Interfaith Cooperation

I have worked for many years with ecumenical Christian organizations, and for the past ten years I have directed an interfaith organization that supports religious freedom and promotes tolerance among people from different faith communities. The following essays present a critical approach to interfaith work.

Address to the 1999 Parliament of the World's Religions

A large interfaith gathering was held at the end of 1999 in Capetown, South Africa. I was invited to deliver a major address.

Religious Faith and Interfaith Cooperation

Interfaith cooperation should be seen as a strategy for securing religious freedom and other fundamental human rights.

The goals of interfaith cooperation should include transparency, humility and solidarity.

The Challenge of a Global Ethics

Suggestions made in 1992 before the 1993 Declaration Towards a Global Ethic was approved at the Parliament of the World's Religions.

Organizing Interfaith Dialogue

The STEP method: studying scripture, talking, eating, and praying together.

Interfaith Dictionary

Defines the key words used in interfaith dialogue.

Non-adversarial Conflict Resolution

An approach that emphasizes harmony and interdependence.

Ecology and Human Rights

Learning from human rights advocacy for human dignity to support ecology by advocating for an earth community.

Truth and Interfaith Dialogue

Inter-religious dialogue should clarify the truth about faith as a personal experience, the facts concerning religious traditions, and the human right of freedom of religion or belief.
