Troop Organization Bannockburn Baptist Church is the Chartering Organization for Troop 256. The church provides Troop 256 with a place to meet, a gymnasium, a storage shed, a vehicle trailer, a parking lot, utilities, trash disposal, outdoor play areas, and other support as needed and requested. In return, Troop 256 performs occasional service projects for Bannockburn Baptist Church. Bannockburn Baptist Church designates a
Chartering Organization Representative to coordinate with Troop 256. Troop 256 appoints a
Chartering Organization Liaison, a member of the Troop 256 Committee, to serve as a
communications link between the church and the troop. In recent years, the churchs
Chartering Organization Representative and the troops Chartering Organization
Liaison have been the same person, but that may not always be so. Chart 1 shows the
relationship between Bannockburn Baptist Church and Troop 256 components. |

| Every BSA unit accomplishes an annual process known as
Rechartering. For Troop 256, that process takes place during the period November -
January. During Rechartering, the Chartering Organization renews its intent to sponsor our
troop. Each Scout and adult leader renews his/her membership by payment of annual fees.
These fees may include: BSA registration, subscription to Boys Life, and local dues.
BSA determines its fees; the Troop Committee sets locally-controlled dues. The Troop has two internal organizations -- the Troop Committee
(Chart 2) and the Scout organization
(Chart 3).
