ST. KILDA

THE ESPLANADE

This place was recommended to me before I left England as one of THE places to go for live music in Melbourne.

I had to make do with a trip Sunday afternoon and I imagine the inside looks a lot better in the dark.

THE PRINCE OF WALES

The first pub in Australia to bear this name.
The interior has been "whitewashed" covering geometric patterns on the ceiling and the impression of the horseshoe bar could be seen on the floor this being replaced with a smaller bar across one end of the large room. Apart from that a decent enough pub.
I have heard that "renovations" are underway to restore it to its former glory which will entail a lot of wood for the bar.
It has also come to my attention that, presumably as part of the renovations, the name has been changed to
THE St KILDA PRINCE.
Doesn't sound quite right to me.

THE ELEPHANT AND WHEELBARROW

Another "British Pub" and a popular watering hole with British backpackers.

It did have many features you find in British pubs although perhaps not all in the same one.

Boddingtons Bitter was very welcome even if it was the keg variety.
