Resolution: Human Rights (22-Jan-02)

Resolution
All individuals, Human Rights Groups, and Political Parties that participated in January 20th gathering in Los Angeles approved unanimously the attached resolution for defense of Prisoners of Conscience in Iran.

The participants discussed a wide range of ideas about ways and means of defending the Prisoners of conscience. Main emphasis was placed on mobilizing the international progressive forces to expose the deceitful attempts of the Islamic Regime of Iran (IRI) in diverting the world attention from the violations of Human Rights in Iran, and to stop the appeasing policy towards the IRI.

The resolution concludes that:
We, the participants of January 20th 2001 gathering in different parts of the world, urge that all Human Rights Organizations and their affiliates to consider the following recommendations:

1- Their efforts for dispatching international observers to Iran and reporting the condition of the prisoners in general and prisoners of conscience in particular should be intensified.

2- The emphasis should be put on the reports of non-governmental agencies for issuing urgent action and the defense should not be limited to the known prisoners or those who are associated with different factions of the regime.
