Goals

Troop 256 seeks to:

  • Create an environment where religious observance is acceptable and encouraged.
  • Develop leadership skills.
  • Help Scouts advance in BSA rank through acquisition of specific required skills and optional areas of training.
  • Provide opportunities for wholesome fun.
  • Provide in a wide variety of skill training in order to gain experience in activities that broaden knowledge and opinions about individual preferences.
  • Expose a Scout to a wider circle of peers and adult leaders.
  • Develop self-discipline, self-motivation, responsibility, and character.
  • Sharpen a sense of awareness of citizenship, an individual's role in society, a place within an organization, and selfless contribution to the community.
  • Develop and maintain physical fitness.
  • Instill a work ethic.
  • Foster public speaking confidence, skills, and experience.
  • Create an environment where self-destructive behaviors are discouraged and corrected.
  • Develop orderly habits for personal planning, record-keeping, and documentation.
  • Develop awareness, understanding, and adherence to the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
