What started off as a desperate plea to win over Eve's heart ended poignantly as Chris found himself on the receiving end of her refusal to his proposal of marriage.  While there have been quite a few remarks floating around about Dr. Ramsey's intentions where his best friend, the beautiful Dr. Lambert is concerned, one thing is quite obvious, the love he feels for her.  After making his way up to the cabin, Chris found himself at a place, at a turning point if you will when he was able to allow his heart to be voiced freely or he could back peddle as he often has done in the past.  He asked Eve about a drink, in order to work himself up to the situation as anyone could clearly see, and when he was barely able to get out his declaration of love, one could tell the raw depth of emotion behind that feable attempt of confessing his feelings for her.  While Chris tried to underplay the moment, one could clearly see the longing behind his eyes or even feel the pain as he put on a false front realizing that once again his dreams of having Eve's love had evaded him.

Is Eve aware that he feels this strongly for her?  Probably not...in fact Eve probably won't figure it out for quite some time as Eve is wrapped up in her whirlwind romance with Ian.  She truly wants with all her heart to have her happily ever after with Ian, but is that truly where her heart lies?  Is Ian in fact her soul mate and her eternal love or perhaps is she overlooking what could possibly be the greatest love of her life in Chris Ramsey?  The future of this duo is still quite hazy as the book seems to be far from closed between Chris and Eve.  However, what are the odds of it working out?

Let's take a track through time with other couples who've been up against the odds and found themselves in similar situations.  We'll view the hits and misses:

When Harry Met Sally--Harry (Billy Crystal) meets Sally (Meg Ryan) on a post-graduation drive from the University of Chicago to New York, but when she rebuffs his flip advances, instant antipathy is born. Nonetheless, over the next 10 years in Manhattan, the two bump into each other at various emotionally crucial points in their lives and eventually manage to effect a friendship. Then sex rears its insistent head once more, and, following a period of readjustment, commitment-shy Harry learns that staying an entire night--and possibly an entire life--with one's object of lust is actually possible.

When Chris Met Eve--
Long before the sex came into the picture for Harry and Sally they had time and years to develop a rewarding friendship and gain an understanding of one another much like Chris and Eve have done over the years.  For Chris and Eve it's still purely platonic, but like Harry and Sally they know one another inside and out and have reached a level of understanding with each other.  Will friendship blossom into love like it did with Harry and Sally, some would like to think so.  After all Harry and Sally proved that being best friends can quite easily make for a true and lasting relationship--something Eve might want to think about in the future.

Friends First:
Chris Lorenzo and Rita Lance
(USA's Original Series: Silk Stalkings)

Detectives Chris Lorenzo (Rob Estes) and Rita Lee Lance (Mitzi Kapture) were partners, friends, and eventually lovers. The show initially had a romantic tension between the two which carried the show for many seasons as their relationship flourished and viewers eagerly awaited the pairing of these two obvious soulmates.  They shared it all together, the good, the bad, the highs and the lows, but eventually found a little slice of happiness together for a brief time as they were wed and expecting a child when their love story came to a closure. True love met tragedy as being in the line of duty cost Rita the man she loved and their future, however there was one thing that was undeniable: their love for one another, thus proving that sometimes in being friends first, the best relationships can come about without you knowing it.

Friends For Eternity:
Chris Ramsey and Eve Lambert
Once again this pairing proved that being friends first and knowing one another inside and out could prove to be a worth while and lasting relationship.  Their love outlived their time together and over the years both Chris and Rita helped each other through the good times and bad with their coming and going relationships with others until they found together at last the love they'd been searching for.  Hopefully for Chris and Eve that realization will come about as well without it ending all too abruptly as the magic between friends is just a start of something wonderful.

Destined for One Another
Scarlet O'Hara and Rhett Butler (Gone With The Wind)--Scarlet's declarations of love for Ashley Hamilton only ended up in being the one thing that stood before her and the great love of her life Rhett Butler.  By the time Scarlet saw what she truly had in her handsome counterpart, it was a poignant closure to this tale of two souls destined to be together.

Destiny Began with A Christmas Kiss
Much like Scarlet, Eve has her eye set on a man who she believes to be the one for her, but over time will Eve, too realize, that her opportunities with Chris Ramsey could've been what she'd waited a lifetime for or will Chris turn out to be the Rhett Bulter of Eve's life?

Too Little Too Late
Dermot Mulroney stars as Michael O'Neal, who finally gives up on his nine-year crush on Julianne only to have her change her mind. Julia Roberts stars as Julianne Potter, a restaurant critic who realizes too late that she's in love with her best friend."

Is it Too Late?
Chris has harbored a crush on Eve for a great many years, but how much rejection can one man take?  This guy has pushed his life aside for so long in the hopes that one day Eve will see the light, but will fate play for them like it did with Michael and Julianne?  Will Chris move on before Eve comes to the realization that Chris is what she truly desires?  Here's hoping it doesn't get to that.  (Note: Maybe someone should take Eve to the video store pronto!)

I Love You, But I'm Not Allowed to Show it...
Oscar Novak (Matthew Perry) and Amy Sheppard (Neve Cambell) star in Three To Tango where Oscar's mistaken sexuality lands him the dream job and the woman of his dreams.  Only there's one teeny-tiny problem, she thinks he's gay.  Tending to his prospective bosses girlfriend Amy, he forges a friendship with her, though he fears what it's impact will have on his professional life.  He hides his feelings from her and lives in the charade for quite some time while she remains in her relationship to a married man.  However as time goes on, Oscar realizes he can't deny his feelings for Amy as he makes a startling revalation to the world.  His love for Amy couldn't be denied as their friendship transpired into something wonderful--love!!

I Love You, but Can I show it?
Like Amy, Eve is wrapped up in what she believes to be a deep, profound relationship with a married man.  Yes Ian may promise her love and eternity, but Chris can give her what she's seeking.  Of course also like Amy and Oscar, Eve feels that a relationship with Chris would be out of reach.  He makes a great friend and should to lean on, but could they cross that invisible line and become lovers.  (Note to Eve: Last time we checked Chris is very straight like Oscar, pluse he has the hots for you, though he's too afraid to show it.  Go for it girl!!!

Every Road Leads Back to You
Zach and Kelly: Saved By The Bell.
We viewers watched this duo grow from childhood friends to one of NBC's teen romances.  Schemer Zach longed for Kelly a great many years before finally winning over the hand of the lady of his heart.  Through relationship after relationship, these two kept finding their way to one another until finally they couldn't bear to be apart.

All These Roads...

Sure, friendship is filled with ups and downs, and that most certainly is the case with Chris and Eve.  However, when the passion with others come and go, one thing remains: their bond to each other.  Eve may have loved and Chris may have loved others as well, but always in this schemer's heart has been a weakness for best friend Eve.  He may have a roving eye as he watches her go from one man in her life to the next, but in his heart it's always All About Eve.  Question is will these two get their happy ending after all that's said and done?  Will their hearts find one another in love?

Forever Love: David and Donna

Who would've thought that two characters like David Silver and Donna Martin would end up together?  Someone must've as we watched David go from the outcast of West Beverly High to the best friend and love of Donna Martin's life.  These two endured many ups and downs together as they found each other during a time when both were somewhat outcasts to the rest of the in crowd.  David had his sights on Kelly as first, but ultimately it was Donna that stole his heart and gave him a glimspe of what belonging felt like.  Together they had ups and downs, but in the end they were left with the one thing they'd always wanted--love.

Outcast at the Onset

Chris and Eve weren't what you could call the most friendly of people when their internships came out.  Both harbored less than alturistic motives and strived to become more than they were growing up, so it's no wonder they found their way to one another.  Chris had his sights set on Julie Morris (Devlin) and her fortune, but along the way, he found so much more as his partner in crime and roomie Eve managed to steal his heart.  Having only had one another for so long, these two share a bond through the good and the bad, but can it lead to love?  Chris feels it, but when will Eve?  Could they have the happily ever after they've always wanted in each other?

Friends Turned Lovers: Mike and Carrie

When Carrie's marriage to Austin began to unravel, she turned to good friend Dr. Mike Horton and found so much more than she realized.  These two long time pals found love and companionship during a time when everything in Carrie's life was in turmoil.  They had their share of problems to endure, but they worked them out together and in the end they found love.

When I Need You...

When things are going bad for Eve, she always has Chris and his shoulder to turn to.  For so long Eve, like Carrie thought she found the man of her dreams, but there tends to be another woman in the way.  Is Ian really what Eve wants, or will her best friend entice her into a love that could be what her dreams are made of?

Bad To the Bone: Brandon and Samantha
When Samantha Brady needed a partner in crime and a confidant in her battle to get her son back from his father, Brandon pulled out all the stops to see to it that Sami got what she wanted in getting her son back.  No challenge was too great for him as he fought to help the woman he loved.  While Sami believes she's hopelessly in love with Austin, Brandon has gone to great lengths to ensure her happiness even if it means pushing his own happiness aside.  Brandon may be a bad boy, but when it comes to Sami he's her knight in Shining Armor as she is the woman he'd do anything for.  His love for Sami keeps him going and sparks off a love for Sami unlike anything she's ever known, but will she ever see just how much her best friend loves her?  Will Brandon find his happily ever after with Samantha the woman of his dreams?
Sound familiar?

Chris and Eve are so close to Brandon and Sami in some ways (GHK murders storyline anyone), but unlike Eve, Sami is somewhat aware of Brandon's feelings for her.  Brandon offered to marry Samantha in her attempt to win her son back, but like Eve, Samantha refused her best friend's marriage proposal.  However one thing is for certain with both couples.  The sparks are flying and the fans see it.  It's only a matter of time before TPTB market upon it as it's a win-win situation.

From the moment she laid eyes on him, Monica knew she had to have the handsome doctor.  Much like Chris felt for Eve.  Their relationship has been a turbulent one.....They are one another's best friend, and worst enemy.  They know how to best reach out to one another, but they also know their weakest points.  While they may have tried to kill each other several times, they always come back to one another because they are tied together
by a love which no one else has ever been able to equal.  They've burned through their own lovers....Monica's Merry Men and Alan's Amourous Angels......but they wind up back together because they have true
love.
Chris and Eve have a similar pattern.  No matter who they date, no matter who they see, they always come back together as the biggest supporters.

Cass Winthrop & Felicia Gallant (AW)

They were lovers for a brief period and became each other's best friend.  No matter what they went through, no matter how many broken hearts they endured, they were always there for one another.  They called each
other immediately whenever they needed a friend, and they always turned to one another for support.  They were usually the first to criticize the other's choice in lovers, and they would nitpick about life choices each one made.

Chris and Eve have this in spades as they always come back to
one another and usually try to talk the other out of making stupid
mistakes.  Chris and Eve also tease one another about becoming lovers....it's only a matter of time.

Now for a special treat to Chris and Eve fans, enjoy this week's Chris and Eve slide show.  Up at  Don't Let Go Of Love  Hope you all enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!
