Since I’ve just finished seeing the movie “A Knight’s Tale”(excellent, BTW---I’d highly recommend it!), and am hoping to see “Pearl Harbor” when it opens, it got me thinking , since both of these movies deal with the topic of heroes, what constitutes a  hero, and who on PC could rightly qualify for that title? Well, quite a few people, as it turns out, so below is my list (in no particular order) of the characters on PC that I would deem to be heroes, along with a rating ranging from 2-4 stars (2=truly heroic, 3=exemplary and outstanding, 4=above and beyond the call of duty).

Chris: for dismantling the shrine supposedly implicating Eve in the General Homicide killings, most recently for offering to provide a loving home for her and her baby, and for just generally being a loyal, true-blue friend (to Eve, anyways, LOL!)=****

Ian: for being an all-around good guy by doing his best to save Arianna from her homicidal family (loses points for neglecting Eve in the process!)=**

Lucy: I know this happened while she and Kevin were still on GH, but since they showed it in a very moving flashback, I’m going to cite it here---for helping Kevin deal with the demons of both his mother’s abuse and uncover what really happened the night Grace was killed=****

Victor: for his many “spy vs. spy”capers, and for always being willing to lend a hand with his tekkie genius and CIA connections=**

Matt: for showing us that being differently abled is anything but being somehow less than “normal”, and for his care and concern for Ellen even after their break-up=****

Frank: for his valiant attempts to go back to the future in order to rescue true love Karen from oblivion (and save Arianna in the process)=***

Joe: for having the courage to stand by his convictions and do what he thought was right in order to save Neil’s life when everyone else was against him=****

Neil: for his heroic battle against (and victory over) leukemia=****

Serena: for her bravery when she was blind (however temporary a situation it may have been), and also for refusing to play the blame game and upbraid anyone for her loss of sight (are you listening, Lucy, Eve, Scotty, and Kevin?!) thereby proving herself infinitely more mature than all of the adults around her=****

Karen: for beating her addiction to drugs, but mostly for overcoming the effects of her traumatic past and childhood by becoming the wonderful, caring person that she is today=***

Ally: for refusing to let Jamal take the rap for a murder he didn’t commit, as well as for having the courage (in spite of being so badly traumatized) to face up to the fact that she had killed Cedric, and for being willing to take the consequences; also, for having the guts to defy Grandma and her family and pursue a life and dreams of her own=****

Well., that’s it for my heroes list---I’m sure I’ve forgotten  a few heroic deeds or persons from PC, but it makes quite an impressive gallery all the same. So, until next time, in the words of yet another hero, “May the force be with you!”
