February 26th, 2007. Possible breakthrough in the field of ED/No ED theory.

The latest and greatest theory from the Tecmo Lab:
Little TM on the top of the cartridge beside "Tecmo Bowl" = Eric Dickerson
Registered symbol (R) or nothing on the top of the cartridge beside "Tecmo Bowl" = No Eric Dickerson.

So far this theory is 4/4 on ED copies and 2/2 on No ED copies.

May 8th, 2006. Here's a link to a list of quotes about Tecmo from athletes. Some Tecmo Super Bowl stuff but still a good read. Link is on the Links page as well.

April 13th, 2006. TM/USA=Dickerson theory takes a big hit as Derek picked up a copy of Tecmo Bowl today from a local retailer for the low, low price of $9.99 that featured TM/USA marks. Sadly, it's a non-Dickerson verison. A potential new theory was quickly worked up (Sticker Theory) but after inspection of 4 seperate cartridges it doesn't hold up. So now we're operating in the dark when it comes to deteriming what version of Tecmo a cartridge is.

April 6th, 2006. Picked up a copy of Tecmo Bowl today from a local retailer for the low, low price of $9.99. And yes, it's a Dickerson version. It's a TM/USA cart so the old TM/USA=Dickerson theory comes through yet again.

March 26th, 2006. Big trouble for San Fransico kicker Ray Wersching. He's being indicted on embezzlement charges. The San Francisco Chronicle has the story here.

March 12th, 2006. Added Jim Mcmahon's webpage to the Tecmo Links page.

March 8th, 2006. Should be noted that no less then FOUR different Tecmo Bowl players are appearing on the new Spike TV show Pro's vs. Joe's. Jerry Rice, Herschel Walker, Jim McMahon, and Bo Jackson! This show has tremendous upside potential.

March 7th, 2006. Twin Galaxies updated their record page for Biggest Blowout in Tecmo Bowl. The current listed record is 91 points. My personal best is 105 but I didn't tape it to submit to Twin Galaxies. I just got an e-mail from a Chris claiming 112-0 win with San Fransico over Dallas. 112 is probably the maximum achievable score. It'll be a great record if Chris submits a tape of his game.

February 26th, 2006. Jerry Rice pulled out all the stops, including GIANT AFRO WIGS, but came up just short on ABC's Dancing With The Stars, finishing in 2nd place behind Drew Lachey.

Jerry Dances!

February 22nd, 2006. Added classy Tecmo Cup banner to the Tecmo Cup pages.

February 17th, 2006. Jerry Rice has advanced to the Finals on Dancing With The Stars, overcoming the wildly biased judging from NFL Ref-like judges. Only Stacy Keibler, Nick Lache's brother, and Jerry Rice are left on the show. Jerry Catches, Jerry Dances. What can't Jerry Rice do? Nothing. It's just one of the many benefits of being The Greatest Of All-Times.

February 11th, 2006. Jerry Rice has advanced to the Final Four on Dancing With The Stars despite NFL Ref calibre judging. Jerry Dances.

January 27th, 2006. --- Breaking News --- Tecmo Legend Nominee Controversy

The release of the 10 nominees for status as a Tecmo Legend has more then a few players riled up and ready to call a Congressional hearing.

Special report from Derek:
An irate Carl Banks burst into Tecmo HQ's today demanding a public apology from Tecmo Board President Cam Allen. Carl, like many other Tecmo Greats was eagerly awaiting the big announcement today regarding the 10 finalists on the ballot for the 1st ever Tecmo HOF inductions. "I figured it was kinda like a formality you know, I mean, come on, I'm Carl Banks". Later he went on to explain: "I am the Man on D, I thought everyone knew that? I mean I wasn't upset playing in the massive Shadow of LT before because we were winning so much, but now that I'm getting over looked I have to wonder if all those championships were worth it. Hasn't anyone around here heard of CB contain? I'm not letting this go, this is personal."

After a period of shouting and demanding that the Tecmo Board President be brought before him he was asked to leave by security, which, by all accounts was not the brightest move. It was at this time that Carl started running around the lobby of the building clotheslining all the security he saw as well as tipping over every table he could find. Carl calmed down after about 45 minutes, at which time he sat down at the front entrance blocking everyone from entering and exiting the building. This lasted another 5 minutes before Carl exclaimed that he was hungry and had to go, but that "this wasn't over." Cam Allen was unable to be reached for comment and it is assumed that he has already gone into hiding until the HOF ceremony. It will probably be advisable to hold a secret ceremony just so we can avoid a repeat of the actions seen today by one of the truly great Tecmo Legends.

News from around the league was not any more upbeat. We were able to gather quotes from several players who are outraged by today's list;

Mike Singletary had "No comment." Mike Gentry was "shocked and appalled," explaining that "Me, Mike and Payton, ain't nobody can touch us, we the toughest boys in the league. Why do you think nobody wants to travel to Chicago? Cuz it's cold? No, cuz when you travel to Chicago you always have to answer one question: How do you like your Kicks?"

Deverson overhearing the commotion couldn't resist adding his opinion. "This list is a joke, ED couldn't break a tackle from me if he life depended on it, that's just fact." "Who's the only man to pick off Joe Cool 4 times in 1 game? Hanford that's who. I play safety like its nobody's business, I even taught Minnifield how to play along the way, ya he ain't my caliber but can you blame him? I'm out there every day making him look good, making everyone look good, nobody runs on Cleveland cuz of Hanford. Ya Hear."

Reactions from around the league also included:

Howie Long: "Who is this Cam Allen guy anyways? Certainly not the new Jesus, I can tell you that much."
Phil Simms was not upset only offering that "his time will come."
Tony Dorsett: "Is there anything about my game that doesn't scream HOF?"
Joey Browner: "No, I'm not upset, I'm just going to have to work that much harder, and I will, you can count on that."

Mark Bavaro had the most violent reaction instantly snapping and going into an uncontroable rage after reading the list. This caused everyone to flee the Giants locker room for a time while he settled down by taking his frustrations out on the wall. Later when asked what upset him so much he replied: "Phil Simms is the hardest working man in the league, if Phil Simms isn't on that list, nobody should be on that list."

Joe 'BoMo' Morris sympathized with Bavaro's pain. "He's right, Phil does deserve to go, he should be the second one ever inducted, right after me. You don't get the nickname BoMo by not tearing it up, no, no, you get the nick name BoMo by splitting the D like there is no tomorrow."

Other reaction from Cleveland aside from Hanford was negative as well. Kosar questioned Cam Allen's football intellect and Mack would only offer "Let's just say, if I see him on the street there is gonna be trouble, Mack trouble."

Jerry Rice said that he was honored to be on a list with such great players but commented that he was disappointed by the lack of receiver representation. He later went on to make a case for the Great Tim Brown, who could not be reached for comment.

The release of the 10 nominees has obviously caused quite a stir in the Tecmo world, and the Board President has already responded by appointing both the #1 and #2 alternatives for the next Tecmo Legend induction list, to be added for consideration as soon as a spot on the list of 10 becomes available. "Carl Banks is the next player to be nominated for Tecmo Legend status. No doubt about it. After Banks it's Mike Gentry. Both are great, great players and deserve recognition."

-Tecmo Sports News reporting.
