Parables of FaithScripture is commentary on scripture. The gospels of the New Testament are faith stories about the life of Jesus, but they are inspired by the ministry of Paul and the witness of other Greek-speaking Christians. Each gospel is a commentary on Jewish scripture as understood by a Christian community in the first century. Every story told in the New Testament represents the faith of a church and not merely the events of the past. Telling a story of Jesus is a way of living faithfully. This is not history or biography. This is preaching and proclamation. The stories offered here are also commentaries on scripture. They view life through the lens of faith. They tell us about the Bible as they relate stories of men and women struggling to be faithful. Each story will be put on the web site chapter by chapter. Those with comments about a story are invited to use email or the guest book to share their suggestions. The challenge of faith is to bring our stories into the story of Christ. Your help in doing that for our time is greatly appreciated. This story of Christians and Muslims who are struggling for justice in Pakistan presents an understanding of the Bible that affirms Muslim as well as Christian faith.
