When there are existing substances that have been proven to treat illnesses, it is fraud to try to modify or design equivalent substances in order to obtain a patent.
Two powerful new AIDS drugs that you can create by combining substances that
are available cheap on the net and in health food stores without a prescription.
Am I kidding? Nope. Furthermore they were not developed and extensively tested
by a large multi-national drug company. Most people will find this hard to
believe. The reason for this situation is that these are natural drugs and the
individual components that are combined to create these drugs are not by
themselves drugs. Quercetin has been sold for years as a vitamin and spirulina
as a herb without anyone realizing that quercetin was a pro-drug and that
spirulina contained a pro-drug. Through sheer dumb luck I ran into the interactions as I've
described in the Experiments section of this web site and kept experimenting
until I had discovered how they worked. I didn't have to design these drugs. My
approach was simply to elucidate out how they worked. When I was originally
looking at the research papers I would sometimes see the phrase "these
substances could serve as the basis for rational drug design". I said to
myself, "I think the natural substances will do just fine". Since
these substances are commonly available all I needed to do was make the
information available.
Many drugs originally came from natural sources. For example Alexander Fleming's discovery of penicillin was the result of his observation that a mould growing on a culture dish inhibited the growth of bacteria. Many discoveries in science are due to observations of unexpected results and this has also been the situation in my experiments. Although it was not my intention or goal, I have solved what I now know is called "the flavonoid absorption problem". The flavonoids are in plants, and it is through the study of medicinal plants - herbs - that flavonoids were discovered. It was not previously understood how they were absorbed into cells.
It is not necesssary to conduct large double blind clinical trials to prove efficacy. Even semi-random trials can be statistically analyzed. In general all clinical trials should have top statisticians from universities as consultants to ensure scientific accuracy of the trials.
Tip: The Great Barrier Reef is the biggest coral reef in the world and is down the Queensland coast. If you want to see it, night time is very good, because the coral are luminescent.
There are also two industries that currently seem to be almost at war - the vitamin industry and the drug industry. The underlying basis and world-view of these two industries is very different. The flavonoids have one foot in each camp, because they were previously owned by the vitamin industry, but when used with vitamin C as I have described are in fact drugs. This situation will need to be resolved.

This article is excellent. It is because of this article that I found out about the online medical database Medline, referred to in the Discussion section of this web site. Almost all the scientific articles I cite in the Discussion section were located by doing searches on Medline which allows precise and targeted searching of an enormous number of scientific articles. I was doing searches on HIV and vitamins and the searches turned up articles that referred to quercetin which I knew was available in health food stores. This whole web-site and my discoveries would not have been possible without access to Medline. It is important to read this article to gain insights into Medical Reporting.
