slew of Run 1's moving to the NYG 3. Wersching comes out for the game winning field goal attempt...and chokes! LT applied the pressure and Ray didn't get enough on it.
Momentum seems to be on NYG's side but the Ronnie Lott led 49er defense still won't allow Phil Simms to get ANYTHING going and SF gets the ball back. Joe Montana puts together yet another long drive getting to the NYG 10 or so yard line. Montana calls Pass 3 and catches the NYG without coverage on Jerry Rice. Marshall decides to gamble and come in for the sack attempt while Montana is shaking the LE. Montana quickly sees it and throw the game winning TD pass to Jerry Rice in the corner of the endzone. SF 10, NYG 3. The OT lasted at least 20 minutes. SF moves onto the finals to play Chicago and many think they are a Team Of Destiny after two huge wins over Denver and New York.
