SYDNEY
CENTRE AND WEST

Strolling around the city centre and just to the west these are some of the places I visited.

THE SHERATON ON HYDE PARK

My first drink in Sydney centre was tea.

I'd been invited for a drink and this was a suitable landmark for someone who doesn't know the city.

Unfortunately the bar opened at 4 pm and it was only 12:30

Did the tourist things:

Opera house.

The Bridge.

The Rocks.

HERO OF WATERLOO

Then wandered westward under the bridge in search of a pub and found this. A good mix of customers, usually a sign of a decent pub, and had a chat with two blokes a little worse for wear one of whom, almost inevitably, was a Glaswegian.

LORD NELSON

Directed by my two friends to this Sydney's oldest hotel.

Brewing its own beer on the premises my expectations probably confused my taste buds, or it could have been the pie and peas, but I was rather disappointed with the cloudy pale ale I had. It was certainly pale but not too different from the other keg beers I'd been drinking.

SYD'S BAR

Wandering around the streets when I saw a sign with an arrow pointing to the bottom of a skyscraper. I followed the directions and found a cafe style bar.

As it was mid afternoon most of the clientel had gone back to work in their offices so I had a talk with the barman about English beers, relieving him of the misconception that they are drunk warm, whilst drinking my bottle of ice cold Toohey's Old

FORBES HOTEL

A bustling city centre pub with an interesting bar.

Well worth a visit.

AMP TOWER CENTREPOINT

The golden structure in these photos is another tourist attraction.
It's a long climb but the view is worth it.

From the Opera House.
From somewhere else.

A tourist attraction wouldn't normally warrant so much space but there is a bar at the top.

This place is diffiult to see when your in the city.
